What's your favorite game this gen so far (XBS and PS5 consoles only)

Seeing as how the game has only been topped by its sequel 10 years later... this isn't actually hard to imagine. The remake is an inditement on the state of the industry, it shits on everything else trying to do the same thing it did a decade ago.
Having mediocre gameplay is something to be celebrated?

My personal favourite? This game:

If you only count true next gen ( not on ps5/ series), then Astros playroom. If we can pick games that are also on last gen consoles, then cyberpunk.

Elden Ring
Demon's Souls
FFVIIR
Returnal

Hmm, as someone who is primarily a PC gamer, I didn't realize how much of my favorite games were on the PS5.

For PS5, it has to be Demon's Souls. Beautiful remake of one of my favourite Souls games.

For Xbox, I'm going with Forza Horizon 5. Amazing arcade racer that keeps getting better.

So far in order of this gen games played:

FF7 Intergrade - PS5
HFW - PS5
Demon souls. -PS5
Guardians of the galaxy - Gamepass PC

Gran Turismo 7. With more than 300h in it.

Demons Souls is another one of my favorites, just beated it 2 times for the 2 endings. Game is easier than other souls games, but the NG+ is much harder, especially in pure black world tendency, its brutal.

Your post reads like something off a box. It's a combination of an average third person shooter and stealth game.
Name a thrid person game with better a better combat+stealth fusion than Part 2.

MGS5 is the only game in the same galaxy.

Yall acting like its average but can never name anything better. lmao

I mean, how can it not be Elden Ring. Most completely enamored with a game since BotW. BotW blew me away in 2017, in a way I didn't know I could be. And when I played Elden Ring, I had that same feeling. That you're playing something truly special. And I loved that it was a "notebook game". I didn't want a guide, I didn't want to look things up, I didn't want a quest guide with map markers. It's absolutely the best way to play the game.

I play Elden Ring on PC, so side-stepping that masterpiece for this thread.

And Metroid Dread is on Switch.

Hmm, I'll have to go with Forza Horizon 5 here, most played game on the new consoles.

The Ascent is a favorite too but not quite at the top.

I'm guessing Horizon Forbidden West would be high up on the list as well but Elden Ring made me pause it after 20 hours or so.

It's just one of the only 'next gen only games'.

Everything else is cross gen, apart from Returnal, DeS (if you count it) and Flight Sim.
That's fair.

Honestly, it takes so long to make these games nowadays, if lists are narrowed to just "it can't be on the old platforms", that's a bit of a small list at this point. And since game engines are so scalable now as well, cross-gen will just keep getting longer and longer until it's no longer even a term that has any relevance. PS6 and Series XX-only games will be like maybe the final year before the PS7 and Series XXX.

How on earth they are able to do a Switch port of Hogwarts Legacy is mind-boggling to me. Announced 18 months after the game's reveal, and how on earth is that game able to run on it? Well, I guess the same reason it'll *mostly* be able to run on the OG Xbox One? Crazy times.

Metroid Dread (Switch)
Guardians of the Galaxy (PS5)
Forza Horizon 5 (XSX)
Cyberpunk 2077 (PC/Steam Deck)

Current gen only? Slim pickings but I guess Flight Simulator with a toss up between Returnal/Deathloop for second place. I'm not including Demon Souls or The Last of Us as they are really just PS3 games with a fresh coat of paint (to be fair it is really pretty paint).

Next gen only?

Toss up between Returnal and Rift Apart.

Cross gen? Alot, but Forbidden West is a front runner for fav cross gen and just fav 2022 game overall.
