Well, considering she is ageing she will probably never reach the same vocal prowess as Whitney, or Mariah or even Celine. She definitely can sing and she has a beautiful timbre, and a more than respectable range. My only problem with Bey is that she always seems to eager to show it and it is not always a complement to the song. It is not natural like Whitney's, she lacks Whitney's musicality. It feels forced and unnecessary most of the time. Of course she is no Christina on that regard, Christina is beyond hope when it comes to "oversinging", but Bey could tone it down sometimes. All in all, it is only personal preference here, so don't take my opinion too seriously.

Also: Destiny's Child Bey >>>>>> Solo Bey. Just saying. :p

Edit: I just wanted to open a parenthesis here to say that better than all of those is Christina Bianco, who is all of them (and more!) combined in one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3DlDPeurRw Please watch this if you haven't seen it yet! :p

Beyonce's voice and music is nowhere near Whitney's or Mariah's level. It's ridiculous to even try and put her up there.

As the Chosen one said, in Beyonce's case, if acting as stripper is good enough for the teens to eat it up, then yeah she's going to be where for a while.

Of all the useless musicians out there stripping these days. I really see Alicia Keys as a potential Whitney/Mariah in the future. She's good and doesn't need to strip. She also seems to have a good head on her shoulders.

The majority? No, literally all of her hits have featured artists on them.

the way FEATURING mac miller

right there FEATURING big sean

problem FEATURING iggy azalea

break free FEATURING zedd

bang bang FEATURING jessie j and nicki minaj

Pathetic!

No wonder Team Arianna has suddenly gone silent.

Alicia Keys has been around for awhile now though. She's more of a musician's musician like Jill Scott, Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, etc. Highly respected but not a Global Superstar.

True, she could become big or she's happy with how things are. Which is ok too.

Beyoncé is at Madonna / Michael Jackson 's level. I have come to terms with this horrible reality, you better do it too sis.

Not even close.

If MJ looks down, he sees Elvis and the Beatles. These people don't even register.

On a range of 1-10, 1 being "all marketing" and 10 being "all talent" Beyonce is like a 6.5.

Those other names are all darn near all talent 10's.

There are a lot of performers out there who on on Beyonces vocal level...she just had a litle more luck.

Honestly.. They are all dwarfed by Aretha in her prime. Even after her prime she belw them away. Not that these women can't sing well. Whitney was amazing. One in a million.

The first three are considered as highly as they are because of their vocal talent and in that league Beyonce is, and always will be, a player in the minor leagues.

The demand and interest has to be there for an artist to "become" big. Alicia keys would be more popular if people cared about whatever it is she's screeching these days.

All these ladies have great voices (Whitney, Celine, Mariah, Beyonce). I determine who is the best by who can put me to sleep faster as I go to bed. I'll have to give the nod to Celine with any of her greatest hits. :)

Can't tell if that's a compliment or the harshest insult ever thrown in PopGAF.

God Tier >> Michael Jackson, Beatles, Elvis

Demigod Tier >> Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston

Mere Mortals >> Everybody else.

Okay maybe slight exaggeration, but MJ, Beatles, and Elvis completely changed the game and inspired future artists for generations. Beyonce hasn't changed the game. I think she's done a clever job of utilizing a combination of both sex and musical talent to achieve success over a decade. She's basically a less controversial version of Madonna but with a better vocals.

The only thing I see Beyonce trailblazing is Stripper Pop. Strippers disguised as music artist. Then again, female pop star eye-candy has been around for a long time. Beyonce was probably the first one to successfully merge legitimate music talent with pole dancing. Not sure I call that changing the game though. More evolutionary than anything else.

And anybody who compares Beyonce to Michael Jackson, is either too young when MJ was in his prime or doesn't know their music history.

Wow... Elvis being used in the same paragraph as Beyonce when he was the creator of selling sex. These double standards are really showing heavily in these threads. Women are strippers selling sex, men are hero's changing an entire industry with sex... Wow.

None of Beyoncé song have to do with getting on a pole, yet she's called a stripper. She rarely ever has her titties or ass out like how Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim would opt for but wears designed dance pieces to all her shows as well as a well crafted body suit.

Celine Dion won the Eurovision Song Contest, what did the other scrubs do?

Lara was robbed.

Early Aretha is stunning. It's a shame her catalog during the early 1960s wasn't as interesting as her later work, because her voice was in stunning shape. It's also a shame that she was such a chimney.

Madonna and MJ have timeless classics/albums. What has Beyonce brought to the table? A passable voice and less than a handfull of soulless pop-hit has beens.

You are completely right, which is why Beyoncé should not be allowed to defeat Mariah Carey in the PopGAF contest!

I'll bet most people know the words to more Rhianna songs than Bey. Having said that, Rhi Rhi also doesn't belong on that list.

Bey is all image. She's vapid in interviews and never found her footing musically (her last album was all over the fucking place.. and I hate her fake islander accent / tryna be hard as if she didn't grow up in the spot light clearly as a pagent face and not a gangster). She has a decent voice technically, but I'd rather listen to just about any other pop star because of how she uses her voice, lots of yelling and annoying shit. That and she's such a first degree douche bag it's hard to remember what talents she has. I personally think Solange has been killing it with her Blood Orange and Kevin Barnes collabos. She's the real star: she writes, produces and performs (vs. just singing and dancing with a fan in front of her face *rolls eyes*)

. She's basically a less controversial version of Madonna but with a better vocals.
y.

Better vocals, yes. But with a fraction of the hits Madonna had. Madonna's Confessions on a Dance Floor, released after her prime, is still one of the best pop albums of all time, start to finish. My point is, what good do good vocals bring if no one likes your music? I can think of only one or two Beyonce songs that have resonated in the last ten years: Single Ladies, Irreplaceable... yep that's it.

Yeah, she lost it. She's trying to pretend otherwise with them replaying those notes from the 90s hardcore. Her lip-syncing would be fine if it were to notes she could still hit in studio.
