Well, I spent +10 years without playing games before buying the Switch so even though I could ask for a thousand trillions I think I'd be fine with far less than a million. Programming is much more fun than gaming which is why I do it at work and when off.

Distrubing the people that chose $100k or less.

Not surprised at people wanting to get as much money as possible, yet kind of surprised at people thinking gaming does that much for their lives.

Very interesting reading all the different answers!

Me, personally, I already barely game and I have to force myself to game the little I do. I just read gaming forums for some reason.
Maybe VR will improve one day and I'll start actually enjoying this.

I feel like there's at least 25% of GAF that are just like you and it kinda makes sense.

I guess around $10 mill I'd start considering it.
Gaming is my main and favorite hobby but I guess with the security that I'd never have to really work or worry about money again, and the increased free time that comes with it, I could see myself getting more invested in some of the other hobbies that I enjoy.

Plus there are always board games to scratch that gaming itch, even though they aren't quite the same.

Which is why I selected $100 million.
I think you are right.

10m is enough for not having to work for the rest of your life and still live comfortably until you die at 90 or something. But that's it. It's not enough to do things that will make you forget about your favorite hobby you just abandoned forever. It will be a peaceful, secure, but also boring life.

100m though is the amount of money where you start to have the kind of power you never thought about before. It's lifestyle changing. You can start a huge company that can keep you busy and maybe make you even more rich in the process. You can have others doing things for you and being hung from your every word and action. This is the amount of money where you can literally save people's lives and change them forever.

Maybe living in such power fantasy would make me forget about past hobbies.

It helps that i'm broke and have to work at shitty jobs just to come by. So being the rich asshole i like to criticize because i mostly envy him would be a welcome change. We only live once.

So i guess $100m would do it for me. Now the question is, what would be the minimum amount? Would 90m do it too? How about 50m? And if i would accept 50m, would i decline 49m?

id think with the money id be able to invest in a new hobby. you could still be on computers and do internet shit, just no games. Could get into wood working, flipping houses, could do all sorts of things with the initial chunk of money.

10m$ is really not THAT much.
You get a big ass house, get a big ass house for your mom and sister too and that's like 3 mil gone already.
You get a nice ass car for you and everyone and thats 1 mill gone again.
All of that to not game again? nah.

I am voting 100 mil and +. I like watching streamers anyway

I voted $10M but honestly I would probably accept less. I love video games, but as I get older I have started playing and finishing less and less games.

I already watch a lot of gaming content, and could for a lot of games just watch somebody I like play through them. Plus my girl plays a lot of games.

The correct answer is this: How much would you be willing to give me?

I choose 10 million.
If you're taking away a key source of relaxation and entertainment from me, I need to replace it with something equally as time-consuming.
Travelling maybe, painting, GUN-DAM models... I sure as fuck ain't playing golf.

Would take 10m. Not for myself but for my son. It would be selfish for me to prioritize playing games over something that could really change his life.

Would be happy enough to watch him play games instead of me.

I gotta game man. Without gaming there's nothing in particular to do with life. It's like ok let me live in the 60s and earlier basically when there was just starting to be electricity and TVs. But now without gaming, life just is boring as hell and would just suck. So overall no way, not giving it up for some money.

Or you buy a normal size beginner home. Don't buy a home for anyone else. Buy a Toyota Corolla for yourself and your wife. Now you've spent not even $500k. I picked $100k but honestly I don't even know this is tough I really love gaming and I'm still not sure I would do it.

Agreed you never buy homes for people especially ones they can’t afford after the fact

Plus you just can’t give someone a million because of what it does to their tax bracket

Now setting up college savings for their kids and being able to buy some nice things for them that fly under the radar and a small lump sum that taxes allow yearly is perfect

$10M should cover it. Then I can retire and travel til I die. Won't have time to play games.

But as long as I'm a wage slave, and can barely afford to travel to the fucking movies, I'll be keeping my gamez, thx.

I don’t know. I think it would be hard for me not to do. I would like the billion but I enjoy the relaxation video games give me. I would have to figure out something to replace it with.

Its a trick, un-answerable, impossible question -
because with the excess money I would want to spend it on games anyways.

Nope - couldn't do it.

No amount of money would tempt would to stop me from playing games. I can't think of any other hobby that gives me the enjoyment that playing games does.

Voted 1 Million. While I love gaming and have been doing it since pong, I recognize that it has probably hurt my productivity throughout my life.

I would take the million and invest it smartly, and live the rest of my life in relative comfort. I would read a lot more than I do now, and would try to cut youtube out while I was at it. Gaming and youtube are probably the two most unproductive things I do, and I spend almost all my free time on those things.

$100m

It would suck but don't think it would be that bad. Once you find another hobby you'll move on pretty easily imo.
