On further analysis (lol) That character on the far right side of Marvel has:

-A cape (no baggy pants like I thought earlier, thats just the cape outline)
-Shoulder pads with a long spike on each
-Looking at his thumb, you cans see a long nail sticking out, so he probably has claws (like Sabretooth .. but its not him of course, he doesnt share the other two items)

I really have no clue. Its a pretty standard villain pose though
If that silhouette corresponds to the silhouettes in the Shinkiro artwork as the others do, than it's most likely the character most assume to be Dormammu.

It doesnt, specially since, you know, theres no head on fire to be seen there, lol

Also, he doesnt have a cape, which that silhouette does have. Must be somebody else. MC Hammer is my guess at this point :lol

EDIT: Actually, we need an Iron Man villain! Maybe THE MANDARIN?

dudes im so stoked for this game i bought tatsunoko vs. capcom on wii, which is very good. not crazy about the 3 button setup but its ok. i hope they keep the 4 attack button setup or go back to 6 buttons for marvel vs. capcom 3.

on a side note, TvsC has the worst intro ive ever seen. mainly the song.... i was embarrassed watching/listening to the intro :lol

Some variations of Dormammu's costume do have a cape. As for his fire, I don't know. I'm not that familiar with the character so I'm not sure if he can disguise the flames or not.

It would be strange to have only one silhouette that differed between the two pictures, but who knows?

4 buttons please... six buttons makes absolutely no sense on modern controllers....

6 buttons is problematic for modern controllers and that's something that needs to be considered. But MvC2 had 4 attack buttons with the magic series and 2 assist buttons. If they're gonna stick with the 3-on-3 tag system, then It'll probably be the same MvC2 config we all know and love.

It's Dormammu. Marvel vs Capcom 3 is supposed to feature new and classic costumes for some characters.

Based on the pics provided, I'd be infinitely more interested in playing as Dormammu. But I guess a big part of how fun they'd be to play is what kind of attacks they have. You just know Ghost Rider would have wicked moveset :lol

And the silhouette shoes look more like 'Mammu's.

This is what I'm thinking, as well.

If MvC2's re-release was able to sell as well as it did, that's all the more incentive to have MvC3 stick with the controller set-up that former game had. Might as well, right? That'd be like having SSF2HD remix, and then having SF4 being brand-new with an all new control scheme. :lol

I was wondering how you guys felt about the characters in each series...

To be honest, I think Capcom personally looks at each character in each universe and trys to pair them up with an alter ego or someone who is similar in looks, style or personality.

I think characters from the megaman series and viewtiful joe kind of goes along with tatsunoko characters like casshan and polimar etc... and same for Karas and the guy from onimusha 4. etc...

Seeing the same capcom characters appear in marvel vs capcom 3 IMO would make tatsunoko vs capcom lose value...

Some characters are just staples and have to remain, Ryu for example... Chun li, Morgan etc...

Cause if they ever make a second Tatsunoko vs Capcom then it would kind of be lame to see the same capcom characters in both games, IE if they used Capcom Characters like

Zero, Frank, Joe, etc...

One other thing, I think they went back to classic marvel vs capcom style with tatsunoko vs capcom because Im sure some fans prefer that over the 3 on 3 style. But now they have two diffrent series to tackle both types of play.

He's pretty much locked seeing as his name is listed on the official Facebook page about bridging 2 worlds.

This seems to support Frank being that silhouette. Apparently Capcom of Japan has realized / thinks that the west loves Frank West, so they're trying to use him in as many games as possible (which might explain his Lost Planet appearance).

http://www.destructoid.com/capcom-loves-frank-west-wants-him-in-everything-172114.phtml

Also, just so it gets mentioned, D.C. Douglas (Wesker's current voice actor) posted the MvC3 trailer on his Facebook and said "just thought I'd post this....no particular reason...."

I don't really think information would get out so easily seeing as how Capcom is probably going to be careful after SSF4, TvC, and the MvC3 announcement, but it's at least not totally baseless so I think it's worth bringing up.

He's probably in Chris' Story mode if anything. He could be a secret unlockable though....but either way I'd say it's a safe bet that he IS in the game, one way or another.

Dont know if anyone is friends with capcom unity on facebook but they just did a status update saying the voice actor of wesker mentioned the game on his page, they also asked a question in there status update a few days ago asking who would be the best marvel character to compliment Dante ? So I take it both Dante and Wesker are a done deal ?
:lol Look two posts up.

i've read things saying that its going to have elements from street fighter 4

i've also read that the 3 vs 3 style is coming back...but also read that its going to be completely different from MVC2 as well as different from Tatsunoko vs Capcom?

so of the three, which game would Marvel vs Capcom 3 resemble most in terms of gameplay?

-----------

There's a lot of stuff flying around, but in terms of SFIV, the biggest similarity is simply in terms of using 3D models with a 2D fighting style.

3v3 is back, and as far as "completely different" from MVC2 I would say that is simply not correct. It ain't. In terms of gameplay, between SFIV, TVC, and MVC2, MVC3 will by far most resemble MVC2.

Good to hear. I loved TvC, but MvC3 should definitely play more like its predecessor, and let TvC be its own thing.

I've been thinking about the talk of this supposedly having a story emphasis, blah blah.

What if for 1p they had a standard run of the mill arcade mode, and then a seperate story mode? Like you start with a character and his/her story mode, then based on fighting you can have other characters "join" you, maybe even have branching paths. If wouldn't be difficult to have variable team sizes, like maybe the first fight of the story mode is 1v2, then you can "recruit" one of them for the next fight, etc etc

I'm all for the versus competition like everyone else, but this is just an approach they might go with for the 1P stuff. I mean, how do you have any kind of individual storyline going for a 3v3 tag game without making massive changes like I posted above?

If people are right about Trish being in, then Wesker is pretty plausable, because if they have 2 DMC characters, they will at a minimum, have 2 RE characters.

Honestly, that's what I've been expecting. Capcom has seen how the likes of Namco's series have done pretty well for themselves with story-mode add-ons, so I wouldn't be entirely surprised if they do something akin to Soul Calibur or Tekken, here.

Y'know, as long as they don't make it so we're FORCED to play such a mode to unlock characters or endings (hello, Tekken 6!), I'm perfectly fine with such a thing. A properly done MAHVEL sequel stands to be pretty much the only thing that might be able to outright challenge Smash's popularity in being able to have that critical meshing of casual and hardcore. Capcom has to know that much, so I'm looking forward to seeing them do the damn thing with this. :D

If people are right about Trish being in, then Wesker is pretty plausable, because if they have 2 DMC characters, they will at a minimum, have 2 RE characters.

While I agree with 2 DMC characters, I'm still not believing that's Trish, much less that she'll be the 2nd DMC rep.

To me, the fact that they're seemingly going with Dante's DMC3 design does a lot to showcase that they want to dredge up immediately about that game's past success. So why not just go with Vergil, and satiate those who have been crying foul ever since he was denied in DMC4?

Might as well, considering Chris is here, and it's looking like Wesker is going to directly compliment him, as well as advertise RE5.

I like that idea and hope it's something like that. Though I have the feeling it'll be just like other VS games where an ending is gotten to whoever trikes the last blow. Or maybe like KoF where using a certain team yields unique cutscenes. But then I recall the Marvel guy saying characters will have a special intro too which initially made me thing SFIV, but it would certainly match up to what you're proposing.

While I agree with 2 DMC characters, I'm still not believing that's Trish, much less that she'll be the 2nd DMC rep.

The thing that bugs me, is that assuming that Shinkiro poster is the initial playable cast ala MvC2, that would make NO playable females on the Marvel side (and including "Trish" would make 4 Capcom Females), which is why despite looking likely, I just can't believe that's Trish.

New Japanese blog update. Can anyone translate any interesting info?

http://www.capcom.co.jp/blog/mvsc3/

And a new interview with Marvel

But, then the are also characters who are lesser known who would be just as amazing. Someone like Iron Fist would be cool. Someone like Moon Knight would be awesome. Nova would be a cool character. These are characters that aren’t as well known, but pretty amazing. If you just look at the gameplay mechanics, Mr. Fantastic, he’s almost like Dhalsim if you’re looking at power sets.

Let's hope these are hints.

I'd welcome all three of those characters.

There was actually another interesting line in the interview:
Just like with Marvel characters, new and unexpected characters. Characters from Resident Evil would be awesome. I’m a big fan of Lost Planet. I loved Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, so the characters we’ve seen there transfer over. That would be awesome. Anyone from the Mega Man series would be kick ass. Devil May Cry.

That "devil may cry" looks SO out place that i will have to guess that something was censured =P

I mean ... a sentence that is only "Devil May Cry" ? =P

Briarios said:
Clearly, I would love Nova ... but, of course, I have an immense fear that since he actually named him, the character has no chance of being in the game :lol

Well he could be dropping a hint, like one of the characters is actually in, but it would be impossible to figure out which right now.

Yeah it's really hard to say since he mentions Mr. Fantastic which we know isn't in the game since they pretty much confirmed that Super Skrull would be the main F4 rep. But who knows, maybe Capcom's pulling a fast one and we will see Mr. Fantastic. I mean they did effectively "lie" about the game being in development.
