I think he's just supposed to be a super japanese fanboy/otaku or whatever and they took him out of the non-japanese versions of the game since they probably felt he wouldn't really translate.Nemesis556 said:What's the deal with this anyway? I hope the unlocking system is the same as it was in MvC2. Was so disappointed that everything was left unlocked at the start in the XBLA port.
I have to agree with this. Even if they completely redid the models (because honestly it's hard as hell to tell from the low quality video), it's possible since they look similar that they're using the TvC engine as a base and redid tons of stuff instead of making a completely new engine from scratch. And we are talking about a company who reused sprites all the time in spinoffs, is it that far-fetched to think they'd do it again (with models) but retouch them for HD? I agree this isn't anything negative, because as far as I'm concerned: new engine or retouched engine, the game looks effing good.McBradders said:How is it negative? You have a team that finished one game, punched out a reasonably substantial update for the West and are gonna dump out a way more ambitious game in terms of scale in less than a year?
It's simple common sense that re-purposing of assets could be happening. I'm not saying they have or will, but financially and considering the time they have to finish this, it's reasonable to consider that assets will be re-purposed and re-worked for the HD platforms.
I don't expect you to consider any of this as being reasonable, however, clearly you have an agenda of being as deliberately obtuse as possible while at the same time being a complete and utter twit about it. Until you've decided to pull your head out of your seemingly ample behind I bid you a good day, sir. It's a celebration, bitches, lets treat it like one.

But if they are using the TvC engine as a base, stupid graphics arguments aside, makes you wonder if this game will play similarly to the old Marvel games or more like TvC, or some weird hybrid of both.;
ugh, none of this please Capcom. just put in some silly 1p conquest mode with trinkets or some shit and let people who want to play the actual game do so without some bullshit time wasting unlocks.omg rite said:Whether this looks like SF4 or CvT, it will look great.

Agreed. With the MT Framework engine being ported to the Wii a while ago and with Tatsunoko vs Capcom already being on the Wii, I think there's a fair shot at MAHVEL showing up on all three home consoles, maybe PC too.Darkman M said:No consoles are confirmed as far as i know, but it wouldn't surprise me to see this on PS3/WII/360.

jibblypop said:The only vs game I ever really loved was Capcom vs SNK. Loved that one so much. The Marvel ones and the Tatsunoko one are just weird to me. I buy every single one though since even a less appealing (to me) Capcom fighting game is still better than most other games on the market. So that means I'll be picking this up too so hopefully I will be able to crack the code and "get it" this time around!

I hope you're not just trolling because I agree. Maybe it's just a side-effect of it being prerendered cg, but all of the Marvel characters, particularly Hulk looked pretty... I dunno... uninteresting (?). The design of the characters remind me of one of the Marvel UA commercials. Lacking any personality. Just a cg representation of a comic character with few interesting stylistic embellishments.Augemitbutter said:trailer looks very shitty, hope they won't screw up with this.

I'm not judging the quality of the game based on the trailer, just saying the trailer has me a bit scared as to the direction they may go.
