If this was Tom Brady the dog would have been put to sleep.
.This is why I hate when people start talking about the sentencing guidelines. The average kid on this forum has no idea what it actually means so we get people thinking he's literally going to get 7 years for taunting a police K-9.
HE IS NOT GOING TO GO TO PRISON FOR 7 YEARS.
Is it a crime to taunt a cop? Then why is it a crime to taunt a cop's dog?
Eh, I wouldn't really try it. Couldn't he get you for disorderly conduct?I could walk out of my house right now and go up to a cop and say "hey there You dirty donut eating fat fuck pig" and guess what would happen ? NOTHING !!!!! but doesn't mean i will but i still got The First Amendment.
would you walk up to a squad car and taunt a Police Officer?
"Bandit was very agitated. He wanted me to let him go. I imagine with his training and experience he would have gone to his target who was taunting him. I don't want to speculate on what he would have done," she said.
Should we be reading into the fact that a black man pounding his chest and saying "hey dog" can get a trained police dog ready to kill?
Fines should be proportionned to the income of the offenderTaunting a dog should inherently be worse than taunting a human. The human should have self-control while the dog will react as it was trained to react to aggressive behavior.
Jail time is obviously still absurd in this case, but this should definitely be a crime.
Just fine him and move on.
Unless the judge has a bad day and decides he doesn't like the defendant. This is why I hate when people start talking about the sentencing guidelines. this statement is baffling. is the dog trained or not? like, really wtf? imagine? speculate?
The police dog is trained to attack people (assist dogs are trained to ignore people). The attack is actually his reward, and police often allow the attack even when a suspect is under control, otherwise the dog's training is compromised.
Due to the idiotic decision on the part of the OP to include the maximum possible sentence for a class 3 felony in the thread title (which will never ever be applied in this case) this thread is now no longer about a player taunting a police officer (yes a K-9 is a sworn officer, start another thread if you want to freak out about that shit) but about HURR DURR 7 YEARS IN PRISON FUCK THIS DUMB COUNTRY.
Eh, I wouldn't really try it. Couldn't he get you for disorderly conduct?
How is a fine reasonable here? It's a fucking dog. I'd really like to know when this law was written.

What?? That dog is a dangerous animal trained to track and disable at a moment's notice, and it's more or less police equipment. This immature dick made a dog wild with rage, making the police officers have to spend time and energy to calm the dog down. Taunting a dog isn't the issue here, in a way it was taunting the police officers and disrupting their jobs basically. I don't think this guy should get prison time but he does have to seriously smarten up, it was just a dumb thing to do.
The maximum sentence is what they hang over your head to force compliance in whatever sort of punishment they want to issue in lieu of the max, so its still relevant. Maybe not so much for a rich person that can afford a proper defense but say Joe schmo was hit with the same charge. The DA offers a month in jail, or a week... Or even a day. Poor Joe jumps at it because hell a month is better than 7 years even though for something like this even a day is too much.Due to the idiotic decision on the part of the OP to include the maximum possible sentence for a class 3 felony in the thread title (which will never ever be applied in this case) this thread is now no longer about a player taunting a police officer (yes a K-9 is a sworn officer, start another thread if you want to freak out about that shit) but about HURR DURR 7 YEARS IN PRISON FUCK THIS DUMB COUNTRY.
Dogs aren't pieces of equipment, they are sentient beings
hahahahha dat thread whining
you seem really emotional do you want a hug ?

So police k9s have the same amount of restraint as their human counterparts.
This is ridiculous. They are basically admitting to having a dangerous weapon they can barely control around the general public.

Yes it is. Not just cops either.
Because clickbait thread titles muddy the waters for the people trying to discuss the actual issue. Can I ask why you seem to be so emotionally invested in this thread?
Hey, cops, control your weapons.

The dog didn't maul the guy and claim it had to do it because it feared for its life. The dog reacted the same way any other cop would.
I always laugh when these clickbait articles put in the max penalties in order to stir up outrage. The actual penalty will be much lower if at all.
Is it? How does taunting escape First Amendment protection? the fighting words exception that isn't really much of an exception? I'd like to know how you're defining a "taunt."
An investigation over taunting a dog? LOL
The First Amendment does not protect obscenity, child pornography, true threats, fighting words, incitement to imminent lawless action, criminal solicitation or defamation. You would absolutely get arested and charged with disorderly conduct if you went and said "hey there You dirty donut eating fat fuck pig".
