I start with "F", end in "uck", and am heard when bad things happen. What am I?

Three men go to a hotel and each rent a room. The owner says it will be $10 and all 3 pay. Afterwards, the owner realizes there was supposed to be a special of 3 rentals for $25 dollars. The owner cannot break a 5 between the 3 of them, so he decides to keep 2 of the $5 and return $3 to the 3 customers. This is effectively returning $1 to each customer, meaning they each paid $9 each.
$9 * 3 = $27
$27 + $2 the owner kept = $29

Where did the extra dollar go?

Piggy bank.

Uh, what?

3 men pay $10 - $30 dollars to the owner.
Owner gives each man $1 back - $27 for the owner, $1 for each man.

His special was bullshit because he still overcharged them by $2. There was no extra dollar. The wording in this riddle takes a dive off a cliff towards the end, I have no idea where the "2 of the $5" part comes from.

The extra dollar didn't go anywhere.
They each got a dollar back, $3, the hotel has 25$, and the keep has 2$.

You're outside a room.

In the room are 3 lights.

Outside the room are 3 light switches.

No light leaks out of the room.

From outside the room you can turn the switches on or off as many times anyway you like.

You then have to walk into the room and tell me which lightswitch goes with which lightbulb.

What do you do?

Spoiler your answer if you know it.

Turn 2 lights on, wait a bit, turn one off, and feel which light bulb is hot?
