What Xbox360 games are you getting a launch?

There isn't an official schedule yet, so I have no idea why these threads keep coming up. But anyway.. I'm intersted in around 30 games that have been announced for the system so far, but as far as I know my launch list is:

Project Gotham Racing 3
Kameo Elements of Power
Dead or Alive 4
Saints Row
Madden NFL 06
NBA Live 06
Need for Speed Most Wanted
Perfect Dark Zero
Ghost Recon
Dead Rising!!

Count me in for the Full Auto bandwagon, I think the game looks awesome from the vids I've seen.
But I'm thinking I'll be able to get a couple of games with the system at launch and plan on getting these:

For sure:
PDZ
Full Auto

Considering:
Madden (if it's different enough from the XBox version)
An NBA game is there is one that GAF jumps on and it plays well.
Call of Duty 2
Saints Row

I'll game for anything really, I'll just have to wait and see some reviews and go from there.

Do you think the websites and magazines will have reviews out before the system even launches?

I have a question. Theoretically, it's the same setup so here it is. With the 360 able to play music from your portable media player, it's essentially using it as a hard drive, right? Now, with that said, couldn't I just hook up an external HD to the USB port and basically do the same thing? I don't want to buy another media player until Creative comes out with some 80GB players. That should work, right?

It's a bit early for me to say..I think I'll have a much better idea after TGS and X05. But, for now the dead certs are:

PGR3
Oblivion
CoD2

-don't care about sports games
-don't care about non-arcadey racers
-don't care (much) about console fps games
-don't care about western styled rpg's

That rules out most of the AAA titles in the 'launch window', so I think that just leaves Kameo and Full Auto, maybe Saint's Row. If DoA didn't have such a terrible history I'd pick it up, although hopefully Itagaki can turn it around with this iteration. TBH even these aren't terribly exciting to me either.

yes ... it's quite common, AFAIK, for people to release reviews of launch games a few days before the system launches.. and at the very least, there should be some in-depth previews available...

Ghost Recon is the only for sure title for me at launch.

However, I'll be renting the following (using free coupons), and will buy if they have legs:

DOA4
Full Auto
Tiger Woods
PGR3
Perfect Dark
Kameo
King Kong (2 weeks later, right?)

Of course I'll get Ridge Racer whenever it is available.

I really don't see Perfect Dark and Kameo coming out at the same time, do you?

I'll do what I do with every new console, start reading up and looking at screens two weeks before hand. I hate previews unless the game is one where there's so many details involved (GTA) or is due out within a week or two.

To be honest, were I in your position I wouldn't even bother to get one at launch since non of the games you're interested in are really "system sellers".

Shoot, watching some videos now just put The Outfit, Full Auto, and Madden06 into the Must Buy category... I think I am going to dump my xbox now and get some credit for it while it is still there. I can survive on PS2 and Dreamcast only for the next 3 months.

So it looks like I am going to get at launch:

Madden06
Full Auto
The Outfit
Dead or Alive 4
Need for Speed: Most Wanted
NHL2k6
Saints Row
Perfect Dark 0

I'll for sure get 99 Nights if it turns out to be the next-gen Kingdom under Fire clone it looks like it is leaning toward.

Possibly I will get Project Gotham Racing 3, Top Spin as well.... Damn... I am so glad the PS3 got bumped to next year. I just wish there was a Fight Night or WWE game at the Xbox launch... That would be awesome.

I had tried to not pay attention to the next gen stuff, but it is all due to that coupon from Gamestop... I couldn't resist getting into next gen early with a ton of store credit.
Goodbye Xbox, I can't wait for the 360!

I think i'm going to be all about PGR3. I'm a huge PGR2 fan, i've played it so much that my profile timer stopped. :lol

I never saw a release date for Saint's Row. All I can find right now is a TBA for this title. Is it actually a launch title?

First of all - I'm buying a new TV. I just haven't figured out which one yet, and I probably won't feel comfortable taking the plunge until October or so.

As for games for the 360:

Madden
Call of Duty 2
Saints Row

I am about 75% sure on The Outfit - especially if it is similar to Mercenaries, but still has realistic WWII missions and characters (can you imagine taking down Hitler, Goebbels, Goering and Himmler - as the "Ace" cards - LOL! That would never happen though).

Saints Row
Madden 06 - believe THAT!
Oblivion - for reasons I can't even figure out
Live 06

Not really sure if I'm getting one yet, though. I want to know the price of the PS3 first. If it's too high, I'll get the 360 at launch. Otherwise I might wait a bit. But I think it's PS3 and 360 for this coming gen. Nintendo's gonna have to work a miracle to convince me. PEACE.

EDIT: Oh hell, and PGR3, which I almost forgot. Never played the previous 3 games (MSR included), but they get a lot of positive reviews on here.

YES
-Call of Duty 2

MAYBE
-Perfect Dark Zero (still waiting on new media and impressions)
-Ghost Recon 3 (still waiting on PS3 port info)
-Condemned (see GR3)
-Need for Speed: Most Wanted (see Condemned)
-Dead or Alive 4

Very excited. Still praying for good backwards compatibility.

BTW, is CoD2 being ported to PS3?

Why not just wait to get a PS3?

Because I have a LIVE account right now and nothing really appeals to me outside of what I've listed.

That, and I like to have the best experience possible.

Getting the best graphics and online experience avaliable matters when you can own all three systems you know.

Uh, why would he do that exactly?

So, I spent a little while today trying to look up some more of the "launch" games for Xbox 360. There's not one single game that would make me want the 360 at launch right now. But there's really not that much known about a lot of them and no one knows how many will really be launch titles.

From his post, it seems like the PS3 will be his primary console. If it isn't, why wait for a game at least 6 months down the road? I don't understand that train of thought. Unless, it would be eons greater. Now, with these going from Xbox 360 to maybe Playstation 3, the trade off is maybe better graphics, but you also bring in the substantially lesser online plan. Besides, owning 3 consoles isn't a big deal. If you can afford it, everyone should do it. I shall do it again next generation

The difference mostly comes down to a couple things:

1) Why would anyone buy the same game for three different consoles?

2) Which console offers the most visually pleasing experience and most intuitive interface (ie: controller)?

3) Will Sony have their own online service? How much will that factor affect LIVE going into the future?

If Sony can manage a bare bones plan that is comparable with LIVE, then I would have no reason to purchase a game like Ghost Recon 3 for 360 when I can play it on the PS3 with better graphics and a similar online plan.

But if the 360 version is visually comparable (or superior) to the PS3 version and stomps all over the PS3 online mode (providing that Ubisoft even cares), then my decision is definite.

Anyone who buys two or three versions of the same game obviously does so for gimmicks.

Now I'm not saying the PS3 will be my primary console, but having the "best" version makes multiplatform choices much easier.

See GTA on Xbox for a great example.

oblivion. That is the only reason I am interested in an x360. Great for MS that they're getting all this japanese support, too bad it's all genres and games (Jrpgs, RR, or RE? No thx) I don't give a shit for.

Yes, that seems to be the case. You can also just stream it over the network from your PC.

Test Drive: Unlimited even streams from the internet :)

Yes, it is slated for the Launch Window (2005). We have no idea what will be day one though.

I'll get the X360 at launch IF they announce any train driving or horse racing games on Monday. Par Singh, don't fail me now... JOCKEY'S ROAD FOREVAR!

None. the only games I'm interested in for all consoles are few and far between.

I'm 35 in a few weeks and have less time than ever for gaming, so when I do it has to be a game that just totally entralls me.

Halo3, SSX4, Ghost Recon 3 (if UBI allows multi team/player control again.

PGr3 and RR are maybe's but I'm a sucker for arcade racers.

Definitely:
-The one I'm working on
-PGR3
-Unannounced Arcade game

Maybe:
-Kameo
-Call of Duty
-Ghost Recon
-Madden
-NFS
-Unannounced Arcade game

What are Unnanounced Arcade Game 1 and 2 (stuff on Monday maybe?). Tell us what you're working on too! heh

He works on the Xbox Live Arcade team, IIRC, so I imagine he is referring to that :)

i'm interested in oblivion, 99 nights, chrome hounds, and of course the rumored ridge racer 360. if none of them are at launch, i doubt i'll buy the console at launch.

I have no idea when they'll announce the arcade portfolio or the title I'm working on. The one I'm working on is pretty cool, and I think there's a good chance some of you will get it :)

Must Buy
Dead or Alive 4
Test Drive Unlimited (so long as the online continues to sound as good as it did at E3)

Probably Buying
Ninety-Nine Nights (is this even confirmed for US launch?)
Need for Speed Most Wanted

If Oblivion, 99 Nights, and the rumored RR 360 are at launch, then I will buy a 360 with these three. Otherwise, that's all that I am interested as far as launch lineup goes. Keep in mind, I am a big Perfect Dark fan. The written impressions restored some of my faith in the game but this alone will not sell me on a 360 unless it really turns out to be excellent. Otherwise, I can wait to purchase it when the games that I am really interested start showing up, which is the same time I will pick up the system as well.

Dead Rising is a "launch title"? I'm definitely looking forward to that!

As I said, these threads make no sense unless we have an accurate schedule to go by.

Someone is getting it for me for Christmas - So, every game I want, I won't get , and every game I specifically don't want, I'll get. You know how it goes...

"Mario 64, and nothing else."

"I got your n64, with every game they had except mario 64."

"Thanks.."

Dead Rising looks promising. I'm interested to see where Inafune goes with it. Still, not enough to get me to purchase the system at launch.

According to TXB it is, but who knows. It was playable at E3 though so I don't doubt it.

and yeah, this thread is premature
