Which games Fanboys piss you off?

Yes. Fanboys in general are annoying. Not when they just praise the games/console they like but when they start blindly bashing other games/consoles, all while claiming their product of choice is the second coming.

Completely agree with this post. It’s those stubble ***** that paid my thread a visit.

And maybe some so called "HL2 elitist" who within one minute after making a thread about Doom 3 have to post a reply about how no one cares etc.. I figured if the thread was empty for two days a comment would applicable I guess but within one minute? Is there some rule that we must post a "no one cares about your thread comment" within the first minute otherwise the thread becomes popular and the game being discussed becomes >>>>>>> [ insert other current FPS game]?

Link to my Thread, it never had a chance. I've actually held disussions about this topic in private because of the threads fate.

I hate portable gaming fan boys.

"But, but, but, it's a console too!"

MY ASS! And my Huffy is in the same market as my Ninja.... *roll eyes*

Completely agree, this thinking is the main reason we've had such few decent discussions around here lately. Well from what I've noticed anyways.

Halo fanboys are the worst for me, the hype for Halo 2 proves my point. Face it, Halo 2 was not the second coming of christ, it was a very good game, but dissappointing to me because I was actually expecting it to be better than the first one.

All fanboys suck.

In general, though, the worst of the worst is without a doubt Nintendo fanboys. No amount of rainbows will color up the stench of a Nintendo [hardcore] fanboy. These are the type of people where you can roll out the god-damned red carpet of flaws about any given Nintendo product, and they will simply ignore it because HEY it's-a-me, Mario!

But Xbot Fanboys are growing on them. It's not at quite the level, perhaps because it has only been one generation... but I can imagine a day when Xbox fanboys and their Halo will rival the Nintendo fanboys and their Mario.

And it's worth noting that while almost no Sony fanboy can compare to the likes of those two types (ok, some people at G-A have almost made me change my mind about this), it's also getting pretty bad with all the Sony PSP fandom. "GRAPHICZ LOLZ YEAH BETTAR THAN ANYTHING DS." God, shut the fuck up.

[/EndRant]

The anti Halo 2 fanboys are rather immature. They continue to tell us that Halo 2 has a crappy storyline which makes the game suck, and yet the same ones will try to sell me that their game of choice is some how better. Now I’m willing to admit that Halo 2 doesn't really stack up to a good deep RPG in regards to storyline. However, when I'm being told games like Metroid Prime have a better story. I laugh. I can understand gameplay arguments if you prefer the playstyle of a game like Prime. I'm using Prime as an example here, but pick your poison if you wish. 99.999% of the storylines in games are cliché' and would fail in print / on the screen. The obvious exceptions being things like Planescape: Torment or Half Life.

"GRAPHICZ LOLZ YEAH BETTAR THAN ANYTHING DS."

Several have reverted back to their Dreamcast / PS2 days. Classic stuff. It's about the games in the home console space though ahah.

Most people seem to just list enthusiastic fans of games they don't like, without actually giving any valid reasons why they piss them off.

Anyway, to address the first post in this thread:

How can you complain about the soundtrack when some of it is remixed versions from earlier RR games (and Samurai Rocket kicks ass)?

How can you complain about the tracks being dull when one of them is from the original Ridge Racer (and is the most famous one)? The tracks are just as twisty and challenging as those in Rage.

How can you complain about the graphics when it's the best looking RR game yet? Would you rather be looking at Rage?

Or the gameplay when it's just a refinement of that in Ridge and Rage?

Fanboys in general suck. Anyone who wants to take a product on the merits of it's company/creator instead of it's actual merits needs a good ol' fashioned punch to the genitals.

That said, Nintendo fanboys are the worst of a bad lot. For god's sakes, Olimario wrote a 2,000 word review on Kirby Air Ride and said it started to get really fun after 60 hours. Uh huh.

Between Olimario and seismologist we could start a missile defense system based purely around the stubborness of their gaming viewpoints.

For me...it's gotta be RRV fans.

To this day....despite it being a lukewarm, jaggyfest pimple on the arse of the Ridge series with a crap non-cheesy Techno soundtrack to boot. Fans of this game still piss me off with their smug opinion that RR5 is the pinnicle of the series.

NO---ITS---NOT.

YES....you are entitled to have an opinion. But only if that opinion engages the brain in anyway. I'll take any of the Ridge series over RR5 and it's bland, dull tracks and shit soundtrack anyday of the week.

Amen.

The only good thing about RRV is that you can now touch other cars and road walls without coming to a full stop.

I really think there really needs to be a distinction between being liking something and being a fanboy.

Personal, I like Nintendo. They don't always floor me and I don't buy all their games, but generally, they put out some quality shit that I usually enjoy more than anything else. Unfortunately, I need a GameCube for such things, and being the poor university student that I am, I was kind of forced with a choice. Nintendo games that I love, or a wider selection of stuff that I might not enjoy as much.

However, I don't think that makes me a fanboy. Unfortunately, the simple fact that I praise the games that I enjoy has resulted in the label of "fanboy" a couple times. It's not entirely common, but it does happen.

Besides, this year, I managed to scrape up enough money for a Crystal Xbox and I've been thoroughly enjoying being able to buy really great, cheap games. I also play my roommate's PS2 quite a bit. So it's not like I'm limiting myself.

Exactly.

When a Nintendo game comes out that IS shit, the only thing the fanboys will do is silence out and do like the game never came out. Then, when that part of Nintendo (and/or second party) is sold or annonces they stop making games for Nintendo, then : "Bah, they never did anything good anyways."

Seriously :
Mario Pinball
Custom Robo
Kirby Air Ride

These are just a few examples of the "silencing out". I'd like to see a Nintendrone come out and accept these games are downright shit.

All fanboys suck, but I think it's unfair to point out Nintendo fans in particular with those examples. Olimario is just about the only person praising KAR upon release. The other two were completely panned and ignored by Nintendo fans. They recognize crap just like everyone else.

halo fanboys, so most xbox fanboys. interesting that nintendo gets mentioned so often, i never heard of that game :)

i hate fanboys who troll other games or music without actually trying them out.

They troll for revenge purposes only ......ie Diablos.

Heh, I just noticed that. Nintendo used to be the first name that popped up when you talked about video games--now it's almost a codename for fanboy.

thats just stupid. Nobody talks about those games cause nobody bought or played them. They went ignored. I have yet to see a whole bunch nintendo fans praising or defending Mario Pinball or Custom Robo, hell i don't know if anyone on this forum even bought them. Plenty of Nintendo fans and gamers in general still like Eternal Darkness and hated Star Fox Adventures despite the SK/Rare splits and have held those opinions.

And despite Cockles' stupid claims, its not like Xbots are constantly talking about how much Brute Force sucked. The game probably got talked about as much as Star Fox Adventures. Lots of hype, then it was released, people rrealized it wasn't very good, then stop talking about it. Some of you are just plain reaching with your stupidass generalizations. Anything Olimario does=all Nintendo fanboys. Or anything Cockles does=all Xbots.

Liking something is alright, you become a fanboy when you begin to hate on other stuff. Prime example recently are the RR PSP fanboys who pester every RR DS thread with their remarks, and DS fanboys who go about the battery life in every PSP thread.

take any of the Ridge series over RR5 and it's bland, dull tracks and shit soundtrack anyday of the week.

Even RRT4? Seriously?

For me, T4 was the big let down. It just felt flat and insipid, with no soul. Even RRR wasn't much more than an update of RR. Rage racer bought some new stuff to the table, and RRV bought lots of speed.

Oh well.

As to who I don't like - simply people who respond to threads that clearly haven't read them, or fail to listen to criticism before simply spouting the same old stuff over and over.

True, but the vast majority went from loving Rare/F5/SK one day to a complete 180 the next when they announced they were leaving Nintendo.

Don't forget the Sony fanboys, who are quiet now, but as the PS3 propaganda/hype starts ramping up, they'll be out in full force. The types that invade every racing game thread hyping the GT series, or invading handheld threads. The ones that only play popular games on the most popular system because if nobody bought it, it must not be for them. To me, that's more insidious..more evil, worst than the rest. I don't even think these people play games for fun, they just like being on winning side, at all costs.

Sega fanboys are the most pathetic though, the only faction that thinks by bashing their "favorite" company's every move is going to make them more popular, at least Nintendo fanboys are loyal to the end. They'd defend a return to carts on the Revolution.

It's difficult to say "Sony fanboys," at least on this board. That's mostly just sonycowboy and Marc. sonycowboy is especially retarded. Don't you dare talk bad about Sony in any way. Hell, he even takes pages from the Nintendo-fankid playbook by pushing pre-emptive damage control.

What are SONY or SEGA fanboys called anyway? We got nbots/nfans and xbots, but i never heard of sbots or sth. like that.

Nintendo fanboys¹ don't bother me at all.

¹- I prefer the term "loyalists" myself.

Usually Nintendo fanboys would be number one, but the constant bickering between Halo 2 and Half Life 2 fanboys is getting extremely grating.

there's really no consensus on the ridge racer series, is there? rage, type 4, and v all have their vocal advocates and their vocal detractors. surely no one hates rave racer, though. that would be perverse.

Gotta love the "I hate those stupid <insert game> fanboys! <insert game> is so lame!" comments. Always good for a chuckle.

More of rare fan betrayel came around the time that everyone got a chance to play Star Fox Adventures.

I agree. I don't like them because they invariably overrate very average games. KoTOR comes to mind. As for the original poster's question: Halo 2. I'm at once baffled and annoyed by their fanaticism.

what the hell is "vast majority"? Do you have statisics or something? Can you name names? The fact of the matter is that you're probably just lumping everyone into what one or two people say (olimario, gahgiggidy). I would venture to guess that most of the people here like more than one console, and more than just one game developer/publisher.

more like a separate set of people became more vocal while the previous set had nothing left to say.

Hell with that, I'm still looking for ONE person who "did a 180" on Rare or SK.

People make up what they would like to be true about Nintendo fans, then they repeat it to themselves every day until they believe it. Then somebody says "Actually I thought Super Mario Sunshine was awesome" and the response is, invariably, "Yeah well you'd buy canine fecal matter if it said Nintendo on the box hahahah fanb0i."

funny thread.

nbot - "i think xbot fanboys are the worse"
xbot - "i think nbot fanboys are the worse"
sonyzealot - "i think they both suck"

i think its ok to be a fanboy of a game or genre of games (you're suppossed to be a fanboy of certain games...your a GAMER)....but system fanboying is pretty lame and immature.

peace

-Sega fanboys piss me off a lot. Sega has been always a pretty hit or miss in regards to game quality, yet the fanboys praise even the shittiest game that comes out of the company. If Outrun 2 was released by any other company, it wouldn't have been noticed and would be regarded as a budget title.

-Hideo Kojima fanboys piss me off as well. So massively overrated, ugh.

-Final Fantasy fanboys who only started playing the series at 7. It's not the best game in the series. Oh and Sephiroth sucks.

-PC fanboys. Seems like they are somehow threatened that a console can play games just as good as their pc for less than the cost of their videocard. You'd have to be fanatical to defend a platform that gets big games released for it less often than the Gamecube.

-2D fanboys. Not so much the ones that enjoy 2D games, but the ones who ONLY play 2D games. Quit living in the past.

-Nintendo fanboys. The nintendo you knew and loved as a kid is dead. Let it go.

Yeah, on the subject of Rare ... didn't a lot of people start getting turned off by them around the time that DK64 came out? Actually, as I recall, the total tribal rescue quest in JFG annoyed the hell out of people. I'm not really trying to debate the value of either game and I don't have any stats to back it up with (save for maybe reviews), but I think the Rare love was starting to wane long before SFA.

I don't mind fanboys. But the trolls who love to mention how this and that sucks are the annoying ones and a good amount of them have posted in this very thread :lol

fallout said:

More like Battletoads for me. I think Snake, Rattle, and Roll was the last good game they made.

Okay, actually I liked Conker's Bad Fur Day and I'm looking forward to playing it on the Xbox. OMG I AM AN XBOX FANBOY SET ME ON FIRE QUICK

I like the people who think that anyone that doesn't agree with them that Specific Game X is shit/the best game ever is a rabid fanboy loyalist/detractor
