No matter what I bet the staff of Ninja Theory is already getting tanned spending all day on the roof.

We will try. On a second playthrough.

Understand Captain America GIF

81 is critically acclaimed?
It is.
Take away the paid 10's it received and it be lucky to have a 70 average.
That's not even an argument.
Santa monica change their leadership each time they ship a game. Even Nintendo have a story of finding different directors when needed. I don't fear for them in that regard, save for the fact that Microsoft may ask for someone able to follow budgets more than someone that will be in for the art.
But that's not been the case for NT. Antoniades was there back when Heavenly Sword was being made, so it's like Sam Lake leaving Remedy.

Moving them to a Call of Duty support studio would be proof that Activision is in charge now
I don't think a game like COD needs their tech. I could see projects like Gears of War 6 or Fable getting more use out of their tech..but yea they would definitely be "restructured" into a support role instead of complete dissolution.

Ninja Theory's Motion Capture studio is the biggest reason why they won't get shut down.
thats what Jez corden said. and we all know he is dumb.
It is no doubt amazing tech that all of Microsoft's studios have access too. I do think their days of being a "traditional" game developer may be over, though

edit- Crazy that Microsoft paid 117mil to acquire them, that is nuts
yep, the studio (building) can be used for mo-cap. You don't need Ninja Theory for that tho. They can be very well relegated to support studio/mo-cap technicians.

It isn't.

Right no argument as we know those scores are fake.

Anyway since it failed I say by 2025 they will either tear the team apart, sell them or shut them down altogether.

After the recent 4 studios that were cut by MS, most notably Tanga and Arkane Austin, I don't know what makes you think Ninja Theory isn't next on the chopping block. Their latest 2 games bombed hard. Bleeding Edge and Hellblade 2.

Or do you prefer to bury your head in the sand and not face reality?

Forza Motorsport bombed. Sure haven't seen any of you with threads taking bets on closing down Turn 10.

Xbox is sad and pathetic.

Not as sad and pathetic as cheering on studio closures

Excuse me but is that how you measure failure? I'd suggest that it's score is irrelevant in determining that. I'd also say that it's impossible to say either way not even a week after launch, but what do I know?

Failure is when you have shitty numbers on steam chart and far below on gamepass.

We are now following the same narrative as hifi rush.

we are waiting for Aaron´s greenbear tweet stating how HB2 is a breakout success and MS is very happy with it.

I'd suggest reading my post again.

After the heat they took for closing down the 4 studios recently, I don't think MS will close any more studios down for some time. My gut says Ninja Theory are safe for at least another game release.

IF it were to happen, it wouldn't be anytime soon. Even Redfall was out for a full year before the Arkane Austin closure was announced.

Contrary to popular belief, I actually enjoyed the DMC game(except Dante's look). I'm playing the first Hellblade game rn and I really like it; I'll play the second one once I finish it. I think shutting them down would be wrong. Since Microsoft doesn't have amazing games, they have to heavily promote games from companies that make niche games like these. If the second game was released with as little hype as the first one and had a lower budget, there wouldn't be so much backlash.

If anything should be closed, it should be Microsoft's gaming division.

After reading Ninja Theory wikipedia page, it is true that Antoniades seems to be a key part of their history. But he already left so hopefully the studio will find someone to take his place.

I put 2025.

Once the dust settles and they see the true lack of income this game produced, the cost to make it, and then get to see the early version of this next game, they'll shut it down.

Once they realize the next title is also another no return on investment half cooked scheme they'll have no choice.

The only two way this studio survives is :

-They get told to carry on a legacy franchise to reboot or carry it on.

-Their next title is a GaaS to make up for the money lit on fire here.

I'd be shocked if they get to do another one of these for 6 years…

This is a gaming forum where we discuss everything from games to sales and studio closer. Feel free to ignore the thread if you don't like it.

It's nothing personal.
This is a gaming forum and generally we aren't supposed to be gleeful about studio closures.
Anyway I don't think they will be closed but their pitch for a game about a Finnish carpenter dealing with depression will get rejected and they will be told they are making a game about some kind of kick ass space marine.
