I'm surprised at myself for how excited I am to play as Ghost Rider. Never gave that super hero a second thought, apart from having an action figure as a kid...:lol
 
I think you may have to save Phoenix Wright for the next Vs. game -- I realize that the entire nature of this game is silly, but ... with Marvel wanting there to be a "deep story" for the game, I don't think Phoenix Wright will fit in with the type of characters they're picking ... I think we'll see only fighters/combat characters in this one.

Frank West ... well, he's covered wars. :lol It's easier to fit him in as a photojournalist (just waiting for the dialogue between him and Spider) ... but, Phoenix? I dunno, maybe I'm wrong ... but I think he might have been vetoed.

After seeing what they did with Alex in TvC, I wouldn't mind seeing Alex again. But beyond that, forget it.

Just the idea of a deep story in a fighting game makes me physically wince...especially when it has the potential to limit the number and type of characters in the game. Not saying that will be the case here, but the potential exists.
 
Am I the only one who likes Demitri here?

I was much younger when I started playing DS, so I just chose him because he seemed the most standard character in the game, but I liked his energy effect too. Later, he also got one of the most original supers in DS3, although it was useless gameplay-wise. And he's also a villain, how rare is a villain protagonist?

Although, I guess his lack of popularity is the reason Capcom often ignores him in spite of his status as one of the main characters...

If Frank can fit in story-wise, Phoenix easily could too. Someone hires him for a case -> Phoenix goes to investigate -> events happen and he can't run away.

The real problem might be a fitting moveset for him that doesn't seem too random and actually references his games.

Edit: Hm... I've just thought about using the magatama to justify Phoenix hitting other people with words. If it can hurt Phoenix, hurting other people isn't such a leap. If I can have a random idea in a few seconds, I guess Capcom might be able to think about something too.

I'm actually wanting alot more Capcom characters in this game. But I know it'll probably be 50/50.

And I swear if almost all Marvel chars are top tier again. I WILL RAGE.

Agreed, I love the work Shinkiro's done for the versus series. I hope he's doing the actual character art for MvC3.

I like Demitri as well, but since Morrigan overshadows him and pulling two shotos from Darkstalkers would be pushing it, he'll probably never make the cut. Not that I'd have a problem with it if he did.

I would have rather seen Demitri in MVC3, but there's no beating out Morrigan's popularity for that spot.

They tried to get him in TvsC, but - and I shit you not - they couldn't balance the game around his Objection bubble due to its different sizes when localized so he was cut:

they said if they added him to TvC, they wouldn't know to to localize the japanese text for "objection" etc for the US release since they had to rework the text or some such nonsense.

That's a poor excuse. Use the damn Kanji. Give him an ''hold it'' counter and a ''take that'' special skill. They could always give him a move that change his stance/appearance to his hobo alter ego and make him throw poker cards and shit. Seriously Capcom.

The same thing occurred with SF4 before the console release.Dudley won by a WIDE margin but didn't appear until Super.So I imagine if MvC3 is successful enough there will definitely be a follow up to bring whatever characters that win this poll but may still get left out in the end.

Street Fighter IV was a lot further along in development than MvC3 is now though, so this still could make an impact. (Providing if it is indeed for the game.) Though I wouldn't be surprised if we got an MvC3 2.0.

I more concerned that the list is missing characters though.

Not necessarily. Some of the best stories I've experienced in a game had the craziest casts as well. It wouldnt matter. I think bigger problems will be the genre of game its in and cast size.

Like Dante, Niitsuma seemed to say Phoenix would be possible for a sequel, suggesting him and Ingrid to show up as DLC for TvC. He also recently said that because the game designers didn't know how his legs would move he was going to move with some kind of movable podium with wheels. I hope so.

So make up leg movement for him? I mean cmon that such a shitty excuse. Use a little Smash logic here. Captain Falcon was never seen doing anything but racing and they made a rad moveset for him. I just care if they capture the spirit of the character, not worrying about making every move based exactly on something in canon.
 
Dark Phoenix Wright for final boss :D


I wouldn't mind Taskmaster as a sub-boss who just constantly shifts between other characters moves.

As for DLC Characters, the advantage of being polygonal is that they can just combine moves from other characters.

Bucky Barnes Captain America could just use most of Cap's moves and add in some of Chris Redfield's inevitable gun moves.

Blade could probably use a fair amount of Dante's since he usually fights with a sword and guns.
