What is your PS3?

Multimedia and GoW: Ascension playing device.

The Last of Us and Beyond: Two Souls will probably retire my PS3 before I officially move on. I still plan to use it for media as long as it lives though.

I just got my PS3 a month ago. I use it for whatever I get for free from PS Plus along with a few other things like Ni no Kuni and PlayStation All-Stars with friends.

It's also the easiest way for me to play movies and videos on my TV, off of a hard drive or flash drive.

The first two years I rarely used my PS3 and it was due to my lack of enthusiasm for the console. The highlights were GOW 3 and the GOW collection which I got day one and played the hell out of. Today I received GOW Ascension from my brother and started that but not with as much zeal as the GOW 3 days those years ago.

I use it to play a lot of my criterion blu-rays too which is awesome! I really hope to put it to much better use before the arrival of the PS3 and subscribing to PS plus is helping me on that front as well. For a while my console was also having trouble playing dual layered blu-discs but I finally found a fix for that issue so it's full steam ahead with my Playstation adventures.

She's a squirrel crushing, deer smacking, driving machine!

that also plays great exclusives no other company would risk putting on their platform... and Netflix, Crunchy Roll, Blu Rays, etc.

I use my PS3 way more than my 360, but it just got YLOD last night :(

20gb launch model...just picked up indigo prophecy too

edit: I also use as my primary media device (blu rays and media files)

My PlayStation 3 use hasn't changed at all.

I primarily use it to play Japanese developed games. The ones that don't come out for the PC. Which is most of them.

In fact the only thing that I own my XBOX 360 for is titles like Blue Dragon, Tales of Vesperia English, and Mushihimesama Futari.

Though I do have some titles for the Playstation 3 I certainly play the most. Titles such as Tales of Vesperia Japanese version, Tales of Graces f, Atelier Rorona, Totori, Meruru, and Ayesha, Disgaea 3 and 4, Tekken 6 and Ni no Kuni. I play a lot of jRPGs.

In particular I've played a lot of Tales of Graces f on my PlayStation 3.

I bought it to supplement my gaming. I've always wanted one but I ended up buying a 360 since it was cheaper and pretty much all my friends that gamed had one. I ended up getting one right after PSN got restored for $200 due to this GameStop coupon.

With PS+, free multiplayer, and it being a Bluray player, it's now my primary gaming system.

Main console, play console exclusives on it. I mostly play PSAS and Marvel on it lately. I have a 60 gig that I haven't touched in a long time.

A paperweight (the PSU blew up not long after a mate and I finished Most Wanted 2012).

Game player, DVD+Blu-Ray player, Netflix/Amazon instant media streaming device

360 is buried, though I may dig it back up for Bayonetta. Wii is on life support, sometimes showing signs of life

A machine with a shitty service only used for playing Naughty Dog games.

I hope they really improve their service for the ps4.

My main console. Sold 360 few months earlier cause it's been collecting dust, and there aren't any games coming out on the system that matters.

Metal Gear Rising player for now.
Eventually Last of Us and Tales of Xillia player as well. Don't see anything else in the future to care about.

A Media-streaming, game-playing behemoth of a machine.

I love my 360 for Netflix and Hulu (mainly because the PS3 wireless sucks and the 360's ....doesn't). But the PS3 just handles media -- especially local and locally streamed media -- much, much better than the Xbox. the PS3 is my main console, and I only buy games on Xbox 360 if they're exclusive, or if they are significantly better on 360 (Bayonetta).

Oh, it's a pretty good blu-ray player, too. It's also my digital locker for my PSPGo (yeah, I own one of those. It's awesome.). I have pictures on there from Rock Band nights past. I've got lots of memories in that large box..(80GB MGS4 model!).....*sniff*

I still use mine all the time. Mostly retail PS3 games, but I also use it for Blu-rays and DVDs fairly often, as well as watching video files. It's a great machine.

I see your point, but my PS3 is most likely still a gaming console.
Evenknow atm it has turned itself into a 'give me all that free PS+ stuff' machine.

A big box that sits next to the 360. I think it plays games and movies, but I haven't checked in what feels like years.

It remains my primary gaming device, as it has been for many years. Admittedly I haven't turned it on since I got my PC but that was only a recent acquisition. Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen will pull me back to it no doubt.

My PS3 is mainly a dust collector and possibility to play MGS4. After that, I think I'll become a bluray player for the bedroom.

Used to be my Netflix machine till the console turned into a turbine engine :( now its just exclusives.

Every once in awhile I boot it up and download a demo or look at the shop but I don't really play games or movies on it. In fact by the time the demo is finished the feeling to play it is usually gone. I Netflix on PC or Wii but pretty much never on PS3. Oh and every time I turn it on it needs an update.

I'll need to use it again eventually to finish Vanquish (unless it gets ported to PC oh please). Could potentially see some use with Deadly Premonition: Director's Cut and The Last of Us.

Still very much in use compared to my 360, which has basically become my Cave shmup-box. Just came back to Tales of Graces f for trophies/New Game + stuff and just started FFXIII-2, which I'm surprisingly enjoying.

Sitting unused along with my other current gen consoles. I've got a better blu-ray player so it's no good for that and i basically only play games on the PC now so i don't need it for that.

blu rays and now netflix. I have been going PC only slowly since about 2009 though. I bought some games on 33% off for E3 10 11 or 12, SOTC, Uncharted 3, Twisted Metal, and Starhawk only playing each game a few hours. The wii in the house isn't mine but it has been literally coated in dust since NSMB.

Oh and every time I turn it on it needs an update.

Important point. It's like Sony wants to drive away the casual players and the people who use other devices more than their PS3s. I love mine, but if I haven't touched it for a week or two, I start hesitating to turn it on again just because I know that whatever game I've suddenly got the hankering to play might be delayed by 5-10 minutes, with me sitting there pressing the Start button (or circle, or whatever) and babysitting it.

This is the very antithesis of what console gaming is about.

I am a lot more selective with my purchases, both for exclusives and multis in this time.
Basically is a GT box with some game bought here and there.

This is the very antithesis of what console gaming is about.
This gen has been big on that.

I want next gen systems to quickly(PS3 boot up takes too long) launch a micro-menu that shows whats in the disk tray, the last 5 download games I played, and the last 3 apps I used. All background auto-updated and background patched. Hit circle to close the menu and boot up completely.

My goodness wouldn't that be special. Still doesn't solve installs but hopefully the increased blu-ray read speed will mitigate the need for this, but I digress.

It will probably see new life once the Last of Us comes out.
Right now I just have no inclination to play any of the lesser games I have on it, including the PS Plus freebies.

Feeds my Trophy Addiction

I have too many Games ; ;

I'm more Online playing PS3, than I do anything in real life... Freaky!

I used to use it as a back up blu-ray player, but I got a new standalone player, so it's pretty much just collecting dust.

Think I'm going to bust it out for MLB 13: The Show and Last of Us, though.

It was basically just used for blu-ray, but I recently lost my controller (or it got stolen?) and now it just collects dust in my closet. But hey, better than my 360 being used like, 20 times in the last 3 years.

Bought a super slim last year. It has replaced my Samsung Blu Ray player. Perfect Blu Ray player/NetFlix/VUDU player. Other than God of War its my Media player.
