well MS' first attempt was pretty good. And the other companies have had 4 years to copy it.

And making the main peer-peer elements of it free would be easy - the only thing left to the publisher for non-MMORPG is the actual connection, and they are usually peer-server, so no cost to the publisher.
 
I think this article has some crediblity,for example it was confirmed/hinted by Kawano just a few days ago that Suikoden is coming on PS3 and on 9/9 Sonic was confirmed for PS3 too.
If what they're saying about MGS4 is true (and we're gonna discover it really soon) then I'd consider this reliable.

I REALLY wouldn't doubt that one. Yes. New Makaimura. It's coming to PS3 and it'll be fully 3D. You can quote me on that. :)
 
The GTA4 stuff, if true, woud be GIGANTIC!!!...

If that stuff is accurate, it sounds as if it would be a difficult port to X360.....and that might be the point!!!
 
I think the article is genuine, after all it's mostly typical PSM fanboy speculation and biased reporting. The list is probably 80% conjecture from hearsay and maybe historical evidence but I tend to believe it's real (as in it's from the magazine).

GTA 4: Rebuilt from the Ground Up

The next GTA game is going to look really good. Actually, maybe that should be feel really good. It's a no-brainer that on the most powerful games console yet, one of our favorite series will have better graphics. But, base on developer Rockstar North's technical research, GTA4 will be more about immersion than just mere eye candy.

Rockstar North is creating a specialized game engine for PS3 that will bring GTA 4 to life to a degree that the PS2 games could only hint at. Speciafially, they're going to be using the high data transfer bandwidth of the Cell CPU, RSX GPU, and Blu-ray Disc to use several streams of game info simultaneously. The game's city- unfortunately yet to be even hinted at- will still be free roaming and seamless, but broken down into smaller, more deatailed areas at the engine level, into which the game designers are going to eb able to pour more textures, more oject variety, and tons of details (such as discareded soda cans with their own physics), just for starters. The goal is a city that's less repetitive and where everything - and everyone-

i don't see any betrayal in this list Izzy. On the other hand, Splinter Cell 4 which is supposed to be released before PoP4 isn't listed.

Including the 1Milion for the UE3? I rather doubt that.
For all we know both Katamari Damacy games combined cost under a milion to make.
 
I had a quick look on the PSM website. Appearantly the last issue (October) hit the newsstands on August 30th - wouldn't it be a bit early to already have received the November issue (especially since no one on the forums there has)?

I'm not saying this guy is making it up, but I remember some other rumors from PSM magazine not too long ago that turned to be untrue.
 
i've said it before; rockstar should make a GTA MMORPG. i'd prefer it on the PC rather than PS3 though.

I think the license to use the Unreal Engine for one title is --WAY-- more than 1 million.

I believe it's either pay one large fee and that's that.

Or pay based on royalties.

But hey, not too sure so if know you're right than--yeah, you're right.

From Software's Project Force too. That Formula One game shown at E3 too (assuming it's more than just a demo). And Lair. Probably others too, the more I look at it, the more things I see missing.

Anyway, I wouldn't pay too much heed to this. We're only days away from TGS now, where we'll surely have nice new verifiable information from the horses' mouths :)

No Sony pre-TGS conference, they will have a large presence at the show but that’s about it. Only MS is having a conference before the show.

Aww, no early info. Oh well, I hope this is a sign that they might be showing as much as they're telling - although it perhaps makes some information less likely (like perhaps online info or info about the non-gaming functionality), unless they're going to demo that kind of stuff on the showfloor with videos.
 
The general feeling is that Sony considers xbox 360 to be a possible contender in this generation, so they're not going to just rest on their laurels.

Kojima confirmed this at E3. They were planning the 3D camera for MGS4, but also decided to include it in MGS3:Subsistence to get feedback and improve and upgrade it for MGS4. In Subsistence you'll be able to switch between the 3D camera and the traditional style in realtime as you wish, although there's no word on whether that'll be the case in MGS4.

But seriously, the sooner every game can be elevated out of the fixed camera angle ghetto - the better. I hate fixed camera angles with a passion.

PS3 is slated to have an actual online community ready to back it up on day one, complete with friend tracking, message services, and a central hub for everything. If it sounds like xbox Live, it should. Sony has been folloowing M$'s moves, and, well, plans to copy most of them, according to our sources. "They [Sony CEA] have a whole division that was put in place after the Network Adaptor was released for PS2 that bascially dropped focus on PS2 and moved to planning the PS3," says one designer working on an online PS3 title. "They knew that early that they were not going to compete during the current gen."

I got PSM back when it first started (for free), at the time it was a decent mag. In recent year however (friend of mine gets it now) they've degraded into a fanboy fap-fest over all things PS2/PS3. They don't make shit up unless its in the "rumors" section, but something like "M$" wouldn't surprise me, in fact I know I've seen that in the mag before, though it may have just been in the letters section (still, they'd print fanboy letters without at least editing that out too).

If its legit we'll all know in a few weeks when PSM hits the shelves. Everything in it is entirely plausable, in fact I expect most of it, but PSM getting the scoop and some internet forum goer getting ahold of it early and leaking it everywhere? I don't know 'bout that.

You'd have to be a complete and utter twat if you believe that. X360 is going to be hot this christmas, by ignoring the potential threat from MS, Sony would be demonstrating ignorance of epic proportions, Nintendo level of ignorance which could hurt them in the future.

And thats the thing.....unlike Nintendo, Sony aren't oblivious to their competitors.....they are pretty smart and at least *try* to make as few mistakes as possible....they even try to improve things over time and the online news is proof of this......they still seem to be on top of their game with PS3 and PSP...

Toppling these guys will be very, very hard, if not impossible in the short term....
 
I wouldn't take this stuff as factual news just yet..

The insistence with which PSM has been reporting "exclusive" stories about PS3 since E3 is suspicious.

Hopefully we'll hear and see more about Sony's online plans for PS3 this week (although I'm not holding my breath).
 
PS3 will have a limited playable presence at TGS 2005. Sony has told PSm to expect a significant presence for the system at January's CES in Las Vegas.

This part sounds very, very suspicious - perhaps the mag info is fake. On the other hand, they NAILED G'n'G on PS3 bit, so who knows?
