What's your PC controller of choice?

Except I have a left-handed one, with the directional buttons on the other side.

DS3 over Bluetooth, emulating a 360 controller via MotioninJoy. Not quite as plug-n-play as just using a 360 controller (have to manually enable 360 emulation via the software), but works perfectly once it's up and running.

I also do this and love it. The 360 Dpad/shoddy feeling buttons makes me want to throw the controller into another realm of existence. I also have USB converters for N64/PS1+2/Saturn and USB modded Genesis and SNES controllers.

That HORI Xbox controller on page 1 looked nice though.

I honestly go back and forth interchangeably between the PS3 controller with Motioninoy and Xbox 360 Controller for Windows.

My 360 for Windows controller has a fucked up dead-zone, though, so I tend to use the PS3 one more.

Logitech F710.

Wireless and with rumble feature. Nice rubber padding on the back for those sweaty moments, robust springs in the triggers. D-pad can be a little bit iffy at times, but other than that it's a great gamepad.

How is compatibility with this?

360 controller, no question about it. I've got four of them along with four DS3s so I could switch between them when I see fit, but I almost exclusively use the 360 pad. It's by far more ergonomic, has better stick placement and great triggers. By far thee most important thing though is that it has near universal native support, its plug and play, and for BPM its nice that button prompts match the buttons on the controller. Especially when guests are over and we'd playing FIFA or the like.

I have used both DS3 with MotionInJoy and a wired 360 controller. I prefer the 360 controller mainly because of the compatibility. The game interface changes instantly when you plug it in and you don't run into wierd bugs like with MotionInJoy.

I haven't really had any issues with MiJ. Yes, you have to manually enable 360 controller emulation, it doesn't happen automatically when you connect the controller, but that's just a minor inconvenience. Once it's enabled it's recognized as a 360 controller without issue for me. Have played loads of games with it, never had any problems.

I just found this:
http://betterds3.ciebiera.net/

It replaces the entire MotionInJoy graphical frontend (which is what does all the online stuff). Looks really solid!

Yeah, that's what I use. The "stock" MiJ GUI is pretty bad.

I use a Dualshock 2 with a PS2-to-360 converter. The PC recognizes it as a 360 pad and maps the buttons and sticks automatically on most games.

I never liked the L2/R2 on the DS3 as much, and I hate how Spotty MotioninJoy is. And I just plain don't like the 360 pad (I'm big on D-pads).

Excellent. All recent games work perfectly, just seeing a 360 controller. 95% of older games that work with a 360 controller also work fine. For those that don't -- like Assassin's Creed -- you can drop a file from this site into the game folder and it'll work.

For older games that don't have 360 pad support, it can switch to DirectInput, and it comes with a remapping program for games with no pad support at all.

Wireless 360 controller is basically a prerequisite for comfy couch PC gaming, but PS3 controller with MotionInJoy works quite well over bluetooth or USB for PS2 emulation and FFXI(V).

F510 is the best of both worlds. Has rumble (unlike F310) but uses wires so no signal loss (unlike F710) and is recognized as a 360 controller so it's supported by any game that supports that. Plus you gain additional support by switching between Xinput and Dinput.

Since joining GAF, every time this thread comes up, I haven't seen a better option.

It's got the odd weird bug, though, like with Saints Row The Third - stick axes are reversed.

I also really, really hate its triggers.

I do like the switch for older games, though.

All told I regret buying it, I only picked one up as the wired 360 controllers are next to impossible to find up here and it was quite cheap. I needed something to use with my laptop on the go and didn't feel like hauling my 360 dongle around.

Logitech F710

Can't be doing with the 360 D-pad for retro games. Or even current games, in many cases. Other than that, I love the form factor and feel of the 360, especially for driving games.

360 controller for basically everything on PC. I'm a console gamer at heart. I can't get used to KB/m controls unless I absolutely have to use them.

DS3 and a USB Saturn controller gets used from time to time.

Wow 3 pages and no one has mentioned that Motionjoy is no longer needed.

I use a ds3 with this http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-XInp...-USB-Dual-DS2-Controller?pid=281823#pid281823

Its freaking amazing, no need to open frontends or anything, once paired during install, all you do is press the ps button and it automatically connects to your PC emulating a 360 control so it works in all games right away.

Works with usb and/or bluetooth.

And who would use an actual 360 controller on a PC, the pad is useless for 2d games.

Just installed this, and yeah, it's definitely a nicer solution than MiJ. No trashy software, just a service that runs in the background, and no need to manually enable it after every reboot. Not much in terms of customization though, but I rarely need that anyway.

My BT adapter wasn't supported at first, so I posted my hardware ID in the thread. 20 minutes later the dev had added it and uploaded an update, and now I can connect via BT without issue. That's some pretty great support!

360 wired controller for third person games and platformers, though I would use Dualshock 3 if there actually were official drivers for it. 360 d-pad is the most horrible thing ever, it's like a big and short analog stick.

360 controller is the best, there is a reason it is the de facto standard.

Add a Saturn USB controller to your arsenal if you have dpad issues with stuff like shooters, fighters, and 2d platformers.

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this. Works GREAT. Had no idea of its existence before.

Was previously using a wired 360 controller. The DS3 is preferable since I game on a laptop so the 360's bulky cable was always in the way. (And the dpad would tend to register the wrong inputs.) Also, Motioninjoy wouldn't work with my laptop's onboard bluetooth but this wrapper supports it.

PS3 controller using custom motion joy mapped using x360 mode.

<-- is the way to go. too bad motion joy takes up my entire usb bluetooth adpater. otherwise perfect.
