I liked a thread like this on the site that shall not be named, and wanted to carry my tally over here and see if others are interested in participating (I won't bump if it sinks like a rock).

It's a little harder to jump in mid year, but I did over there as well by looking at my digital store purchase and online purchases (I didn't have any in-store purchases other than Best Buy which also show up online. In any case, feel free to just guesstimate your year-to-date expenditures/sales and track going forward if you'd like!.

Overall I'm very pleased my out of pocket costs have been so low--largely due to selling off my racing wheel/pedal/stand that was just gathering dust. My regretted list/amount is too high though and I need to be better about not impulse buying things--and I have as most of those were early in the year purchases before I decided to cut back and be more vigilant on my spending.

Wow. I have no idea but over $1,000 because I upgraded my gaming PC.

I should keep track detailed stats like this. I love to see trends and stuff but I'm too negligent to keep records...

No better time to start than now!

Or wait until start of August if you don’t want to look up your July amounts. :)

Lets see, probably a lot lower than some other people on this forum.

Kingdom Come Deliverance: $60
Persona 5 PS3 version $30
Deus Ex Mankind Divided: $4.00
A new Xbox controller and charger for my PC: $70

Total: $164

Working full time, having a GF and other hobbies, there's just not as much time to play games as I would like.

-Celeste (EShop)-$19.99
-Dragon Quest Builders (Eshop)-$49.99
-Hollow Knight (Eshop)-$14.99
Why? Those games are awesome...maybe not so much DQB on switch, due to performance. But celeste and Hollow Knight have been critically praised a lot.

Interesting thread, I actually have a monthly software budget, $60. Why? Cause this year I decided that I would stop buying games, my backlog is huge! So I get games on sale or just one day one game a month. Some months I don't even spend too much, since I'm tackling that backlog.

I don't keep track of that sort of thing, but I just spent about $580 with tax on my steering wheel setup for racing games so I wouldn't be shocked if I hit $1k this year

I was surprised to see that too. Hollow Knight looks awesome.

To clarify, my regrets list isn't games that are objectively bad or anything, just games I bought and personally ended up not having fun with.

Dragon Quest Builders I just found boring. It was a dumb purchase as I've never been able to get into Minecraft, don't like the building in Fortnite etc. I though it having a story might change that, but nope.

Celeste (I did force myself to at least beat the story) and Hollow Knight are GREAT games from a design standpoint. Just not my cup of tea as I just don't have the skill or patience for hard as fuck platformers anymore. I more into easier, story driven games or Nintendo's easier fare like Mario Odyssey or Captain Toad these days as I mostly play to unwind and relax, not for challenge. Hype got to me with those two and I'm working on ignoring hype and just sticking with what I know I like and am in the mood for at a given time.

I posted a tad more details on Hollow Knight here this morning.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

I'm pretty sure this is included in the season pass and you won't have to pay anything additional. Unless of course you want the physical release for some reason - which itself just contains a download code I believe.

Thanks for reply. This a big story DLC so I thought I still need pay even with season pass.

Not exactly sure on time line but.

Xbox one X $499

55in 4k TV $300

Red Dead Redemption GOTY - $29.99
Rocket League $7.99
Ghost Recon Wildlands $45.00
Forza Horizon 3 $25.00

Xbox game pass current $11.00

Total: $917.98

Considering this year was a hardware purchase year for me, it is a lot more than what I would normally spend in a year.

I would say my gaming habits are around $100 a year. Give or take $20.

I’m looking at a trip to Japan for my birthday in April and will be moving to either Japan or HK for work next year so I’m thinking I might start doing this.

I went ahead and set up a Video Game fund in my Qapital app for easy saving, but I need to watch my expenses more this year.

The only things I know I’ll be getting are DQXI and RDR2 and I have credit on PSN for those two. Otherwise my year should be clear game wise.

Early next year is gonna suck though with KH and Code Vein.

I would say my gaming habits are around $100 a year. Give or take $20.
I fucking wish. Impulse purchases (despite a big backlog) always kill me.

Well I have a special situation where I live with a very very big enthusiast of video games. He lets me borrow whatever he buys.

He easily spends $300+ a month on gaming stuff so outside of digital items I can piggy back off his purchases.

That makes sense. Lucky for sure. I just wish I had somebody to PSN share with but either the people that will I don't trust lol or the people I do trust have moved to PC as main platform.

I've got a lot of games from last year and some from Christmas I'm slowly working through so I'd rather not add to the list. Currently going through Final Fantasy X-2 for the platinum trophy. 100% story completion is so boring but it's keeping me occupied and saving me money.

Total - 623$

Aside from a few exceptions I buy all my Sony stuff from the playstation store on heavy discount. Sure the PS+ membership brings my Sony total up to 700$ but i still end up saving quite a bit.

As for regrets:

Tekken 7 - season pass is terrible, character customization is still poor, visuals are ugly, and the single player content is almost 0. I'm more of casual Tekken player so this ended up being a total waste.

Dragonball FighterZ - no legacy stick support, online was unplayable for the first two months, story mode was terrible, and the season pass was also crap. This was my big birthday purchase and I don't touch it at all anymore. After how great central fiction and Xrd rev2 were this was just unacceptable from arcsys.

Gravity Rush 2: I enjoyed the first one but this was step back in almost every area.

RE7 and White Day - I decided to give both games a second chance but I still didnt like them at all. Evil Within 2 wasnt great either but it was less irritating.

Every dollar spent on SFV

What do the American's say... I plead the 5th? haha, I've spent alot this year, even just on hardware without factoring in any games. trading in my launch PS4 in towards a PS4 Pro, grabbing the PSVR Skyrim Bundle, Pearl & Marina Amiibos, the God of War CE, plus like the 9-10 PSVR games I picked up and I'll probably grab a few games from the fall/winter launch too. Gaming is not a cheap hobby but its what I love to do, thats really all that matters.

I think this year I purchased

God of War - got for $60 on Kijiji brand new instead of like $80 something CDN
Far Cry 5 - new
Street Fighter 5 (2nd time buying this, I sold it not long after initial release) & 1 stage purchased with leftover PSN bucks - used
SF30th Anniversary -new
Blazblue CF -new
BlazBlu CTB -new
GGXrd Rev2 -new
DBFZ -used
and Spider-Man & it's DLC -new

Probably buy Red Dead 2 before the year is over. Likely on release day because I'm more excited for it than I realized.

I have done a good job in keeping my gaming expenses low.

Since my last post I've gotten:
- Hollow Knight on Switch: $10 (which BTW has to be the best $10 I've ever spent on a game)
- Pyre and Super hot on PC $8 (don't remember the individual prices but I paid around $8 for both on GOG sale).

Lots of stuff I'd love to buy though: Octopath Traveler, MH World, DQXI, Spiderman, VK4, Fist of the North Star, Yakuza Kiwami 2, etc.
By the end of the year I should have a steady income again so at least there's a ton of game I can look forward to playing then

I bought a few smaller digital titles but all I have purchased this year so far that I know for sure are:
Dragon Quest 11
Monster Hunter World (PC)

Not tooo many games this year yet other than the big ones like God of War, Spider-Man and Horizon 4.

Did shell out for a oled C8 and a 2080ti within the past month though...

So probably ~$6200 CAD in damage *sigh*
