Whose thinking of switching? PS->XB

Sure why not. This is the "setup" (I have a blanket over it because it's my favorite chair from 15 years ago and so no longer in the best of shapes underneath):

This is how it would look like looking at the TV (I haven't dusted the top in a while, but in my defense I live in a desert area and dust accumulates super fast):

When I'm just using the controller, I use this mouse on the side table to navigate the interface:

This is how it would look like on a new and bigger recliner (I actually bought this to replace my old recliner, but turns out the old one is more comfortable).

The plank of wood is super light so it's very mobile, and very thin so it wouldn't dig into your wrist area when you rest your arm. When I'm done playing I just lift the whole thing like a dinner tray and put it to the side.

I hope this was useful to you or anyone else.
Set up looks decent enough but that doesn't explain all the jizz stains on your blanket.

Knowing you don't have to spend $70 to game is all the initiative needed to switch. Not paying that much. Xbox saves the consumer more money.
Not everyone is just looking for the cheapest thing possible (or to only rent games). The value of a game is subjective and so there is no point in the comparison if it isn't the exact same game. For instance, I would rather pay $100 for Demon's Souls than pay $5 for Gears Tactics, and LOU2 I wouldn't want even if you paid me.

LMAO. I've never fucked or jacked off on this chair, so I don't have to double check. Must be the light because it was washed just a few days ago.

Thanks for the comment. I'm still working on this room so it's still a little barebones. However, in terms of PC gaming on a TV, I couldn't be more comfortable.

I remember the day clearly. I was happy as heck because I was lucky enough to get a PS5 preorder. Got a WhatsApp message from my brother saying did you hear what Xbox has done? I was like meh, not too fussed, but then he said Bethesda.

Now, joke all you like but Bethesda is just a magical studio for me. Say what you want about bugs, but I spend on average 500hrs in Bethesda games, that's like twice as long as BOTW/RDR2/etc.

I cancelled my PS5 order as I couldn't stop thinking of the chance of not being able to play a Bethesda game on it. Gamepass is also pretty damn neat. Even if the games do come out on PS5, I'll probably save £200+ because of Xbox.

Thank you for attending my tedtalk.

Perfectly understandable. I too wouldn't give priority to the device that isn't going to have my absolute favorite type of game.

Also that last part made me lol.

I usually always buy both consoles, however, this will be the first time since the Xbox 360 that I don't buy an Xbox. Now that the games I play with friends have cross-play, I'll be using by PC for those games. I already have my PS5 on preorder for that first party goodness.

Goddammit MS… I've been a Sony fan this generation and absolutely love all their first party stuff (I'm currently winging my way through the excellent Days Gone, really cant see how this game is considered average tbh) I had a 360 before, then they gone fucked it up with their next generation reveal whilst Sony knocked it out of the park with the far superior console so it was a no brainer decision back then to switch.

Now, things are very different, I've got 7years worth of PS+Games, 80% I've yet to play, half of them I want to play, but it's still a huge digital collection of games. I was never into MP so I wont be missing out if I did switch but by fuck Sony really got its hooks into me with their 1st party efforts, I played the TLOU remaster & Uncharted Collection twice over, all the remastered PS3 stuff and pretty much loved all their 1st party outputs so my mind was salivating at the prospect of next gen TLOU3, UC5, GOW2 etc etc and then MS had to come along and do every fucking thing right (apart from their dumb ass reveals)

The console is the more powerful, only a fucking deluded fanboy would argue otherwise, GamePASS… man that's a fucking game changer right there, all those games PLUS MS studios 1st party efforts all for a few quid a month including the exclusive Elder Scrolls 6!?? And Sony is gonna charge me how much for their 1st party games??? £70!! FOR A SINGLE FUCKING GAME….

Decisions Decisions… I was gonna pull the plug, preorder my PS5 and pick it up at midnight on release buuuuuut MS has made me wait, so I'm gonna hang tight, replay some of my back catalogue on my Pro and patiently wait for the proper next generation release of CyberPunk so that I can see exactly what a top tier independent studio can wring from each system and then make what I imagine to be a hard fucking decision… but Kudos Microsoft, your back in the game!
Sony has the much better exclusives and all the 3rd party games. Will stick to The Sony platform.

I never bought Xbox One, barely touched it outside the store demo. Owned PS4 this generation and to be honest, I don't know why I should buy a PS5 now. For the exclusives? Naughty Dog just released a game this year and their new game is probably 4-5 years away. Same goes for Bend studios, media molecule, Kojima etc. Sure, you got Horizon coming down next year, but since it will also release on PS4, it won't build its game around the SSD or take full advantage, so might as well cheap out and play that one on PS4. God of War will be delayed to early 2022.

Anyway, I might as well just buy Xbox series S now and play through the exclusives (and future ones + multiplat) I missed and wait for Naughty Dog in 2025.

thats the problem m8, i just dont fucking know.. genuinely dont know what system to go for

Both. It's a no brainer. Why even waste thought cycles agonizing over it? The annual cost of a console over the life of the generation is a pittance. You're talking like $65/year for each system over the average life of a console generation.

Just get em both. The only question is whether you buy them both at launch and if not, which one do you buy first? That's going to be slightly different for each person.

I'll admit I do like MS's efforts with B/C and their game pass sounds really good. Plus, MS seems to be more pro-consumer than Soyny. but at the end of the day, Sony still has first-party games I want to play. Who's to say that MS won't fuck us and Sony turns face by mid-gen? Maybe Sony will see some value in BC?

Soyny has really done anything that makes me want to "switch". I have a switch tho so I'm good.

Ok do so. Someone will get your reservation for ps5 xD

I get that OP.
How do you feel about PC as a platform? Sorry if it's been asked before. You would get the Game Pass and Xbox exclusives.

I do completely understand why somebody would switch though. Game Pass is an amazing value, it's actually ridiculous how much value it provides for certain people. Personally I haven't gotten much use out of it but I know people that haven't bought games in over a year between Game Pass and stuff like Apex/Warzone. I also think the Series S will catch a lot of people with it's price even if I think most people should spring for the Series X from a value standpoint if it's their primary console.

$70 isn't going to be an only Sony thing so don't let that sway your decision. I don't like the price jump either, but games have been $60 for 15 years and inflation accounts for more then a $10 price increase.

I've always felt Sony was overrated and their "success" has been a matter of luck (they really don't make much money). And their exclusives are just obscenely overrated tech demos.

doesnt matter, he couldn't get a preorder for either one. And he's not considering getting both so he won't pay a premium to a 3rd party for 1. He's gotta wait anyway. It will work itself out in 2021

It's a tough one for me. Have ryzen 5 3600 and rx 5700 xt. I know the consoles are gonna be more powerful until I upgrade and upgrading is difficult with everything out of stock. Or i just get a console and be done with it.

I'll give the PS5 a whole year to become attractive to me because as of today it isn't. If that doesn't happen, its going to be PC time.

I will never spend a single cent on Xbox related games, consoles or services. The only thing they can do to me is expel me from gaming if everything becomes their business model.

I will continue to do what I did this gen. Be in Xbox ecosystem and buy PS5 by the end of generation to play their single player games.

- The PS5 is only 15% weaker than the XSX in GPU Compute (smallest difference in history), and 220% more "powerful" in SSD speeds. Basing a purchase decision of this is laughable.

- GamePass - lots of old games and Microsoft exclusives day 1 that may or may not be good. It seems like a good value, but it really needs to have the weight of next-gen software to make it a great value, and Mirosoft's first party quality isn't near as strong as Sony.

My 2 cents - keep the PS5 because out of the gate you will have MUCH better games to play in the first few years. If MS ends up delivering the goods with all their first party titles in 2-3+ years, then the XSX should be cheaper and you can still pick up GamePass.

That's my plan. I want a reason to own an Xbox eventually and want MS to be competitive, but PS5 will always be my main console. UI/SSD speeds are better, controller is better, that's going to make a bigger difference than 15% in Compute.

No, I don't think Xbox will give me the games I want and I think I'm no longer their target audience.

You play quirky Japanese single player games, you may not be anyone's target audience tbh

I've always felt Sony was overrated and their "success" has been a matter of luck (they really don't make much money). And their exclusives are just obscenely overrated tech demos.

I wouldn't say it has been complete luck, but it is amazing how over the years a lot of their success can be attributed to melt downs by their competitors. All the way back to the original PS where Nintendo and Sega pretty much handed it to them.

Now that i've discovered how easy it is to get gamepass ultimate for free i'll probably use Xbox more next gen but ps will still be my main platform

Gamepass is as i thought it would be though. 95% of stuff i've already played or crap not worth downloading. Really needs that constant stream of first party titles to even be worth paying for

Fair enough. I don't really follow the "trends" either so I'm all good with that
If all we get is games that are "popular" then we going have boring ass game selection. The games I'm in to may not ever do COD numbers in terms of sells but they make the gaming exciting......for me at least.

Forgive me Jimbo for I have sinned. After 20 years of being primarily a PlayStation gamer I caved and pre ordered an Xbox.

A Series S in fact.

I never planned to get a PS5 at launch, couldn't get one anyway even if I wanted with how fast they sold out. The plan was always to wait a year or more, untill a good amount of PS5 exclusives came out, cause Souls games never interested me and Miles Morales I can play on my PS4. And my PS Plus games in addition to all the games I bought during various psn sales made my ps4 backlog so big I don't need new games on that system in the near future and there are barely any that interest me outside of Cyberpunk.

Don't know why but I got curious and looked up the Series S on Amazon yesterday and to my surprise it was still available for preorder for 290€. A nice bonus, you get 3 months of Game Pass Ultimate for 40% off, which makes it cost 24 €.

Since I don't have a 4k TV and won't get one for a long time, simply no interest, I jumped on this offer. 314€ for a next gen console with 3 months game pass ultimate with a library of xbox first party games I never played plus all them third pary games seems like a very good deal.

WIll use it as a Game Pass machine and for third pary games like Cyberpunk which would probably fry my base ps4. xD

Then once Horizon 2 and GoW 2 etc. are out and fell in price, cause fuck bying 80€ games, then I will get me a PS5.

No way, I'll just upgrade my pc and buy a ps5.Like I did this gen without any regrets.
Same thing. I'll upgrade to a PS5 hopefully next year. I'll upgrade my PC when GPU's are actually in stock and I will hang on to my Xbox One X for a while longer. Considering I still have Game Pass, it makes sense to have a PC to take advantage of the extra GPU power there (Currently rocking a 1080ti).

Imo to OP, start with a GPU subscription. I think thats a good first step for next gen, you can play a lot of games, and multiplatform are most likely better on XSX.

Maybe get PS5 later, with the Pro or mini revision.

Funds are limited, i know, just start with the more value buy, use your head instead of your heart.

If for some reason I could only have 1 console (no pc too). I'd prob go with Xbox, as much as I love spider man and uncharted I would play elder scrolls 100s of times longer.

In reality I'd either get both consoles (Xbox for most stuff, ps5 for exclusives) or just get a ps5 down the line for exclusives and get everything else on pc.

Between family members I basically get every next gen console, if the decision is causing you trouble you gotta go with the games.

I think I mentioned on other threads, but I'm "expanding" to XB, not switching. I contracted in previous gen to PS side, but there are some games that would give a better experience on Xbox (gfx wise), and enough BC catalog that I want to try out now.

PS5 and Switch will fulfill my niche gaming needs, which is the main course for me - and XSX will fill in anything extra, along with my PC.
