I recently reformatted my computer sooo my iPod has not been configured to this laptop.

I installed iTunes, but whenever I connect the iPod via USB all that comes up on the iPod is a ! *battery* symbol and then that flashes to the Apple logo every few seconds. My laptop won't detect the iPod and the iPod won't charge.. what do I do? Am I missing something?

try downloading and installing the latest ipod update. the same thing happened to my dads ipod and that did the trick.

Your iPOD is pretty much fucked, call tech support and pray that your warranty is still valid. I've had this happen to me on 3 different iPODS in as many months, all you can do is get it replaced.

Make sure the USB ports are set to 2.0 or high speed ports. Sometimes you have to set that shit manually. I don't think you can charge with 1.0 ports.
