The next release of Firefox will be the 1.0 Preview Release, which is internally being called 0.10. The release notes for that upcoming release are now up
here. They talk about the new features in there, and some of them are very cool. The Live Bookmarks and the Find As You Type toolbar are really cool and I think people will really appreciate the password manager.
Obviously, that roadmap needs to be updated (since it says 1.0 PR was targeted for two days ago), and the new date for 1.0 PR is September 6th. Today's builds were the first to be refered to as 1.0 PR (Not Final), which was primarily done to get the extention authors to update their extentions for this upcoming release. Previously the builds were being called 0.9.1+.
As far as 1.0 itself, officially the date is still October 11th. However, I would not be surprised if that date slips back into November or perhaps December. I guess, originally they wanted to beat XP SP2 out, but now that bird has flown. More importantly, a lot of people felt that 0.9 was released with too many bugs (which related to features added between 0.8 and 0.9), and was not as high quality of a release as 0.8 (I disagree) but in any event, the developers are being very, very careful about what goes out as Firefox 1.0. This is the single most important thing they've ever released so they may take some extra time.
