Where Ya Curly Mustaches At?! Marvel vs Capcom 3 Hype Thread of Scoops!

Yeah that's exactly what I'm thinking. I hope (hate me all you want!) that they don't spend more time on Ken/Ryu clones like Akuma/Dan/Gouken especially when the roster is pretty tight and requires all major capcom characters, not just Street Fighter.

I don't get why Capcom does not use "Complete Ryu" for the VS series, in MvC you had 3 characters in 1, and the command to change into Ken or Akuma was not hard anyway.

In the defense of people requesting 50/60 characters, Capcom characters are easy to do since they just need to port in models from SF4 and other games and they don't need to recreate moveslist since they already know what it's going to be.

What? No and how does knowing what moves they are gonna have help with the actual time consuming stuff like animation and balancing?

from street fighter i would honestly want 5 charecters

ryu
chun
cammy
bison
zangief

sub zangief or bison out for other sf charecters like hugo or viper or something random

Yeah I was thinking that too. Alternate version of characters to increase the range of characters is a good way of saying "30+ characters including alternate forms". I would LOVE to play as Marvel Zombies!!

Yeah, true. Not a good defense, I guess! :P

From the interview, it's stated that balancing the game is one of their highest priorities.

Screw Zangief! Give all his moves to Haggar and put him in instead! :D :lol

and!

Don't forget about squirrel girl

Squirrel Girl's true power cannot be captured in a fighting game. Tis too immense.

I am hopeful it gets closer to 40 characters AT LEAST. Around 30 doesn't sound like enough. 5 more on each side can do a lot of good.

In any case, HYPE!

is anyone thinking the charecters in the shadows and the announced ones are the charecter select screen untill you unlock the others like mvc 2

I kinda doubt there would be any unlockable characters.

Because space limitation isn't such a problem anymore? You're effectively making 3 different characters, so you might as well give them different faces and voice clips.

By the way, Sound director/designer once again is Masayuki Endou, noted for:

# Street Fighter IV
# Onimusha 3
# Capcom Fighting Jam
# Chaos Legion
# Capcom vs SNK 2
# Marvel vs. Capcom 2

In terms of music, this = in GREAT HANDS! :D

SHIT YEAH !!

Although tbh I thought SF4 soundtrack was rather meh (and I liked Indestructible) but hopefully they bring the Jazz in full force for this one.

and Screw you all who don't want Akuma :(

It really seems like they're tossing the whole anime-bullshit out the window with the art style of MVC3. Minus the horrendous animated cut scenes in SF4/SSF4, it felt like they're taking the Street Fighter IV franchise in a more western art style compared to the rest of the series/other 2d fighters. Just an opinion nontheless...

I'm totally down for a more western/eastern art approach to MVC3, which is what Ikeno (3rd Strike and SF4's illustrator/art director) is really good at. Sick and tired of anime bullshit in fighting games...who's with me!

With you 100%. One of the main reasons I couldn't get into Blazblue. Loving the art direction so far.

I like the way you think. I was saying this exact same thing for TvC two years ago too! :D

I have no problem, provided it's done tastefully.

I mean, it goes without saying that MAHVEL definitely caters more to Western interests than Japanese. So marketing with that much in mind is fine.

Hell, maybe it might entail that more "Western-oriented" picks may be in the mix in this time. The likes of Jon Talbain and Megaman X missed the boat the last time, likely because Japan doesn't value them as much as some other respective picks. But they ARE more popular in the West, though, so this could be something benefits us...

Throughout the day I slowly got more and more hyped by this.

I hope they get good voice actors for this. I liked all the ones in the older games.

LOL!!! Everyone knows Liefeld can't draw. How did that no-talent get so far in the industry I'll never know.

Cause most superhero comic readers have no taste. Which is why I tend to avoid superhero comics despite many of my favorites being in that genre.

As far as I'm concerned, Talbain is as much a Darkstalkers icon in the west as Morrigan is, maybe even more. Any time I saw any casual or semi-casual player play a darkstalkers game, they ALWAYS seem to be drawn to him, arcade or home. I've seen it at both.

Its hard to understand way they expecting anywhere near a MvC2 roster number.
Because sequels are bigger :P

I will cry if Jill/Megaman/Servbot/Roll/Hayato/Marrow/Psylocke is not there. :(

That's fine in Street Fighter, but Ken and Akuma are "wasted" slots in a VS game, IMO. Imagine that they were in TvC instead of VJ and Zero . :S

I think our best bet is to just hope we get closer to 34-36 than just 30 characters, and then pray that Marvel and Capcom are serious about continuing to support the series and we get an upgrade/sequel that brings us closer to MvC2's roster. It just won't feel right if SSF4 has more characters than MvC3.

Though I can easily see Capcom pulling a "Super Street Fighter 4" and releasing an updated MvC3 ~1 year later with ~14-16 new characters.

Seriously.

Look up her stats at marvel.com. She is stronger than gods, easily.

what's up with that picture. I wouldn't able to understand what's going on in that pix.

Chris Brown making that face when looking at a nice ass.

So whenever you see a nice ass you have to respond with "dat ass" or the image.

And if you see a picture of someone making that face you have to shop sunglasses on them.

I'm gonna guess Rufus and Hakan makes it in. They seem like goofy enough for this game.

Pretty much. :lol

Also this is confirmed now? Hopefully there is less Street Fighter and X-men filling the rosters up unlike the last outing. :lol

You aren't magically saving slots by not placing them in the selection screen.

Getting in as alternate modes for Ryu is almost the same as getting in as their own characters, from a development standpoint. They'd still need to be tested, animated and balanced. You're only saving space and a bit of time due to the lack of 2 extra character models. If most of the work is done, not making them their own characters is silly, unless there are space issues.

Nah it think its gonna be like TvC again with Ryu for I, Chun for II and someone like an Alex or Ibuki for III and maybe someone for 4 too. Or possibly just Ryu and Chun.

Very much agreed. Hell, I'm just as guilty, seeing as Talbain is my main in Savior. :lol

But that, in a nutshell, is what I'm talking about. If Japan's fanbase is the "second-tier" this time around, and we're the main focus, then go for broke with marketing to our desires. Part of the reason I think that MSH and COTA were so "conservative" was not only due to their obvious "Saturday AM" connection, but because those characters represented were the ones that had the most global recognition and appeal.

This time? EFF DAT. Japan may or may not know about the glory that is SQUIRREL GIRL. They can learn. :lol
