I'm sure we all have at least one story about an incident at a store that has caused us to stop shopping there for a while, but what stores do you simply refuse to shop at because of an incident you had? Bring in your customer service story as well.

There are plenty of places that I refuse to frequent with my business. Obviously, since I'm a vegetarian, any fast food is pretty much right out.

For various reasons, I also refuse to shop at: Starbucks, the Gap, Old Navy, and Wal Mart.

Wal-Mart - Target is better
Starbucks
Electronics Boutique - buncha posers work there
The Comic Stop - poor service, ordering system messed up
Grackleflint Comics - sold out of my preorder bin

Can't say there's any place I'd refuse, I'm a cheap ass and will go to whom ever has the better price for what I'm looking for.

If I can avoid it, Wal-mart is one place I dislike shopping. Stores are always so cluttered and dirty. Prefer Target, but they don't always have what I need.
Local comic shop here has rude people working behind the counter and have no clue how to properly order the big titles, but they're the only game in town.

About the worst place would be EB, no matter what store I've been in nationwide it's still the same type of asshat working behind the counter.

PS. Anyone notice EB stores popping up like Starbucks lately? My area her in Canton has 2 new ones and another on the way...
Odd, I 'd didn't realize people liked overpiced used games.

McDonald's - worked there, never really liked the food anyway before that
Wal-Mart - only buy stuff on clearance
Vons (supermarket out here) - they left us outside on strike for five months, so screw them.

Lots of other places...

Why Starbucks? I avoid them generally because they are beyond overpriced - but I'm curious if your reasons are different.
Because they use child labor to pick their coffee beans.

Starbucks is evil anyway, more like a disease slowly spreadin across the country destroying the concept of small business as we know it.

Wow, kind of like Wal Mart, and Kroger/Ralph's, and the Gap and Old Navy, and every other big fat evil corporation in sight.

hmm, if there would be one it's Walmart. I haven't shopped there in 1 year but if it's the only place open at the time I would have no problem shopping there. I guess there isn't really any place I can think of.

*Raoul, my best friend is vegetarian and he swears by Taco Bell, bean burritos are cheap

Yeah, the good ole Toxic Bell is like the one exception I make, and only because it's so damn cheap and open so damn late.

Taco Bell--cant comprehend how they can pass as tex-mex food or food in general
Abercrombie--never saw the appeal

A&F - Too common. Don't like the fit. Complete lack of asian model in ads. Clothes look too similar season after season.

Banana Republic - Too preppy. Clothes look too similar season after season.

Taco Bell - Gives me the run every single time.

What the hell is the appeal with A&F anyway? They didn't come around here till after I graduated, and never shop there. Got some of their clothing for Xmas, didn't like it. I just know their prices are ridiculously high for what they offer. Shitty faded tshirts and faded jeans that fit like shit.

For their prices I can go to Eddie Bauer or Amer. Eagle and actually get some NICE clothes.

www.buyritegames.com <--- No fucking way will I ever buy a game from them, even if they sold me a PSP for $1.

Taco Bell <--- I don't like any kind of food that resembles "Mexican" food. Even real Mexican food.

And I think that's it. I can't say Wal Mart, because I've never actually been to one, although I'm sure I'll get a message from someone telling me never to get near there. :lol

First tragedy, then farce.
Walmart for their tactics to put mom and pop stores out of buisness and destroy small town america..

taco bell for their mistreatment of labor and nike for the same reason..

Only one shop I intentionally refuse to shop at -- I don't really count places I don't go to because I don't like the food/style etc, that's no big deal IMO...

It's this game store in a local mall called Micro Planet. They're not so much assholes there as clueless as all fuck. I generally don't shop there anyway because they tend to get stuff late and it's more expensive, but sometimes they're the only option (and they're closer). Anyway, they're just... stupid. You have no idea how many times I've called them to ask for a game, they insist they don't have it/have never heard of it/doesn't exist/sold out/coming next week and it's RIGHT THERE IN THE SHOP. I've literally called them while a couple floors below in the mall asking about games, hearing they don't have it, walking in three minutes later and seeing it there. Just... stupid. I gave up after a while.

Another Starbucks hater here. I can't understand why they are so widespread in Madrid, it is so... unnatural. Plus small entrepreneurs and business owners deserve my money much more than nasty corporations. Fuck them, I feel infuriated everytime I see a small bar closing because of a big franchise opening near.

Wal-Mart is the only store I will not ever give my money to (Oh, and a few local stores in Toronto not owrth mentioning). I'm sure if I did the research there would be quite a few others as well... but I'm lazy.

You work at Vons?
Anyway...
Ralphs (Vons is superior) - all their stores in my area are dirty as hell, almost like..

Walmart - same reason as above and because the type of people who shop there. Last time I went there was to rip them off with the Circuit City 5 buck sale (where i scored a couple of games)

VG specialty shops (Gamestops, EBs, etc) - overpriced bastards. It's been almost 5 years now since I bought something at one. When I want certain non-mainstream games that aren't carried at the bigger stores I buy online.

-Walmart
-Subway (well, only the one that's closest to my apt, because the girl working there flirted with my fiancee, bitch)

Only for reasons of hatred of their products:

Starbucks - Watery sugary milk isn't coffee.
The Gap - Everybody in Khaki.
McDonalds/Burger King - The food makes me ill after consumption.

Compusa: Asshole and unknowledgeble customer service.
EB: Pushy sales people are asshats. EB runs sweatshops in their warehouses. Rip people off with preowned software that they buy back for nothing.
Gamestop: Same as EB.
Subway: Worst sandwiches ever! They waste bread too.
A&F: Their clothes suck and I don't like their racist advertising.
Banana Republic: Overpriced preppy clothes.
Taco Bell: They use dogmeat in their tacos.
Radio Shack: Overpriced electronic parts.
Blockbuster: Worst selection of videos ever and high rental fees.
Hot Topic: Trendy bastards. Ruined the goth scene.

Well, all the places Raoul listed for starters, and for pretty much the same reasons. Add to that just about any clothing store. Clothes are so obnoxiously over-priced it's ridiculous. I get clothes from Goodwill, Arc, Ragstock (not the one in MOA), that sort of place. Target and Best Buy are close to the do-not-shop list for me. Both those places are headed downhill.

I absolutely refuse to shop at Wal-Mart because of their corporate policies.

There are lots of places that I don't shop at because of practicality or style -- I would look like an ass in Abercrombie & Fitch, so I'm not going to go there. But it isn't a downright refusal.

Blockbuster

Accused me of returning the case without the dvd, and charged me $40 for replacement fee and late fees. TWICE. There's about three or four people I work with who have had this happen to them as well, and also refuse to give them business now.

McDonald's - I get ill whenever I eat their food. I'm fine with most other fast food places though.

Wal-Mart - I hate pretty much everything about the store. The few things they sell that I would buy are usually overpriced anyway (video games).

Costco - Much like Wal-Mart. I don't like stores where you have to get into wrestling matches with other customers.

Why the hell would anyone have a problem with Trader Joes? The place kicks ass.

I don't have a problem with Trader Joe's, but I don't really understand their appeal either. I usually come out empty-handed when I shop there.

Wal-Mart - I can't stand to even be in the same parking lot as that place. Everything about it just disgusts me.

Gap - just really dislike this place as well. Though I have a few articles of clothing from there that my gf bought me.

But you know, I was very against the whole sweat-shop deal before, but not so much anymore. I mean, I think it's not so much a black&white issue. When it gets ultra extreme like locking the employees to the gates, not paying employees and not letting them leave their facilities, then ya of course that's bad. But working voluntary long hours for relatively little money, I mean is that SO horrible when you consider what the alternative would be? And I guess that's really my question, what is the alternative for those areas (that doesn't depend on aid).

I can spend days in their trail mix section. And their prices are pretty decent compared to most yuppie organic grocery stores.

Yeah I have never really even ENTERED a GAP, and don't plan to. I also stay out of Abercrombie as the people who frequent that store are evil. I also don't do expensive coffee or drink shops.

I don't think there are any stores I'd outright refuse to shop at, if they had something I actually wanted. I rarely go to clothing shops though, as I have enough right now, and I'm not the type to go frivolously buying new clothes. I'd say the one store I might refuse to go to is Abercrombie & Fitch, mainly for its habit of producing clothing with racist messages, but if I saw something I really wanted, I'd probably just go anyway.

i tend to avoid Wal-Mart as much as possible.

however, since I'm living on my own and I don't have a car, I have had to rely on 'em for cleaning products and such.

I avoid Gamestop because I used to have a burning passion against Game Informer.

There was a Hawaiian fast food joint that I went to fairly often a while back, but I forced myself to stop going since it was obviously the worst part of my regular diet.

That's not possible.

I have never seen a game cheaper at Wal-Mart (Canada) than at the Best Buy across the parking lot, or at the Future Shop down the street.

I haven't been inside a Wal-Mart in years, but each time I have looked at videogames there, they were at best the same price as other stores, and sometimes more expensive. They had lots of games from 2+ years ago that were still marked at $50.

Kmart. I'm afraid if I come into contact with anyone there I might get some kind of horrible disease. Depends on the Wal-Mart. Some are pretty nice, and some are shit holes. I also won't ever go to Game Crazy because their prices are rediculous, and they're nazis. I won't eat at McDonalds because they're horrible.
