Starbucks. I worked at a great indie coffee house during undergrad, so I have a personal resentment towrard the green monster. I will admit to caving in and having it at airports and sometimes in LA where there seems to be nothing but corporate coffee. :(

I just wrote Best Buy off my list for terrible customer service, then after reading about their Angels and Devils customer philosiphy decided to be a Devil and buy only loss leaders from them.

That way I can actually harm their business by shopping there.

Is there a comprehensive list of loss leaders for different kinds of stores? I would love to buy from certain companies but not contribute to their bottom line.

Wal-Mart.
Blockbuster and Dominoes -- owned by wacko Evangelists who donate large chunks of cash to pro-life causes. Plus, Blockbuster endorsed DivX and tried to block DVD sales.
Abercrombie and Fitch.

I have (seen a video game priced cheaper at wal-mart in Canada). Their prices are usually EB's prices, only a few dollars cheaper (ie. 57.94) or something like that.

I really don't like to enter Compucentre and Denny's (Overrated and overpriced).

Chinese take out places will never see my business again. They seem to have the lowest food preparation cleanliness standards, even when compared with the rest of the fast food industry. The cook/delivery guys have to smell weird as a rule, it seems.

Wal-Mart
McDonalds
Blockbuster

I am starting to hate going into BestBuy. It's like walking onto a car lot. I'm looking at a video game and I have two different people asking if I need any help. Anyone have any info on the angel vs. devil philosophy discussed before, like a link or something?

PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS oh god i am drowning in them
It kinda pisses me off that people would get irritated by folk who are just trying to do their job.
Not that I like this job at TRU, but I need it at the moment. And if I'm not seen at least attempting to interact with the customer every now and again, keep it I won't.
Anyway,
I avoid Wal-Mart because I'm not comfortable in that store, and their not exactly good folk either.
I avoid a local Game Stop because the bitch manager said shit about me to her co-worker in front of me because I wanted my money back on a reserve that they hadn't gotten in that day, and EB already had it for hours.
I also try to avoid a local game shop just because they're asshats in my opinion.
First, they won't acknowledge you at all when you enter a store. Now if this is a big ass store, whatever, but if I enter a tiny shop, and say "How ya doin?" or some simple shit to the shop-keep, at least grunt or something, don't look at me and turn away like I'm some shit, I'm your fucking customer.
Second, watch your conversations in public. I'm looking at some games, and these guys running the store are talking about shit like the smell of this one girl's vagina, with like two six year olds or so right near them. There's a place for everything.
third, try to know your shit. A friend was picking up a Super Nintendo, and the guy there was trying to convince him to buy a 64 instead, because you don't have to blow into the carts, and sometimes the carts don't stick down when you push them (you know, the staple NES problems, even though we were talking about a SNES). Then proceeded to tell us they've been selling like hot-cakes (the N64s), and I don't live in the store, but I've been there with enough frequency to know that stack of N64s were only collecting dust.
Haven't been back yet.

Just found this after a quick peek. Doesn't give much help into what items you can buy to become part of this "devil" list.

I love my Best Buy but that shit is creepy. I know I know this is a capitalist country and I see nothing wrong with the pres trying to make all he can by any means. On the other hand I hate being scrutinized and labeled by my shopping of all things. This could be construed as some form of discrimination. I just want to buy a movie or game. Is there a way I can were my label that says, "I spend a lot of money here, I know what I want when I come in here and I don't do devilish things so leave me alone."

What's people's problem with Hot Topic? Is it a Goth store? Is it a punk store? It's neither for me! I go for the videogame apparel. Take that, bitches! ;)

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
Old Navy - I hate their commercials and supposed trendiness.

A local liquor store - My brother and I went in, looked around, didn't end up getting anything, left and entered a photography shop nearby. The manager of the liquor store comes in after us a couple minutes later threatening to call the cops unless we hand over what we stole. I'm fucking stunned. He's claiming he has us on camera stealing a couple pints or something. He starts demanding that we empty our pockets and jackets, as if we could actually hide that stuff in there. All this time the owners of this store are just kinda watching, not sure what to do. This guy's just blatantly assaulting us, and after we fail to provide what I can only assume was missing inventory that he wanted to pass off on someone else, he threatens the cops again and then says if we ever go back he'll call them. I swear, if I had the time to deal with it, I would have sued his ass for all kinds of shit, not the least of which was assault. Fortunately, the store is now out of business, but shit, that pissed me off to no end, and was pretty humiliating since this guy accosted us in another store.
