What's the absolute worst game of 2014 you played?

Exactly. I really liked Kingdoms of Amalur, hundreds of fetchquests but they were all better than the sidequests in Dragon Age Inquisition. And yeah...the battle system is a joke. I'm avoiding fights just because it's not fun to play.
The actual side quests that aren't fetch missions was not that bad in DA:I, the problem with it is that there is so much mundane useless mmo style content to go with it.

I feel like Bioware lost themselves somewhere in their desire to make the world so big. It is indeed big but the amount of worthwhile content a world of that size needs just isn't there.

I don't think it's a bad game at all, but I am baffled that it is getting so much love.

The only thing remotely impressive about it are the graphics. Everything else ranges from atrocious to mediocre.

And people talk up all the "content" in the game, when it really isn't any better than Kingdom of Amalur, which everyone shit on for its 100 hundreds of fetchquests. In fact, in some ways it's worse because the battle system is so much worse.

haha yes so true, but you couldn't have so many relationships in kingdom of amalur :)
I'm having fun with dragon age, I'm more pissed that its so dumbed down and the menus are crap and I just unlocked an area that is 10lvls below me so its basically pointless for me to even clear it. and I'm not grinding at all I'm just clearing area after area and all I get is crap that's worse than what I'm wearing. not cool.

I said watch_dogs was the worst, but I gotta retract (it's the second worst game then), I remembered by reading:

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2

This was the worst game I've played in ages, I reached almost to the half of it, but couldn't stand it anymore. This rarely happens to me, I just go into masochist mode and finish the game I started. I couldn't do that with this shit.

Real disappointment, specially since I loved the first lords of shadow.

Destiny is easily my #1 on the list of "games I anticipated so much and sent back so fast" so I'm tempted to go with that

For wii u it's donkey Kong.Don't like that shit at all but it's by far not the"worst" game

I don't think I've played any outright terrible games, just found a lot of shit I don't like.

Edit: I fucking forgot that watch dogs even exists. It's watch dogs.

Dead Rising 3. A shallow shell of its former self and an insultingly condescending game on its own rights. It's astounding just how badly the developers screwed this one up.

Destiny. To be fair, I didn't play that many games this year. But I still think Destiny is a legitimately bad game. Probably not worse than Rambo or The Crew or something like that, but bad nonetheless.

I guess Watch Dogs, but that was only for a bit at a friend's house.

I managed to avoid most of the games that got hate this year. MCC, Unity, Destiny, ect. Such is the benefit of being a cheap bastard that waits for price drops and to see how a game is received before buying.

AC: Unity and The Crew.

Both were huge disappointments and didn't seem like polished complete projects. It's like paying $60 for an early access game.

Killzone Shadowfall,Infamous:Second Son,Wolfenstein:TNO and Shadow of Mordor (couldn't even finish this piece of shit)

I'm surprised to see this much hate on Destiny.

I'm still having a good time.
I think a lot of people weren't prepared to MMO. The grind can be shocking to some especially in a FPS where grinds aren't generally a thing.

I think it was Watch_Dogs. I don't think it's a bad game game, but it stands out in my mind as the worst due to its wasted potential, and that it was 'just good' while everything else I've played has been better.

what the fuck

what the fuck

I know its funny, I enjoyed watchdogs I just think they should have ditched the open world and made more simi-linear lvls I really loved the "hacking" so much so that I missed it everytime I played a batman game or GTA.

killzone was good Wolfenstien was good second son was good. the only game that wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be was Destiny but I still got many many hours of good times from it.

Strike Suit Zero. Thought it would scratch the same itch as Project Sylpheed on 360 but I didn't find it fun at all.

It's a lot better in VR. Or at least it was when it launched when it was like the 2nd commercial game with OR support.

These days it's smarter to play something like Elite Dangerous or wait for Eve Valkyrie.

Starfox U hopefully will be amazing.

I'm amazed at the number of people of people who can't read the headline and are posting games that weren't released in 2014.

Destiny was the worst game of 2014 i played. I prioritize stories and would much rather acceptable mechanics and a great story than great mechanics and a terrible story.

Well, considering it's what I played, I guess it's Destiny

Which sucks, I don't think it's a bad game. Gunplay's great but it has issues and shortcomings elsewhere, so it's average for me. It doesn't qualify for a bad game since it's playable and you can have a lot of fun playing it, but other factors just prevent it from being good. It takes the right middle there for me.

Everything else I played was good or amazing, which kinda makes me realize what a good gaming year it's been for me if a game I still enjoyed was the worst thing I played from this year.

Destiny pisses me off more than anything else I've played this year.

But in the absence of me buying anything I'd consider outright "bad" this year, I guess it'd be something I didn't like from Plus. So, Mercenary Kings.

Dark Souls 2.

Loved Demons Souls and Dark Souls to death but hated the latest one. The lack of atmosphere, wierd feeling controlls, bad level design, broken PvP and lame bosses. That's not even all.

The game felt like Commercial Souls.
"We put lots of stuff for you so you can die even more often!"

The people that have said Mordor, have you gotten past the first few hours? That's when the game started to click for me, and I had a blast playing it.

Well said. I was very disappointed too, for the same reasons.

Bloodborne will come soon and make it all better.

Destiny by miles. Huge disappointment.

Infamous SS was the only game i didnt finish this year. Way too much focus on style and traversal. The offensive powers lacked variety and were just not fun to use. It was a huge step back from prior infamous games, where I felt like i could do way more damage and destruction.

Probably Mount and Blade: Viking Conquest. I guess technically its a DLC, but its basically unplayable in its current form. I really liked Warband and With Fire and Sword too.

I had fun with DS2 though I'd say my main complaint apart from strangely connected zones is the difficulty seemed for the most part was just to add more bosses to the fight like instead of 2 gargoyles let's put 3 in.

Mercenary Kings was pretty fucking abysmal. I tried it out thinking it would be like Metal Slug x Metroid but it was actually more like a load of shit x a blender.

Definitely Mercenary Kings for me. Repetitive, boring layouts, long load times, glitches and crashes.

Waste of time. No cash outlay thanks to PS+, but that game wasn't free; I paid with my life.

It's sad, but the game that comes to mind for me is Watchdogs, I'm sure there are hundreds that we're worse. But I tent not to play games I expect to be bad.

Gone Home - I didn't have fun playing it, nor could I get into/relate to the story at all. Walking simulators just aren't for me...

Suikoden IV - Terrible world map, ugly graphics, extremely small scope, barely any difficulty (aside from a challenging final boss), a lack of characterization compared to other games in the series, and a plot that feels so inconsequential.

Okay, I went and checked, and Destiny's been mentioned by about a hundred different people in both this thread and the GOTY voting thread.
