The gaming industry keeps reminding me what Russle T. Davies did with Doctor Who. He made it his gay little show.

Nobody wanted it, but he did it anyway. So, we all just gotta grin and bear it.

It's people who get too obsessed with CEOs.
I've noticed that nobody ever talks about Andrew House (CEO of SCE from 2011 to 2017) compared to the rest of PS executives of that time, and I'm starting to wonder if it's due to him not using the usual fan-friendly PR speak as Kaz Hirai, Shawn Layden, Jack Tretton, Shuhei Yoshida, etc. You know, when fans start to believe that these executives are their friends.
Yes.

The role of the CEOs of SIE (Kutaragi, Kaz Hirai, House, Kodera, Ryan, now Hulst+Nishino) is to make sure the business of the company (mostly revenue, profit and active userbase) grows as much as possible. Not being a PR spokesperson or your friend. They are business men, executives.

The role of the head of their first party games (Yoshida, now Hermen) is to make sure their first party games are as successful as possible in terms of sales and reviews/awards, plus keeping these studios efficient. Not being a PR spokeperson or your friend.

The role of the head of a SIE regional sales & marketing subsidiary (Tretton, Layden) is to make sure that the SIE products sell as good as possible in their region. Not being a PR spoekperson or your friend.

Being a good PR spokeperson / good salesman helps a bit, it's a tiny plus for these roles. But not their job.
