What was the most fun/worst time you had getting a platinum trophy?

I can only remember the worst which is Shadow of the Colossus. I didn't even get the trophy either but I tried until the horrible fucking controls made me give the game away. Just thinking about that game fills me with rage!

Most Fun:
Resogun or Persona 4: Golden

Worst Time:
Sound Shapes. Looking back, it wasn't all that hard and didn't take me very long... but some of those death mode levels really had me really frustrated for a bit. Very stressful but very satisfying, though, when you finally beat them so I guess it wasn't all bad.

Best: Probably resogun, such a fun game to play and very easy game to plat. Just got south park plat too, very fun game, enjoy running through it 3 times to get all the trophies.

Worst: Gotta be rock band 2. Loved those game back when they were very popular a couple years ago, but man the endless setlist trophy is a bitch. 80 something songs and you cant pause or fail, takes sooooo many hours.

Also random side note, anyone got a warhawk plat? That game seems impossible to plat.

Best time: Probably Infamous Second Son this week. Had a lot of fun playing it through on Expert, game was short enough that I still wanted more after one playthrough, so my Evil run was still fun. The only tedious part was zooming around the city waiting for the last few Musicians to spawn when everything else was done.

Platinuming MGS3 was a good one, too. I did it all in one slow, languid playthrough, listening to every radio conversation and finding every hidden thing I'd missed in one of my favourite games ever.

Worst: MGS4 has a bunch of flashback pictures during its cutscenes that are activated by hammering the X button when a prompt comes up. Of course, there are also hidden flashbacks, so without a good guide to tell you when they are you just have to be mashing the X button all the time. And, because I happened to miss one flashback on my first try, I ended up having to watch all the cutscenes over again. And then again and again until I finally found the one I'd missed. I probably had to watch all the cutscenes three and a half times. I like MGS4 much more than your average MGS fan, but man it gets tedious watching Snake do all those voiced ellipses.

Most fun: Bioshock and Mirror's Edge.
Bioshock becomes a very fun and exciting game when you have to play on the hardest dificulty and without the vita chambers. Should have been the default mode really.
And Mirror's Edge truly shines after you've mastered the more complex moves which are required to beat the time trials.

Worst: Nier and Heavy Rain.
Nier required dozens of hours of the most mindnumbingly boring farming for all sort of crap items to forge useless weapons that you were never going to use anyway. It made Demon's Souls farming look like fun.
For Heavy Rain you had to replay certain parts of the game over and over to get all diferent outcomes. My patience was already wearing thin with it during the first playthrough but having to do it many diferent times killed a part of my soul.

I'll try to rate my platted game's fun factor

Infamous 2
- 8/10
- Easy trophies and it forces you to play both sides

Zombie Driver
- 3/10
- Fun for a while but I find story mode boring. The Survival mode is quite fun though.

Tales of Xillia
- 6/10
- I think it greatly depends on whether or not you enjoy grinding. I for one, enjoyed it. There's trophy for each character where you should perform a number or moves which forces you to play every character but it might be boring and too tasking for some.

Castlevania Lords of Shadow
- 4/10
- If I remember correctly, you have to finish the game twice. Once in any difficulty and once for the hardest difficulty. The replay value is not good so I gave it a 4.

Saints Row the Third
- 8/10
- Easy trophies and fun game

Mass Effect 3
- 6/10
- There's not much interesting trophies but I hate the difficulty based trophy

Rainbow Moon
- 4/10
- I usually enjoy grinding but I hated it here. The characters are not interesting and evry battle felt like a chore because of too many enemies in the field

Sleeping Dogs
- 8/10
- Fun trophies except for the random street events which can get frustrating to search. Also, I hate collecting those briefcases and health shrines

Ni No Kuni
- 9/10
- I really enjoyed the game and its aesthetics so I'm partial to this but collecting monster is fun!

Resident Evil 5
- 6/10
- I always hate difficulty based trophies. i spent a lot of time dying here.

Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning
- 5/10
- I was burned out during the late stages of the game and collecting plants was a real pain

Skyrim
- 7/10
- Pretty diverse trophy list that forces you to try out each school and explore the world. I enjoyed playing in Skyrim and don't get the gaf hate it received

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
- 3/10
- there is a lot of grinding involved trying to get "S" class for each mission.

I'll maybe post more later...

Most fun: Infamous 1

Its reasonably easy, with a minimum of grinding (¬¬), no multiplayer nonsense, a lot of them come naturally over the course of the game as long as you use a good variety of the powers, none of the content needs to be recycled aside from the main missions, finding the collectibles is relatively enjoyable, Hard difficult mode is perfectly balanced

Least fun: Red Dead Redemption

The grinding needed to get that final MP trophy. Hours upon hours upon hours upon hours spent doing the rounds through the Gang Hideouts. ACIV was a pain in the arse, but this takes the biscuit.

Most fun? Resogun. It was short and sweet but definitely a bit difficult. Beating the game without a continue was a fun accomplishment and being forced to save all the humans led to a different play style. I think it's the only game ever where at some point I didn't get bored or frustrated getting a platinum. Honorable mention: Guacamelee!

Least fun? Tearaway. Glitchy paper scraps not counting or showing. Having to replay that boring level over and over again to get the stack of 6 trophy because they accidentally killed themselves. I was just so close after finishing the game that I decided to platinum it and I still regret it forcing myself to get the glitches all scraps trophy.

Tearaway is my one and only platinum (not counting The Walking Dead) and it was a lot of fun to get. I would really have to enjoy a game to go after the platinum

Ah, forgot about Sleeping Dogs. Only trophy in that which was a pain in the arse was the cockfighting one. Getting top rank in the main missions was surprisingly easy.

If I am not having a good time Trophy hunting, I will generally stop Trophy hunting.
So by definition, all Platinums I got (13) were fun.

I thought burnout paradise was fun but that camera trophy ruined it. Sold the game.

Tekken 6 plat is easy but grinding items for that train level. My god.

I do it arse about face

If the MP-grind trophies in ACIV and RDR were the first ones I went for, instead of the last, there's no chance I'd have gone for the Platinum. But when your Trophy progress is already at 98%, I can't help it :P

Most fun/worst/challenging:

Metal Gear Rising
Devil May Cry

No other game that I've platinumed comes close to the variety of emotions I felt during those two.

Most fun - Atelier Ayesha. This is the first game in the series where it wasn't completely tedious to get the plat. These games always have trophies for the various endings, and to get all of these endings in the old games you would need to do some save manipulation bullshit, that I could never bother with. In this one though, you could choose from all the endings you qualified for at the end.

It was super fun to start a new game+, going through the game with a guide and just completely breaking everything. Just freaking stomped most of the bosses and when I had everything done, there was still another year left of ingame time to do things. Felt super satisfying.

And then I guess Nier would technically qualify as the least fun. Before I started on the farming/grinding materials trophies, my ingame time was at 20 hours. When I was done, it was at 70 hours. It's by far the biggest grind I've ever partaken in in a game and having to adjust the clock constantly for the system clock, only to have the items not appear, was pretty mind numbing. But in the end, I felt pretty satisfied with this one too. Nier is by far my favourite game of this gen, that's the only reason for even attempting to get the plat.

most fun - Vanquish - It was a difficult platinum but it was very skill based as the challenges really made you master the gmaes mechanics

worst - FF13 - just a bunch of garbage grinding, very drawn out platinum and not fu nat all.

Most fun: Mirro's Edge.

mirrors-edge-iphone-packshot.jpg

Worst? If it's not fun I stop trying, so I only platinum if its fun.

You have tons of my respect

My funniest platinum? Little Big Planet (s) I love finding prize bubbles, creating levels and play them with my friends - 3 games 3 plats

Worst? In recent times Hotline Miami: I hate that purple puzzle pieces and I didn't love to be forced to kill with every shooting, throwing, melee weapon, so frustrating...

Do you guys reckon Platinums should be rewarded with avatars/themes/soundtracks/in-game extras/early access to sequel demos&betas/MP-skins etc?

100% yes.
I have always thought that if you get a platinum, you should get an avatar as a prize.
I can't think how it would cost them anything.

Infamous 1 was a complete ball ache after I completed the Good game and had to re-do it as Evil and collect the shards. It got incredibly repetitive and boring.

Best that I remember was Hotline Miami. Not only was it fun to see how better I could improve my combos but gave me the alternative ending which I probably wouldn't have pursued without trophies.

Best: ICO. Really enjoyed doing the speed run.
Worst: Uncharted 1 or Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Ugh.

Stunts kept me away from getting platinum on that one

Wipeout HD - Not sure if "Fun" is the right word for it but certainly the most rewarding for me :)

It broke my damn soul man but man a game hasn't had it's in me like that for a long time! And I still don't have that Bling Brigade trophy either!

Dark Souls was the most fun

Sound Shapes would be my most tedious if it wasn't impossible to obtain...

Really answer maybe inFamous because i was stuck on the last blast shard for like 5 hours.

Most Fun: Resident Evil 5
RE5 (Not counting the versus trophies which I have) is by far my most fun 100%. It's just the perfect difficulty. It has a good challenge but there's nothing there that is so ridiculous or over the top that you just want to never bother or hate the game afterwards. Apparently it was also one of the highest games with player completion so that speaks volumes about how great the list was.

The WORST:Madden 2008 or 2006
I hate sports game but when I was in a achievement race these games helped get my score up pretty quick. But still absolutely dislike sports games so even though being short it was still quite painful for me. This was the lowest I ever stooped for GS.

Runner Up: Call of Duty Black Ops. I should have 1000 in this game I beat it on Veteran and got all the other achievements......But the game had a glitch that prevented some players from getting the last achievement for beating the game on veteran even if they did. I had to deal with that and was so mad. Though the bright side of that was that it helped curb my addicition to achievements. Don't much care for them now and only bother with the games I really really like.

Most fun was Akrham Asylum - so good I did it three times. Once on Xbox, once on the standard PC edition and once on the GOTY PC release.

Least fun? None because I give up if the plat is too tedious.

Most fun was definitely Burnout Paradise. The coop challenges were excellent, I loved the racing, the game on whole was just such a blast. I just gave my copy to my godson and "helped" him get started. Jeez, it is still such a beautiful and perfect racer. NFS Hot Pursuit was also fun.

Most tedious was probably Mafia 2. Collecting all the wanted posters was a chore, but the fact that there is absolutely no way to save the game progress except at mission checkpoints made it even more annoying. Also, there was a bug at the final parts of the game that made it impossible to continue, and I had to replay the two worst gunfights of the whole game all over again. At the end, I was just happy to get rid of it.

My most fun platinum was probably Guacamelee, and my least fun was probably Sound Shapes. I fucking hate death mode. I haven't bothered to go for any plats in a while though.

I've only got the 3: Lego Marvel, FIFA and Infamous: SS

Best was Lego Marvel, I loved unlocking a load of obscure characters like Ant Man.

Worst was FIFA 14, mostly because it had a bug before a recent patch which meant that I couldn't get the "Fancy some FUT?" trophy until something about a special pack came on the front screen of the game.

The most fun platinum trophies for me:
  • Burnout Paradise. I did not grind out a 100% of trophies after they released all that DLC, but I did get the orignal platinum. The most fun I ever had on PS3.
  • Darksiders. The last missing trophy was a bitch to get (Panzer Dragoon style section where you need to shoot down a specific amount of enemies). The platinum after that was a great reward.
  • Ratchet and Clank Nexus. Fun little game, easy platinum.
Worst platinums? No, I do not grind for trophies in games that I do not care for.

Most fun was probably Devil May Cry HD. It's a challenge, but it's fair.

Final Fantasy X or X-2 HD will probably be the most tedious for me. The lighting bolt dodging challenge for X and getting 100% in X-2.

I only have 2, ratchet and clank and the green lantern game

Have 1000gs on Captain America though!

Ratchet was the most fun and the worst though. I didn't like their fake robotron-ish arcade game at all. Was the last trophy I got in it

The most fun I had? - Mirror's Edge. I liked speedrunning a lot more than I thought I would; what a fantastic game.

Worst time? - I think I'd have to give that to Dungeon Defenders. It was fun grinding with a friend at first, but man repeating the levels over and over for gear just to complete the nightmare levels really gnawed away at my patience.

Close second would be FFXIII. Farming those stupid Adamantoises was just painful.

I would only attempt it if I loved the game so the worst isn't bad or anything but:

Best - Sega MegaDrive Ultimate Collection. Most of the games have a trophy and every one can be earned in the first thirty minutes of play. It ends up feeling like your own wee episode of Game Center CX as you try to meet the criteria for each one and nothing is difficult enough to be frustrating. It's a good way to experience these old games and get something from them as realistically I'm not going to play any of them to completion these days.

Worst - Demon's Souls. As noted above, not bad as such, but the tension in trying to get some of the missable drops was almost too much. Pure Bladestone you will get if you put the time in but Pure Moonstone and Darkmoonstone both come from enemies that only spawn a limited number of times which is a pain as is the manipulation of world tendency you need to do for certain events. I've done it twice but I'll probably never do the NA version.

Not sure on most fun... Resogun probably. I really enjoyed that game. Schizoid was another that was a blast and challenging.

Least favorite would probably be AC1. I still don't understand why I bothered getting it, I guess I thought achievements were cool back then haha. Collecting all of those flags sucked!

I only have two but Resogun is my favourite.

Interestingly, it's also the only time I feel like chasing trophies has ever benefitted me directly in game. Going for some of the Resogun trophies actually taught me how, when and why to utilise the full tool set better, and that resulted in me obviously being better at the game. I'm not usually one for trophy chasing at all but kudos to Housemarque for that.

I haven't got it yet, but getting the Platinum in Rayman Legends is just awful. Being #1 on a daily challenge is next to impossible.

there was a glitch on the extreme daily challenge on RL on Vita a few days back, meant if you got to around 1 min 25 secs or so of a murphy challenge you were tied for first with everyone else who did it, that is the only way I would ever grab that trophy.

I found getting the platinum for the first Dead Space was challenging, fun and rewarding. Gravity Rush is also up there as I just loved being in the world and cleaning up the challenges made me appreciate the game. Got all the trophies in the dlc as well.

Worst by far was Resistance Burning Skies. One of the easiest but the game was terrible in every way. It was miserable getting through. I literally got the platinum the second day and sold it back to Gamestop.

Most fun I had was Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing. It wasn't a hard plat, and the wife and I just got drunk and played it a lot.

Most tedious (but still fun) was Demon's Souls. Farming that pure bladestone was a nightmare.
