What the fuck: NFL Player Could Face 7 Years in Prison for Barking at Police K-9 dog

Oakland Raiders player Ray-Ray Armstrong is under police investigation for barking at a police dog and pounding his chest.

Armstrong, 24, reportedly lifted his shirt and taunted the animal shortly before the start of Sunday's NFL game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The linebacker could be charged with taunting a police K-9, a third degree felony in Pennsylvania.

"The dog was going crazy," chief deputy Kevin Kraus said.

"The deputy was trying to control the dog the best she could. We were immediately notified about the incident, and we immediately initiated a criminal investigation into the matter."

Police deputy Maria Watts, the dog's handler, identified Armstrong as the player involved in the alleged taunting.

She told WTAE Pittsburgh television that the player was shouting "Hey dog, hey dog" after leaving the locker room before the game.

"Bandit was very agitated. He wanted me to let him go. I imagine with his training and experience he would have gone to his target who was taunting him. I don't want to speculate on what he would have done," she said.

"No-one in the department, from the sheriff down, is happy about this."

A third-degree felony in Pennsylvania is punishable by up to seven years in jail and a maximum $15,000 fine. Other crimes in that category include 'reckless burning or exploding', 'terrorist threats' and 'carrying a gun in public without a permit'.

The local sheriff's office has notified both teams and the NFL that an investigation is under way.

The teams and the league declined to comment.

This is why DMX is a terrible role model!

It'll get smoothed over and he'll likely pay a fine. Cops vs NFL = NFL wins

Should we be reading into the fact that a black man pounding his chest and saying "hey dog" can get a trained police dog ready to kill?

"Could face". As in, theoretically possible if charged the absolute maximum charge available for the offense and then convicted and then sentenced to the absolute maximum penalty allowed for the offense.

This is the part where they reveal this is a joke right? No reasonable person would send someone to jail for 7 years for merely agitating a dog with some playful banter.

Well I just learned something today.

I'm not even going to call him stupid because that's honestly not something I would have thought as being illegal. Like how you can call a cop a piece a shit but they can't actually arrest you for simply doing that. (They'll get you for something else)

Heard about this after the game.. This is absurd. I didn't know this was a law, and I don't think it could possibly be enforced.

How is a fine reasonable here? It's a fucking dog. I'd really like to know when this law was written.

Did you read the article? If the Deputy had lost control that dog would have gone after the guy taunting him. The reason the law exists is to deter people from taunting the dog.

The issue is that he's riling up a trained police dog that could tear him to shreds if it got to him. Obviously, it's the cop's job to keep the K-9 secured, but the fine is for the player's abject stupidity putting people at risk.

I actually got in huge trouble as a kid for barking at a bomb sniffing dog that was practicing at the community center where I had daycare. Police told me if I were an adult I could have been arrested. I didn't actually believe them but I guess it's true?

Lol thank goodness that dog's 'training and experience' wasn't put on display. This sounds like it came directly from the officers' handbook of excuses for discharging their guns.

Fuck you and your deadly weapons on non-deadly targets.

This is why I hate when people start talking about the sentencing guidelines. The average kid on this forum has no idea what it actually means so we get people thinking he's literally going to get 7 years for taunting a police K-9.

HE IS NOT GOING TO GO TO PRISON FOR 7 YEARS.

I find the very idea of this leading to a police investigation inherently absurd, fair enough?

Taunting a dog should inherently be worse than taunting a human. The human should have self-control while the dog will react as it was trained to react to aggressive behavior.

Jail time is obviously still absurd in this case, but this should definitely be a crime.

Just fine him and move on.

Yeah that's exactly what I said in post 9.

sounds like you want him to go to jail ?

It absolutely does not. The First Amendment does not protect obscenity, child pornography, true threats, fighting words, incitement to imminent lawless action, criminal solicitation or defamation.

are you being dense or stupid on purpose ? did you even bother to read the post i quoted ?

I could walk out of my house right now and go up to a cop and say "hey there You dirty donut eating fat fuck pig" and guess what would happen ? NOTHING !!!!! but doesn't mean i will but i still got The First Amendment.

Ray Ray Armstrong has been hilariously bad all season but let's not pretend he will even step foot in a jail cell for more than a month or so.

Football players have got away with way way way worse

I think the dude needs help from someone who cares about him though. He seems to be in a different world everytime he steps on the field. He's known for jumping on piles 5 seconds after the play is over and injuring teammates

My god. I said "as he should" as in....he should face a fine. I then said, in the next sentence, that 7 years of prison doesn't fit the bill. That means it wouldn't be a fair punishment for the crime.

You can't actually read. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that english isn't your first language and repeat this for you. I'll even bold the part that would get you wrecked if you decided to test your hypothesis.

The First Amendment does not protect obscenity, child pornography, true threats, fighting words, incitement to imminent lawless action, criminal solicitation or defamation. You would absolutely get arested and charged with disorderly conduct if you went and said "hey there You dirty donut eating fat fuck pig".

Thought Emoji Movie was good. Take that as you will.
You'd never get 7 years for this.

This is how I feel about it. The maximum penalty for the fine is absolutely ridiculous, but you'd have to be a special sort of asshole to arbitrarily taunt a police dog.
