Wow, that looks sooooo bad...

Because I don't play in tourneys and rage quit online if someone beats me because winning is the most important thing ever. 6 characters? I don't know if I've used Psylock or Magneto or Sentinel more than 3 or 4 times when not picking random. I have a shitload of fun playing as SonSon or Venom or even Servbot or Dan.
I am not saying everyone should feel the same way, but how is it so hard to understand the people who want a ton of character's views on it? I couldn't care less about balance, you obviously do.

I personally don't care about balance the same way (and I love playing as Dan and Servbot too). I just think it's ridiculous to expect that many characters when most of MvC2's cast were just lazily C+P'd from other games

Because people are acting disappointed about something as if their expectations were realistic.

They were not.

Everyone wants a ton of characters. Very few people in this thread are completely satisfied with 30 characters... there's always room for more people, more favorites, more obscurities, but those will be added with time.

Expecting over 50 characters for what is essentially a rebirth of a series is completely ridiculous. Frankly, I was expecting something around the size of the original MvC roster. I'm overjoyed with 30.

What looks so bad about it? Looks like Wolverine.
His tree-trunk thighs, giganto-arms, rediculous calves (not that huge or defined calves is a bad thing, look at Spidey), massive back. The entire anatomy looks :lol.
Why are his shoulders bigger than his head?

Are they getting Epic to do char designs or something?

Its hard to understand way they expecting anywhere near a MvC2 roster number.

If they had time and money, they could put out a game with 60 characters that are all new designs. They aren't doing that though. We are getting a game we want next year as opposed to three years from now. It's not like it couldn't be done though, that creating 60 characters from scratch is some impossible feat.
Do I wish they would? Yes, but I am looking forward to this and I will still be buying MvC3 on day one, and then buying however many DLC characters that are available on release day as soon as I get home with the game. And then buying the Super Hyper Marvel vs Capcom 3 Turbo that comes out with all the dlc and 5 new characters in 2012, and maybe the dlc for that game too.

Yeah it's 30+. I would expect around 36 characters (18 on each side).

34 fan-favorites, 17 on each side, plus two MvC3-original characters to serve as main villains would be my guess.

It's going to be the Steve Rogers Captain America. This game comes out next year, the Captain America movie comes out next year, and you can bet your ass Steve will reclaim the mantel in the comics next year to tie in with the movie.

Which actually kind of sucks because Bucky as Cap has made the character more interesting than he has been in decades.

SF4 tracks were super forgettable, but I really liked Cvs2's, MvC2's, and Chaos Legion's music, honest to god.

Name one fighting game that introduced 50 characters in the first iteration, which essentially this is.

It's not logistically feasible unless they pushed the game back even further. I wish people would stop saying it was.

Forget actually rendering a model. Have you thought about moveset (basic normal ones)? Hypers? Keeping each character fresh and unique? We haven't seen an entire cast of shotos yet.

Its like he's never seen a comic book superhero before. Most of them have ridiculous anatomy (depending on artist, but most go with the overblown physique).
Overblown looks better in a fighting game

For people who expecting 50-60 characters

The reason MvC2 had around 50-60 characters was because Capcom re-used sprites from all their other CPS2 games such as Street Fighter Alpha series, X-Men VS SF, Marvel Super Heroes VS SF and MvC. Why do you think MvC2 had so many Street Fighter characters in the Capcom side. Anyways on this game they are starting from scratch. Also I am not a fan of gigantic roster (or really small roster), 40 characters is the sweet spot.

Yeah that's exactly what I'm thinking. I hope (hate me all you want!) that they don't spend more time on Ken/Ryu clones like Akuma/Dan/Gouken especially when the roster is pretty tight and requires all major capcom characters, not just Street Fighter.

I'm pretty sure Capcom created only 5 unique characters for Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (6 if you include the boss).

Ruby Heart
Sonson
Jill Valentine
Amingo
Marrow

In the defense of people requesting 50/60 characters, Capcom characters are easy to do since they just need to port in models from SF4 and other games and they don't need to recreate moveslist since they already know what it's going to be.

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

You got a heartachheeeeeeeee

You realize Wolvy's 5"3 and 195 lbs without adamantium, and it's pure muscle. He should look like a brick wall.

It really seems like they're tossing the whole anime-bullshit out the window with the art style of MVC3. Minus the horrendous animated cut scenes in SF4/SSF4, it felt like they're taking the Street Fighter IV franchise in a more western art style compared to the rest of the series/other 2d fighters. Just an opinion nontheless...

I'm totally down for a more western/eastern art approach to MVC3, which is what Ikeno (3rd Strike and SF4's illustrator/art director) is really good at. Sick and tired of anime bullshit in fighting games...who's with me!

I think its bonus that starting from scratch will allow for a more balanced roster, as far as series go. MvC2 had a ton of X-Men, SF and DS characters just cause those were the easiest to use.

Agreed. I want diversity. Even a few no name suprises on each side would be fun.
