who make MOST next gen movement gameplay for you??

Why make this thread and not name a game as an example? If we are talking movement and which game does it best Titanfall 2 and Spider man 1 and 2 blows whatever Nintendo has to offer out of the fucking park. I like Nintendo but let's not pretend like they are doing anything innovative gameplay wise, I go to Nintendo for simple fun games not for innovation or to be wowed by their graphics.

Wasn't there a user called highpoly that was obsessed with nintendo and Nintendo graphics being compared to pixar?

Never got the I'm brain damaged bit, surely the phone or PC you're using would autocorrect those words, so you're intentionally spelling things the way you are...just seems very strange behaviour

If we're talking about movement, there's a few I've played recently that made a good impression. Wanted Dead (3d action) and Shadow of the ninja (side scroll action) were really good. Can't leave out spiderman. I haven't played the second one and I'm a little skeptical about the gliding. Seems like it could become the default from swinging but I'd how they balance that.

Death stranding has interesting movement, of course. Botw and totk are great in a similar way. The animation and foot placement feels more consequential than it is but it makes the movement fun.

Souls actually has good movement when you're not spamming roll. When locked on, the stepping is fast enough to get just out of range and punish.

Special mention to sonic frontiers which has the ability to tune sonic's movement from the menus. With a lot of detail, too.

Movement was more interesting and varied in old games. Now everyone demands

I've had it up to my ass with invincible rolls. I make sure to try out how a game feels with minimal rolling. A lot of times, even when the game plays fine or better without it, roll is so strong that it's easy to lean on it if you don't make a concessions effort not to.

God too many games are afraid to add any learning curve to their movement. Its crappy. You add a little startup to a jump and suddenly everyone is an expert game designer and the jump should leave the ground instantly. Take it further and every game should have a double jump. You've seen it said. Pathetic.

Mario odyssey was very good. I played hat in time and yooka laylee and neither were as good. Haven't tried dk bonanza.

Maximo was perfect. Quake was perfect. Returnal was perfect. Mechwarrior 2 was perfect. I'm just naming random games now.

All of the above I'm talking about the design of the movement and it's consequence to the gameplay.

Tough to say, but overall, this is an area that we've progressed very little in the past 15 years. We're in an era that unless From Soft released a game in a given year, STALKER Anomaly is the default GOTY.

**I see no generational delineation between PS4 era and PS5 era. I consider it the same generation**

Shooter
Titanfall 2
Trepang 2
Severed Steel

Third Person Combat
Metal Gear V
Elden Ring

Third Person Traversal
Sekiro
Metal Gear V

Cars (can't comment on wheels or GT7)
Forza Motorsport (controller) (4 has better structure as a game, but Motorsport is a clear generation ahead in controller handling. Go back and play it)
Dirt Rally 2.0 (controller)
Project CARS 2
SHIFT 2 (best in class feeling, this design pitch has so much potential in the right hands and budget)

Simcade racing as a whole has come so far and From Soft is the only thing keeping gaming a legitimate art form. As a whole, we will never recover from Kojima not getting to finish MGS V.

Not a Nintendo game so far this generation.
I would say Destiny 2,Split Gate 2 and Ninja Gaiden 2 Black for this generation.

Last gen Titan Fall 2 and all time would be the Unreal Tournament games.

the destruction is one reason why the game's movement doesn't feel all that great tho.

due to the extreme destruction features, your movement is fully done server-side. so instead of your game locally updating and then sending that update to the server, the game first sends your inputs to the server, the server then updates your position and sends the information back.

so the higher your ping the more movement related input lag you'll feel.
aiming is done client side of course, so that's not affected.

Don't know how high your ping is, but I'm located in Denmark, right next to Sweden and Germany and I haven't noticed any movement issues. Also movement in online game are always affected by ping. Server-side movement physics in The Finals are just synced to destruction elements in the game. The server predicts the destruction you're making and it's happening slower than your movement (ping), so you won't even notice it - unless you have high ping ofc..

What you're referencing is from the closed beta and Embark implemented their magic trick when the game released.

I've played all the major online FPS's and The Finals has (by far) the tightest movement of them all. Titanfall 2 used to be the king, but The Finals are so much more smoother and traversal feels like a breeze.

Agreed!
It's actually very impressive how they pull of dynamic destruction and movement so synergistically.
I play on the east coast of the U.S. and have never had issues. Everything always feels smooth and responsive.

Apparently there was a big update for the destruction at the start of season 7, but there is another big one planned for mid season from what I've heard.
