what jrpg are you playing right now ?

Last week I tried to play The 3rd birthday, but wasn't captivated by it and the story didn't look that interesting so I dropped it.

Currently I'm playing Fate/Extra and I'm liking it, the story has yet to pick up but the characters are already there! Red Saber is amazing (I already have pinpointed her True Name, they made it way too easy this time) and the other servants this time look really cool!
The battle system is nice and enjoyable, basically rock, paper, scissors on steroids and with cheats!

The music is so-so, nothing excellent so far.

Just out of curiosity. here is my current schedule until the end of the year (no way I'm finishing all of them...) all for PSP

1) 3rd Birthday
2) Fate/Extra [Now Playing]
3) Half Minute Hero
4) Jeanne D'Arc
5) Persona
6) Persona 2 Innocent Sin
7) Persona 2 Eternal Punishment

I am very impressed with the voice acting.

English voice acting in Xenosaga games was otherworldly for its time and for being published by Namco!

It's good to hear people are enjoying Xenosaga. That's a series I would like to revisit someday.

Maybe a KOS-MOS themed game developed by Platinum Games?

One of the core pillars of the Xenosaga franchise is having a convoluted deep, great story. PG is the last studio I would ever consider to handle this series.

I am at the ten hour mark of Xenoblade.
I am heading to Prison Island right now. I just got inside the Bionis.
I hear once I get to this particular spot is when the story launches off (and I am quite digging the tale so far too).

Quoted for size. Playing 3DS and Vita.

Started Final Fantasy VII a few days ago when it released on steam, great game so far. I hope I´ll finally be able to finish it... It´s probably my 6th or 7th attempt now.

Etrian Odyssey IV and Paper Mario: Sticker Star.
But I am also starting KH: Birth By Sleep Final Mix, because the other two stopped being interesting. Maybe I'll pick them up again.

I´ve decided to do Ni No Kuni first before starting on Resonance of Fate. That game has a soundtrack that makes me happy I got surround sound, holy crap.

Hey this thread is still alive.

Just got a bad ending in P4G last night. Went back and did some different stuff, seems like I'm on track for the true ending now. Didn't max out Marie though, so no Golden Epilogue for me this playthrough.

I love these fucking games (P3 and P4). Wish I played them sooner! Already got P4A loaded up on my PS3 too. Really complicated, I'm not that good at real fighting games but I need that story!

Ni No Kuni made me tired 10 hours in. The introduction of the AI partner killed the battle system for me and the plot didn't seem to go anywhere. Then I read I had to put in 40 hours to complete it and I gave up on it, despite the beautiful visuals and audio :(

I'm playing Xenogears for the first time since the late 90s. And boy that is one ugly game. Getting through those hideous dungeons can be a real chore. Also the pacing is all over the place even on disc 1. Despite that I'm still having a blast. I still like the story and especially the characters a lot (which I wasn't sure of since it has gotten a lot of flak over the years) and the soundtrack is obviously amazing.

Got done with Project X Zone last night! I have quite a few games in my backlog that I need to go back and finish for probably 1 1/2 weeks, after that I plan to go on and get the most out of Demon's Souls. (got about an hour into it and then dropped it to play newer games, need to finish this because I loved the hell out of Dark Souls and to tide me over until Dark Souls II)

Playing Dragon Quest V on DS - close to the end it seems. Have also started a Dragon Quest III SFC file that I will be focusing on once V is complete.

Just finished Atelier Ayesha (which I loved, except Regina's ending, seriously), currently going back to Disgaea 4 for a while (if that counts, being an SRPG) while I wait for Tales of Xillia to come out.

Skies of Arcadia Legends

I never finished it on Dreamcast and didn't remember much. I'm now playing it on GC more than 10 years later, and that game is amazing.
It shows that it was from a time when JRPG where treated as much more than niche fan-service things. It's BIG, well written, and the gameplay systems are thoughtful and unapologetic about being a real traditional jRPG. I love it.

skies of arcadia needs more love in every way. i think im due for a play through soon.

currently playing my smt strange journey game. at fornax already.

also, are the dlc for 13-2 worth it ?

The Lightning one is definitely worth it for the story aspects as well as having a somewhat different take on the battle system. It's probably the best of the DLC imo. The colosseum ones are worth it if you want some hard (yet pretty fulfilling) battles. I bought everything and don't regret it. Sahz's chapter is kind of lame unless you want to play poker.

Almost finished with Final Fantasy 12, so far I feel as if I missed when it was significant. I don't really care for the combat, system, I prefer 13 or ATB more. Most of the characters feel underdeveloped and I feel its one of the weaker parties out of the final fantasy games. The story is ok, but it feels weak compared to 10. I'm at the pirate port city right now, grinding hunts to get faith, bravery and bubble.

After having just beat Final Fantasy XIII about a month ago (I liked it), I'm roughly 11 hours in XIII-2. Really enjoying it so far. Story is completely bonkers, but the game is just really fun to play. Everything is very satisfying and I'm enjoying a lot of the "game-y" mechanics. It's silly and it's fun, and I'm looking forward to Lightning Returns.

I'm playing Chrono Trigger right now. The only JRPGs I've played are Pokemon(if they count) so this is my first other than those. I'm not really seeing the appeal though. Does it get better? The story is pretty weak so far. (I just fought the first boss)

Just started Chrono Trigger DS. I've played the SNES and PS1 version several times, but haven't played the DS one yet.

I'm also looking at other Fire Emblem games to try since I loved Awakening so much, but I'm not sure what to try next. I've heard the other games are a lot less forgiving (and permadeath, of course), but I'd still like to play some. Anyone have any suggestions for which Fire Emblem would be the best to try after Awakening?

I'm playing Phantasy Star Universe on my 360 right now, thinking about grabbing an OG Xbox to play Episode 1 and 2 all over again. PSO 2 can't come to vita fast enough :(

Playing and loving Etrian Odyssey IV on the 3DS. I've played and finished the 3 previous games, can't get enough of these.

I'm also about two hours into Xenoblade on the Wii. It hasn't grabbed me yet but its gotten such positive word of mouth that I'm in it to win it regardless.

It took me three restarts with about 6 hours in each. Then it finally hooked me for 80 hours. Hope this happens for you. Don't obsess over side-quests and switch up your party members when you can. That's what did it for me.

Does Muramasa Rebirth count as a JRPG?

I just want to say god the assets are so repetitive.

It does. Give it time, it's a masterpiece.

Started Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen about a week ago. It is basically meth. It absolutely fills the void while I wait for Dark Souls 2. I wasn't expecting to get so hooked on it and I'm not even that far in.

Also playing the FFXIV Beta when it is running but I abandoned it this weekend for DD.

Stopped all other games to start my first SMT Nocturne playthrough in preparation for SMT IV. I'm about an hour in and have no idea what the hell is going on
but I like it

This post reminded me that I still haven't played this game, at all, ever. I believe i even own it. Time to unpack/dust off the Wii methinks.
