I was playing the MCC on PC with my bros and we were playing Halo 1 (my personal favorite) then when my other friend's left that only had bought Halo 1, my best friend and i played Reach MP together (I only really bought Halo for MP, I've actually only ever completed the campaign for Halo 2). Anywho, I was really digging Reach and I kind of hate myself for never giving it a fair shot after Halo 3, because, to be perfectly honest, I hated Halo 3. Everything about 3 sucked, from the SP (with it's "anus door" filled levels and the shitty story of having to rescue Cortana, plus the gunplay and maps were crap from 3...that's when I started checking out of the Halo franchise altogether. This is my first time playing Reach, and when available, Halo 4. I've dabbled a bit with Halo 5 when I went to a friend's house and he had the Game Pass, but overall I think Halo 1 is still the best (and i love that Pistol, man).

Neogaf, tell me your most hated Halo and why.

P.S. I just remembered I beat Halo ODST on Legendary back in the day as well. ODST was much better than Halo 3 proper.
 
I couldn't tell you a single thing about 4.

All I can vaguely remember from 5 is that you fought the main bad guy like 4 times and didn't even play as Master Chief most of the game.

I voted for 4 but ask me in a year because I don't have high hopes for Infinite.

Hm, I can't really choose. Halo reach, 1-3 and odst were all amazing. Halo 4 had a good campaign (controversial, I know. But I really liked it) but the multiplayer sucked balls. Halo 5's campaign suckssss, but the multiplayer is amazing.
So, can't really vote unless it would be split up.
 
Halo 5 Multi was fine however the Campaign was terrible compared to every other game. Should've been a spin off, not a numbered game due to such minimal Master Chief.
 
Story wise, definitely 5. The game locations were pretty decent but it felt like they missed the mark massively with story and I didn't want to play as Locke.

Multiplayer was great though.
 
Every Halo was a slog for me to play through barring Halo CE and ODST.

As for multiplayer Halo CE LAN beats every other title in the series.

Havent played the 343 games so cant comment on them. Out of the bungie games though its Reach. I even liked ODST more.

Halo 4, Great Campaign and Story, but needed outside stuff. MP was the worst in the series, but okay i guess.

Halo 5, campaign that makes me sad. Amazing MP with the best post launch support any FPS on console.

I'd say 4, as it while the Story is what I love, the MP is what i remember.
 
Didnt play 5 but its gotta be a toss between Reach and 4 for me.

Edit To clarify that a little, neither of them are bad games. Infact they are both pretty fantastic. Just not as good as the rest of the series.

4 because it killed Halo, 5 is just a husk so I had zero expectations from it (and it totally delivered on that front, soulless, flat game).

Halo 5 had/has the best multiplayer of any video game ever made. A lot of folks didn't like Halo 5 because of the story but from a production/gameplay standpoint it's great. With over 5 years in the making, Halo Infinite better be one of the best video games ever made,

The campaign is lame. I absolutely hate the relationship between Cortana and MC it is such an awkward jump from how they acted in the previous games. They are in love now for some reason? The ending scene in that weird box is so forced and awkward, I still cringe almost 8 years later. Art style change sucks, graphics don't holdup, music is mediocre, sound design sucks, and the "CoD-ified" multiplayer is so fucking bad. Plus Spartan ops is some lazy forgettable shit thrown together.

5 Has an awful campaign and the multiplayer is okay. Gameplay is closer to Halo but it's still an attempt to cash in on the "advanced movement" trend. Warzone is some bullshit pay to win gamemode made just to put microtransactions in the game. Everything you unlock, even fucking emblems, are unlocked in packs. Not to mention the game had a barebones shit launch with no gamemodes and maps.

They both fucking suck but Halo 4 is higher on the Suckability index imo.

It's hard to choose between the absolute trash fires that were Halo 4 and Halo 5.

Both irredeemable garbage in their own ways.
 
Halo 5 and its not even close (well halo 4 tries to be the worst as well due to the bastardized gameplay, but it atleast had a decent story and fun mp levels.)

Halo 5 hands down. Halo 5 had a horrible story, crap character development, craptastic friendly and enemy AI, boring enemies and level design. People love to say how great the multiplayer is in Halo 5, but outside of 4v4, it's pretty bleak. The maps in Halo 5 are some of the worst in the series as well. Not a fan of Warzone either.

As an overall multiplayer suite: Halo 4 > Halo 5
 
Halo 5's MP... it's a dead fucking game and has been forever.

the idea that halo 5 has the best mp is fucking laughable and all data supports the idea... that it fucking sucks

Halo 5 is the worst. And that's because 343 is a shit cover band.

everything 343i makes is dumpster fire quality, they ruined Halo. 5 is objectively the worst one, but whatever, everything sucks under the 343 banner. It's funny because they've made something like 10 Halo games and they are all garbage. Halo used to be my favourite game franchise of all time, couldn't care less what happens to this series now, Halo Infinite will follow the trend. Rez this thread in a year and we can laugh together about it, they are only good at marketing hype. GG 343
