Where Ya Curly Mustaches At?! Marvel vs Capcom 3 Hype Thread of Scoops!

What's the deal with this anyway? I've never really been in the loop as to who this is and what the whole point was of including him in only one version of the game?
I think he's just supposed to be a super japanese fanboy/otaku or whatever and they took him out of the non-japanese versions of the game since they probably felt he wouldn't really translate.

Holy shit this is awesome!!

Now to get my nerd on I need to ask : What are the chances they include some récent Marvel characters up in this bitch? Would love to get to play with Nova/Daken/Iron Patriot/Deadpool/Bucky-CapAm.

SFIV apologists are scary, wtf is going on? Ryu isn't as good as Ryu from SFIV? Can Ryu from SFIV fight against Venom, I think not!

I hope it is madness, and fun. If it delivers that, it has succeeded. I always thought the animation in MvC2 was very nice though, and see no reason for this game to suffer, unless they announce the release date is next month or something.

Wonder if DLC will be just extra costumes, or unlocking roster packages? Or hopefully missing entirely!

Day one mofos!!!

I guess its going to look like CvT which is awesome !!
Diggin' Chris!

Whether this looks like SF4 or CvT, it will look great.

I hope the unlocking system is the same as it was in MvC2. Was so disappointed that everything was left unlocked at the start in the XBLA port.

you mean leaving your dreamcast on in training mode while you slept and randomly buying things?

How is it negative? You have a team that finished one game, punched out a reasonably substantial update for the West and are gonna dump out a way more ambitious game in terms of scale in less than a year?

It's simple common sense that re-purposing of assets could be happening. I'm not saying they have or will, but financially and considering the time they have to finish this, it's reasonable to consider that assets will be re-purposed and re-worked for the HD platforms.

I don't expect you to consider any of this as being reasonable, however, clearly you have an agenda of being as deliberately obtuse as possible while at the same time being a complete and utter twit about it. Until you've decided to pull your head out of your seemingly ample behind I bid you a good day, sir. It's a celebration, bitches, lets treat it like one.
I have to agree with this. Even if they completely redid the models (because honestly it's hard as hell to tell from the low quality video), it's possible since they look similar that they're using the TvC engine as a base and redid tons of stuff instead of making a completely new engine from scratch. And we are talking about a company who reused sprites all the time in spinoffs, is it that far-fetched to think they'd do it again (with models) but retouch them for HD? I agree this isn't anything negative, because as far as I'm concerned: new engine or retouched engine, the game looks effing good.

But if they are using the TvC engine as a base, stupid graphics arguments aside, makes you wonder if this game will play similarly to the old Marvel games or more like TvC, or some weird hybrid of both. o_O;

so i saw the trailer
ryu vs wolverine, nice (scott who? lol)
iron man! morrigan! (omg, and not a 15 year old sprite!)
HULK!!! SMASH!!!
HOLY FUCKING SHIT, CHRIS FUCKING REDFIELD!!!!

hope he has cameo assists, like Captain Commando!

where do i buy it?

I swear if Gambit is not in this game.....!

Awesome News BTW! After Cap Vs Tat I realized how much I had missed these Capcom Crossovers

Edit: No real reason this can't be done on Wii. I'd imagine it would look/play more or less like Cap Vs Tat. I'm not sure how easily MT Framework can (if at all) be ported to Wii.

Here's another possibility, not completely outlandish: for TvC they made all kinds of ultra high-res models for the fighters and toned down the poly-count untill they hit a number that was workable for the Wii. For MvC3, they can use those ultra high-res-models again and tone down the poly-count untill it hits a satisfactory level for the PS360.

Thought I was going to have to wait until 8 or 9, but I logged in and this thread title was on the main page before you see the full list of threads. Woo hoooo!

*begins to sift through the last few pages to find the confirmation post*

ugh, none of this please Capcom. just put in some silly 1p conquest mode with trinkets or some shit and let people who want to play the actual game do so without some bullshit time wasting unlocks.

No consoles are confirmed as far as i know, but it wouldn't surprise me to see this on PS3/WII/360.
Agreed. With the MT Framework engine being ported to the Wii a while ago and with Tatsunoko vs Capcom already being on the Wii, I think there's a fair shot at MAHVEL showing up on all three home consoles, maybe PC too.

We already know they're not using the TvC engine as a base - the trailer said it's using MT Framework, and TvC didn't.

I don't see why it's so unbelievable to people that Capcom haven't taken the TvC models, HD'd them up with more detail in the mesh but left the skeleton structure intact so all the animations still work, and simply made more new characters. That's the sensible option, from a time and money perspective. Redoing all the Capcom characters from scratch when they've just done them for another very, very, very similar game would be mental, especially considering the likely cast roster.

My whole life used to revolve around Japan Time.

Good thread. Can you believe that was 2007? Time fucking flies.

Not sure if its been mentioned already, but didn't Capcom announce a while back that the MT Framework is scalable to Wii? Maybe this game is using the MT Framework so the game can be released on all 3 home consoles? HD versions for PS3/360, 480p version for Wii?

EDIT: beaten

I'm not even sure what you just said. What do you mean the "actual game"? You had to play the actual game to unlock stuff in MvC2.

Are you saying everything should be unlocked from the beginning? That's lame as shit.

The only vs game I ever really loved was Capcom vs SNK. Loved that one so much. The Marvel ones and the Tatsunoko one are just weird to me. I buy every single one though since even a less appealing (to me) Capcom fighting game is still better than most other games on the market. So that means I'll be picking this up too so hopefully I will be able to crack the code and "get it" this time around!

He is saying that he wants all the characters to be unlocked straight away. That way he can play the full game for fun. He doesn't need unlockables to entice him to play a game he already likes.

Yeah I don't like Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Yes, I own it, but I couldn't fall in love with it... :(

This one has me hyped again!!! :|

Dear E.A,

Thank you for no longer owning the rights to Marvel fighting games or whatever that retarded deal was. It was a horrible decade but now we can put that all behind us.

Love, THE WORLD.

Can anyone get me some screen grabs of MVC3? China doesn't like youtube. Or pictures actually, so they may not even load for me, but hey, worth a shot.

Psh, that's lame. It's fun and rewarding to unlock characters in fighters. Thankfully it's pretty much a given that it won't all be unlocked from the start.

I just realized something. TvC = Eighting, SF4 = Dimps. External developers. With MT Framework being used for MvC3, doesn't that pretty much confirm that it is developed internally within Capcom Japan?

trailer looks very shitty, hope they won't screw up with this.
I hope you're not just trolling because I agree. Maybe it's just a side-effect of it being prerendered cg, but all of the Marvel characters, particularly Hulk looked pretty... I dunno... uninteresting (?). The design of the characters remind me of one of the Marvel UA commercials. Lacking any personality. Just a cg representation of a comic character with few interesting stylistic embellishments.

I'm not judging the quality of the game based on the trailer, just saying the trailer has me a bit scared as to the direction they may go.

He's still in the game's data in the Arcade, PSX and Saturn in the US versions. All of his shit was fully translated and everything. But he was based of a Japanese comic so I don't see any hope of him returning.

2.5 hours till the embargo ends.

Can't wait.

The trailer for those who haven't seen it yet...

I had completely forgotten about it.

Has Capcom actually announced some project for the Wii with that engine before? I've bought a PS3 though, so I probably won't buy a Wii version, even if there's one, unless they pull a Namco and there's some exclusivity for the different versions.

Just saw the teaser! It looks alright, but was pumped to see Chris in there. It'll be good in my books if the gameplay was just like the animation of Ryu at the end..

pretty much feeling the same vibe, im hoping this isnt to much an indication of the over all art style of the game
