what jrpg are you playing right now ?

Just bought FFVII for what seems to be the 100th time, this version on steam. Started last night and now I'm arriving at work really really really tired......... the music is so good.... so, so good.

I am 22 hours into Devil Survivor: Overclocked on the 3DS.

Awesome game. I really hope the 3DS version of Devil Survivor 2 will be published in europe.

I really getting into handheld gaming again with the 3DS.

Edit: Fixed mistake :-)

On my fourth playthrough now -- about 120 hours, I think. Just now starting to take breaks in between. Yeah, it's pretty satisfying. It's also surprising how much new content there is hidden in various conversations and paths.

Just started tinkering with the new Etrian Odyssey demo too. I've never completed a single one of these games, but there's still something about each one that makes me want to at least take a peek. I don't remember the first game well, but I'm diggin' the futuristic premise of this one. Might actually bite the bullet and buy this one.

Twilight Princess. Old me would have kicked my ass for calling it a JRPG, but lately I keep trying to get into menu-driven rpgs and they're just not clicking like they used to. Picked this up and it's giving me exactly the feel I want from jrpgs but don't seem to get lately.

But damn, this game is long. I'm 30-40 hours in and only at the water temple.

No sooner do I type this, than I find myself getting sucked into Breath of Fire II on Wii U VC. This actually feels pretty ideal for the gamepad, and it's giving me that old 2D Suikoden kind of feel that I was hoping for. I guess I just needed to be in a receptive mood.

You're 30-40 hours in only at the third temple? Damn, what are you doing lol?

Admittedly, a good chunk of that is me leaving the system idle while I'm working or doing other things. But I'm also taking my time exploring everything, trying not to use FAQs too much, etc. And really, the game is pretty long. It's the 3rd giant dungeon, but there have been plenty of other set pieces and dungeon-like places in the dark world in-between; it feels more like the 8th. Some of those smaller dungeons you find on Hyrule Field have been my favourite parts so far, actually.

This is also the first 3D Zelda I've spent serious time with in forever - maybe since the WW preorder disc on GC? So I'm probably a bit more rusty than most.

I just finished Overclocked, and I'm also waiting for the 3DS survivor 2 to be published in English. I loved the first game, but I'm really trying to wait for an announcement!

Happily just picked up Shin Megami Tensei IV for 3DS. I've put in about an hour and can't wait to start playing again. The store I bought from still had the limited edition so I was able to get one of those. Looks like they printed quite a few of them.

Ni No Kuni. At first I didn't want to get those last few trophies because they'd probably add another 150 hours to an already long(but awesome) game. I started on the familiar one and then I kinda lost interest when GTA V came around. Hopefully I'll pick it back up and get my platinum.

I love SMT games and feel that Devil Survivor 1 and 2 are criminally overlooked. I think they're better than a number of mainline and Persona games.

Not DDS though. Never DDS.

Well, from all the SMT I did, I think DS1 is the one I like the least.
But then again, I don't like tacticals.

And as you speak of DDS, I'm in the middle of the first one, after having played the second one a few years back (without having touched the first). Damn was that stupid of me.
I'm also in my second run of SMT IV right now, on hard.
Minotaur was really a pain in the *ss, as I'm doing a fresh start from lvl 1, and try not using the compendium.

Ni No Kuni. About 20 hours in, currently at Automnia.

Game is much better than I expected. I love how the game keeps things interesting by introducing new elements all the time.

Best JRPG on the PS3 so far for me, and probably replacing Fire Emblem Awakening for my GoTY if it manages to keep up the pace.

Just finished Super Mario RPG today and Suikoden II the other week. Now I'm starting up Chrono Trigger. Hearing Mitsuda's music in CT makes me want to play through Xenogears again.

I've recently gone back to Trails in the Sky after a gap of more than a year, and I'm enjoying it more than I did the first time. It must be the slowest JRPG ever made and you have to be in the right frame of mind to play it.

Grandia on PSP. Near the end of the first disc.

Bought it in the sale a week or two ago for Vita. But the borders are gigantic on Vita. The screen almost feels like a Game Boy Color size. Tried it for about 10 minutes, wanting to love it, but just couldn't.

Now playing Ys Oath in Felghana a bit, which is great. Also finally started with FF 13, altough it really is 'press a for awesome' gameplay, I still enjoy the beauty and some of the cast. Would be great if not every level was one long hallway and all the items weren't always in the same predictible location.

I actually started up a new game of .hack//INFECTION recently.

This is one of the few PS2 games I wish got the HD re-release treatment, if only for the sake of fitting all four volumes onto a single Blu-Ray as a massive single game instead of being split into four individual parts.

I don't think they'll do a HD, but a PSN port would be most likely.

I'm currently bidding on .hack quarantine's on ebay....

huehuehue.

Really need to finish Persona 3P so I can start Persona 4 Golden.

But I'm effing stuck at
that damn boss with the wheel of fortune thing

Anyone have any advice on how to beat the damn guy?

Didnt want to rush straight into my Milla playthrough of Xillia so I'm clearing out some stuff from my backlog, playing Agarest War Zero and Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls right now

You need to press the button when the effect you want is exactly on the opposite side. But yeah, that battle is no fun... good luck, you will get it eventually

I'm playing SMT Soul Hackers now... bought it on a whim while waiting for the new Etrian Odyssey. Love it, I recommend it - don't be afraid of the age, it holds up!

FFXIII

And sorry to say, but I like it. The music, art direction, graphics, and battle sysyem are superb. Except for Snow. Vanille and Hope arent that bad, I just pretend Vanille is a speed junkie like Trevor and her overly energetic demeanor makes sense and actually makes the story more interesting. Hope seems to get cooler as the game goes on.

Sazh is cool but his battle animation is so stupid. Why did they have to make him attack like that -_-.

I'm replaying TitS. About 25 hours in and having a blast. Trying to get all the BPs this time but that's hard! Already missed one hidden quest which sucks...

Despite all the hate, I also feel FFXIII is a great game. Especially the later half. Battle system is actually real fun once things start to open up and the backdrop in that game is just amazing.

I plan on playing through XIII again (will be my 3rd play through) before Lightning Returns comes out and XIII-2 again with all the DLCs that I missed.

Golden sun dark dawn, it's okay so far, it's kinda growing on me. Initially I was very disappointed though since I was a big fan of the gba games.

Btw this game doesn't feel like a treehouse translation. There is a certain lack of personality which I've come to expect from treehouse.

To be frank, it's only enjoyable after chapter 7 or so, and many people can't endure until then.

Back on the topic, Atelier Meruru. It has been on my shelf for awhile together with Atelier Totori for awhile. Just finished Totori recently, and the Arland series for sure is the most relaxing JRPG I've played.

Right now I'm doing NG+ in Valkyria Chronicles. I beat all the skirmishes on Hard and right now I'm just going through the chapters again till the last Ellet report (which can only be gotten on NG+) opens up. Doing this while I wait for Xillia to come in.

Don't feel sorry, it's a fantastic game. There are some serious flaws, but it's still amazing.

Torn between Last Story and Fate/Extra. Which should I start today?

The Last Story :)

I'm trying to get through my handheld backlog, just polished off Ys III PSP and have started in on FF4 Heroes of Light and about 5 hours in. Lovin' it so far, but I still have a lusty craving for more Ys.

I just couldn't get through gta v, I played 60 hours and made it 80 percent through but I'm out of it , now it's back to JRPGs! Trying to get through ffviii for the first time, I'm really excited for rune factory 4 and eo on the 1st of the month. Planning on playing some SRPGs as well.

FF8 has really good atmosphere. Keep up with the slightly flawed battle system and you'll be well rewarded!.
