Whose thinking of switching? PS->XB

Goddammit MS… I've been a Sony fan this generation and absolutely love all their first party stuff (I'm currently winging my way through the excellent Days Gone, really cant see how this game is considered average tbh) I had a 360 before, then they gone fucked it up with their next generation reveal whilst Sony knocked it out of the park with the far superior console so it was a no brainer decision back then to switch.

Now, things are very different, I've got 7years worth of PS+Games, 80% I've yet to play, half of them I want to play, but it's still a huge digital collection of games. I was never into MP so I wont be missing out if I did switch but by fuck Sony really got its hooks into me with their 1st party efforts, I played the TLOU remaster & Uncharted Collection twice over, all the remastered PS3 stuff and pretty much loved all their 1st party outputs so my mind was salivating at the prospect of next gen TLOU3, UC5, GOW2 etc etc and then MS had to come along and do every fucking thing right (apart from their dumb ass reveals)

The console is the more powerful, only a fucking deluded fanboy would argue otherwise, GamePASS… man that's a fucking game changer right there, all those games PLUS MS studios 1st party efforts all for a few quid a month including the exclusive Elder Scrolls 6!?? And Sony is gonna charge me how much for their 1st party games??? £70!! FOR A SINGLE FUCKING GAME….

Decisions Decisions… I was gonna pull the plug, preorder my PS5 and pick it up at midnight on release buuuuuut MS has made me wait, so I'm gonna hang tight, replay some of my back catalogue on my Pro and patiently wait for the proper next generation release of CyberPunk so that I can see exactly what a top tier independent studio can wring from each system and then make what I imagine to be a hard fucking decision… but Kudos Microsoft, your back in the game!

hey.......HEY....your life, your choice.

I know, the problem was up until MS revealed all their cards it was a no brainer decision... now... not so much, i've a mate who feels the same and whats stopped him pulling the plug is Elder Scrolls 6, hes puts divorce hours into Skyrim and Fallout so he aint pleased about them being locked away onto Xbox

No way, I'll just upgrade my pc and buy a ps5.Like I did this gen without any regrets.

I hate gaming at a desk, i have a top o range work laptop i can game on but again its a minor pain in the hole setting it up and packing it away each evening, i prefer to grab a gamepad and go sit on the couch...

I guess anythings a step up from that cheating bitch Chess wizard..

Eh Mac?

Mac?

My pc is hooked to my Tv, remote m/kb and controller.I couch play pc games. No hassle.

Why switch? Just get both. Xbox + Game Pass first to save a shitload of money on games and after 3-4 years a cheap PS5 with cheap games. Cinematic singleplayer games don't run away, nothing to miss if you get them later.

A independent studio that has a marketing deal with MS and was always quite close to MS but not sony.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cyberpunk is gonna run and look worse on PS5 and that won't have anything to do with the HW capabilities.

OP, you need to :

1) Get rich like me.
2) Buy every console under the sun, whilst laughing at the poor folk.

Ooooo controversy... nah cant see that tbh, they'll wring every last juice outa each one i imagine

I honestly dont think anyone here cares about the more powerful console, its the biggest bullshit reason to buy one, if i wanted the most powerful i would stay on my PC, as would others.
you pick a console for it's games. if gamepass contains what you want to play, well choose xbox. if the high end triple a games of sony are what you enjoy, you choose ps5.

we really cant help you with this.

No chance. Just had the best gen ever with PlayStation. Satisfaction levels through the roof. If I was to switch it would be to pc as xbox has nothing over it. But I won't be switching.

I sincerly hope so cause I'm a CDPR fanboi and they have always been pro consumer. But I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out badly on consoles.
But we will see that soon enough I guess.

Well at least the basic backcompatible versions at least.
Cyberpunk next gen patches will be released next year :(

this independent studio your talking about has a higher value than Ubisoft, stop spreading bullshit

?

Care to explain what exactly is bullshit?
CDPR has a marketing deal with MS thats a given.
If that deal will have impact on the PS5 port is quite a stretch yes.
But things like this have been done in the past by both Sony and MS.

you are making assumption and spreading false info based on something that has happened in the past. maybe wait until it actually does run worse.

Last generation it was clear cut who the winner was when it came to the big reveals, MS fucked it up so bad they lost right out of the gate and millions of Xbox360 users simply switched to the better console and Sony just ran away with it… This time round I imagine there's gotta be quite the number of PS4 fans who are now in a similar position to all those 360 fans back in the day especially seeing as both are bang on price wise but with Xbox+Gamepass being the far better value proposition not to mention the more powerful hardware.. its not quite so clear cut this time round

Again please explain where I am spreading false info?
Nothing I wrote was declared as a fact.

Reading my posts quite clearly states where I am making assumptions.
Stop beeing so triggered.

FFS just because I'm not taking everything as granted and thinking about stuff doesn't mean I'm making FUD up.
Those are just reasonable things to consider.

As a PC gamer and even if I was only a Nintendo/Sony fanboi - I fail to see how MS is offering anything worthwhile right now?
There are no exclusive games shown yet that would come even close to what Sony is offering right from the start.

Those gamepass titles are all games that have already been released too.
Can you show me anything that will come to gamepass until March 2021 that comes close to Spiderman, Demon Souls or Ratchet and Clank?

Well, I'm still gonna get a PS5 for the exclusives but I may well just make XSX my primary console. Pretty much for the reasons you gave OP, not liking Sony's arrogance at the moment, especially the £70 games.

The difference between the two consoles is going to be negligible, we are already seeing parity between games. You keep banging on about xbox being more powerful , yet Sony are showing more of the next-gen feature that has been touted as the next big thing, ray-tracing.
Game-pass is a great deal when MS starts pumping out good exclusives, until then it has less games than psnow.

All new games from 3rd party could be £ 70. I fail to see your point exactly ?

Third party set their own prices.

Buy em both if it feels so.

As long term PS gamer xbox is even less interesting now IMO.

Your points:

1. more powerful: it is only one number on paper, devs are the real power. And Sony have best devs on earth. So im 99% PS gamer dont have to envy xbox game graphics, if any, PS5 doesnt have to drag slow PCs and series S behind them. If anyone is delucional, it is them whom think it doesnt affect how good looking games series x gets.
Just imagine game running 1440p on PS5, upscaled to 4k, looking great. Xsex have to run it on 4k at lower details, or series s runs it sub 1080p

2. Gamepass

It is fun until games you like wont come into it, then you pay for GP and its hundreds of games(of you play maybe 10-20%, just think your ps+ backlog) and for new games. Or games leave the service before you finished them. Also MS tells us "yeah this new game is worthless because we give it out almost free on GP, but want to buy it? Then it is 50-70€"

GP is one of these deals that sum seems small, it gives lot of stuff. But if 80% is poop you dont really need, it is basically like paying 155€/year for few games, or around 1000€ in gen. Which you could use on games in sale/used and OWN them. 155€ = many many cheap games/year.

And it is possible that budgets get lower = quality of games drops

Also your ps+ collection is kind of better gamepass, older games but you own them until you stop paying. But it lacks the new games.

Nobody forces you to pay 70£ for games, dont be stupid consumer. Sony isnt nintendo, they cut the price fast. So anybody complaining about 70£/80€ have no patience.

IMO your reasoning doesnt sound like you have really thought all aspects.

It is not simple as "12tflops = best games" or "Gamepass = best games"

Do you play games because they are good, or because you have biggest number on paper and cheapest rentals?

No. You play games because they are good.

Ps. All people whom cry about 70£/80€ are just seeking attention. Nobody forces you buy it on launch, if you have no patience to wait few weeks/months then just suck it up and pay the premium ;)

On one hand, I do wanna play my old 360 games and be prepared for future stuff like Bethesda games and awowed... On the other hand, japanese games and ff16... I guess I'll just wait for more announcements, I'm not short of current gen games to finish

Own both consoles this gen & once gamepass was available, became super addicted to trying all those games & have never looked back. I recommend getting the Xbox to start off with if you care about expenses.
It takes so long for a good playstation exclusive to come out, having to purchase games to keep you busy for the time in-between just isn't worth it. Plus you get EA Play as well.

I thought about going Xbox, but changed my mind. Playstation looks much more durable (judging from the teardown video) and elder scrolls 6 is still at least 4 years away.

I may get a Xbox series x pro with es6, but who knows. Might as well save that money to buy a pc.

Switching is a no-go. I've got 756 titles on PS4, so for better or worse I'm not abandoning that digital library.

I jumped in to the Xbox this generation with the One X. It's great console (whisper quiet) and I've had Gamepass since May of 2019. The "problem" with the service is that it's so late in the generation so I'd already purchased the first party titles I was interested in (mainly Forza Horizon series) and most everything else that is offered I'd already played elsewhere or I'm not super interested in. I do think the prospect of Gamepass going into a new generation is far more appealing and that's probably why I'll get a Series X at launch along with a PS5.

i think i will do Xbox access in two years .
i will able to play / test all ms exclusive (for now software is still a bet on their front imo) and only keep and support the one that really deliver to my taste.

I honestly think there's no need to choose one console over the other this time around, IMO the best solution is the PS5 DE + XSX via All Access combo - you get a PS5 for just 399 for the exclusives, which sure are 80€ here in EU but let's be honest, there will be just 2 of them each year, with about half a year intervals, so not much of a expenses there, while All Access program gives you XSX and constant flow of new games for just 35$/month, and what's more important - the XBL is already included, so you are already set for any online gameplay without any additional charge for XBL/PS+. So the only thing left as far as expenses go would be 3rd party titles. If anything, the biggest issue of them all would be the time to play all the games ;)
