Which games Fanboys piss you off?

WoW fanboys.

I swear acouple months ago when trying to do research on the forums for honest WoW opinions, those guys in BETA would not shut up about how bad EQ2's graphics were.
They are not bad, they're just not. Art may be lacking, but I swear they acted likeEQ2 looked like a PS1 game.. Frikin pissed me off so much.
Now I can't trust any of those guys for honest impressions.

For what it's worth, I'm a reformed Sega fanboy. I loved them absolutely right through the opening solvo of non-DC games like Panzer Dragoon Orta. Since then they have produces shit original titles and games that pissed all over their classic franchises like Sakura Taisen and Shinobi. Sports and arcade games aside, they are the Acclaim of this gen.

IAWTP. I don't know what the fuck happened to Sega. I definitely don't agree w/ the notion that they were just another "hit or miss" game company. I mean every game company has "misses" so that doesn't mean anything. Sega did some amazing things at the arcade, some great stuff at home starting w/ the Genny and through the DC. I wonder sometimes what they could have done w/ the DC and whatever next system they could have made had they not had the impending doom of the PS2 with them from Day 1, but the DC had some great months of releases and at that point I really appreciated Sega for being a scrappy underdog that was making incredibly original quality titles that 99% of the public didn't even bother to look at b/c they were all just waiting for the PS2 (and no doubt some who felt burned by the SCD/32X/Saturn Trilogy of Disaster), which was goduckingawful at launch btw but everyone was already proclaiming how the games were light years ahead of the DC, though compared to the DC's games at the PS2 launch, it may as well have been the PSOne. Of course, we all know how that little story turned out.

As far Sega now? Jesus. wtf. Apart from the increasingly rare AAA release, it reminds me of my Simpsons fandom, which began w/ Matt Groening's "School is Hell" book when I was like 7, and then into Tracy Ullman shorts, and Seasons 1-8, then it started getting sorta crappy but you still had some faith b/c the series had built up so much good will through all those years you wouldn't give up on them easily, and then after a constant stream of garbage you just avert your eyes and pretend the thing you once really liked doesn't even exist anymore. It's like in the zombie movies where the friend has to put a slug into his "zombie" friend b/c he's just not himself anymore in any real way.

I'm pretty much ready to put a slug into Sega.

Haha. I'm suprised there haven't been a ton of WoW looks like teh kiddie accusations.

Halo
GTA
Zelda

Halo never attempted to do anything different. GTA hasn't done much different to the core gameplay or engine since GTA3.

Zelda is the best example of a company playing it safe. The 2D renditions haven't changed much from the earlier installments in the series. Each 3D one seemed like an expantion on the earlier one. Still fun games to play but after Wind Waker I'm afraid I'll just find the series too redundent.

OoT was the second coming of Christ in terms of videogames. The next installment won't be but people will treat it as such, especially since it's now even more like OoT.

Just my opinion. :)

I wouldn't be proclaiming it as the "OoT bastard-twin" as of yet, nor as the third coming of Christ. Far as I knew, there have only been a handful of screens released for it. For all we know it could revolutionize games for this current generation, or it could stink like a giant pile of dung.

However I do agree with your viewpoint that there are way too many people salivating over it simply due to it's graphics and general approach (reminds me of Doom 3, Half-Life 2, Halo 2 and RE4 pre-release threads). Granted this is a Zelda game and we all know how big Zelda games are with the general/hardcore gamer.

Which leads me to my 2nd fanboyism hatred - hype. I stopped hyping big game releases after OoT and FF8, simply because at first they did not live up to what I had expected. Not only is hype disgustingly ugly but it's also funny when the hyped game turns out to be a dud and many people are whiplashed, rubbing their sore arses back to the barracks.

Most SEGA Fanboys [Well, what's left] can really see some of the crap decisions they've been making as of late. They were making some fantastic games on the Dreamcast [Crazy Taxi, Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Shenmue] but they've really struggled to make some really nice games on the current platforms. Some of them are very nice, but they're completely brainless when it comes to where to market it.

There were a LOT of games which should have been cross platform and just never went anywhere. Toe Jam & Earl 3 would have made some money on the GC, probably more than on the Xbox. JSRF is a fantastic game which probably would have sold more if it had started off as cross platform. They're seperate teams bias for other consoles really hurt them.

I was looking forward to Altered Beast, but they haden't even tried to make people interested in it. Now it's not getting a release in the US. How many people are awaiting SEGA Rally 2005? Very few I'd imagine.

The only team to get a big amount of sales is really Sonic Team, and even half their stuff hasn't sold very well [Astro Boy, Puyo Pop]. Shinobi, NFL2K#, Monkey Ball and Virtua Fighter 4 are the only other games made by other teams which have sold very well.

Feel the Magic appears to be on the run to be another hot Sonic Team seller. Hopefully the next generation will start anew.

Bring back Streets of Rage while they're at it.

I don't see the point of hyping games that everyone can already have a pretty good general idea on how they will play. I don't expect the new Zelda's interface and mechanics to be much different than any other Zelda game. Metroid Prime 2 for example. Is a great game but it doesn't have the same affect as the first time you played the first Metroid Prime because this time you knew what to expect and you've mastered that "feel".

Sorry if I don't make much sense, been up all night.

Some of the know-it-all, my opinion>>>yours, type Metal Gear loonies seriously get on my nerves. I mean, just browse back through some of the old TTS threads and you'll see my point.

Nice thread. We're asking which fanboys piss you off the most, while everybody on this forum is by definition a "fanboy". So what you're basically asking is, "Is there any particular group of individuals you find the most loathesome based on their preferences of games or console of choice?"

Fans of Jak II irk me.

The game isn't good guys. It's not even average.

Oh, and Halo fans who pretend that the game is the pinnacle of human achievement when it's "mearly" good.

That's easy. GTA 3 and Halo 2 fanboys. By the way when the mods decide to create a new TOS that could ban members inside threads they better make it more visible. I almost post something that could get me banned just because some mod decided to set new rules in the thread and based on these rules he started banning members. Also, it's the only forums I've found on the net, and I find it quite repulsive, that when a mod bans someone, some suck ups are cheering him up for the bannings.

Halo 2, GTA, Zelda: Ocarina of Time

fans I like incidentally: multi-console owners, Zelda fans who can see why someone would like a 2d or unrealistic Zelda, fans of cutesy yet awesome games like: mario, monkey ball, etc. If they ever become a dying breed, so will videogaming for me methinks.

WD/Lunar 1 and 2 fans who have actually masturbated to Jean's bromides and think Victor Ireland is an extremely talented voice actor. There's no getting through to those people I tell ya. :D

I'm not going to say any names but there's a certain Metal Gear Solid/Hideo Kojima fanboy that annoys the shit out of me.

Me too!

There is a certain EA fanboy that fits the same criterea. Their never ending ass kissing of these games/companies is the pinnacle of fanboy-manism.

Oh shit, I completely forgot about two of my least favorite types of posters on videogame forums.

-The "I only like Japanese games" wankers. If it wasn't conceived by someone in Japan, it CAN'T be worth playing. These guys also typically love the stupid plot devices found in anime and just lap that shit up if someone tosses it into a videogame. They are also likely to be

-"OMG TEH ART IS HIDEOS!!!!" fanboys that crap themselves if a game has art or presentation that doesn't jive with their tender sensibilities. These people value style over substance and like ICO. Now that's HIDEOS.

I was right there with this post, until you mentioned Ico. Dayum! It happens to be a great game as well as pleasing to the Japanophile. If you want to find the hypocricy, find out how many people hated the first Tomb Raider but liked this game.

My choice: Miyamoto fanboys, for whom the man can do no wrong. I don't think he's designed an A-level game since Yoshi's Island, myself (and no, I'm notone of those "It has to be 2D fanboys, either).

Oh, add the "gaming was better when it was in 2D, and Nintendo (or Nintendo and Sega) controlled the market" to that list, too. Thank god Sony came along when they did, or we'd be playing on Virtual Boy-II and 32X-IIIs right now.

You know threads like this further cement the fact that Halo is the biggest franchise in gaming now.
Here's a reason why i hate Halo fanboys :) They're delusional and blow everything out of proportions.

Oh, and Metriod Prime fans who pretend that the game is the pinnacle of human achievement when it's "mearly" good.

IAWTP

I picked up MP a few months ago, it was a great game but no fucking way does it deserve the insane amount of praise it got! There are many better Nintendo games this gen.

talking about the second coming...or relating to it, wtf happened to the four horsemen of the apocalypse game...?

They canned it. There was some story on IGN about 5-6 months back about its demise.

IAWTP who said Metroid Prime is hugely overrated. I never even finished the thing, so I shouldn't talk, but the fact that I never finished it probably should speak volumes. It's obviously well made and the graphics are phenomenal, but it isn't really that fun.

For many on this board they feel Nintendo stole their childhood and somehow screwed them over, so they have a harsh hatred for the company. When most of you say "I hate Nbots", you're just saying "Look at my Sony/MS flag and please piss in my mouth because it turns me on." And to that request I say, gladly.

Yeah. I never finished GTA: SA or Halo 2. They're not fun either.

Halo 2 I played all the way through and I thought it was great fun. I do agree with you about GTA:SA though. I havn't completed the game but alot of the missions in the game really SUCK. I just got bored with it. Plus, the graphics really suck.

New technology fan boys are what get me. It doesn't matter what it is, if it's new and has circuits it must be the best thing out there! I remember a sales guy at Babbages telling me the Nintendo Virtual Boy would revolutionize gaming. What a crock of shit!

Seag fanboys are the worst, by far. They are the ones how still maintain that the Model 3 board will never be equalled.

Oops, did I just say that?

Rez is a very cool game, but the hype for it is more annoying than the Metroid Prime hype, for sure. I bet half of it stems from the fact that it's considered a rare game and the it never came out in the US for Dreamcast (see also: Shenmue 2 -- the Xbox port = unacceptable to Sega fanboys).

Oh man, I agree.

If you're trying to piss me off, try harder and aim for The Wind Waker or Skies of Arcadia. You can do it.
