I’ve been on a Jack Ryan kick. I’m rereading the Sum of All Fears (it’s one of my all time favorite books) and I’ve been rewatching the movies.
Personally I think Hunt for Red October is the best movie and Alec Baldwin is the perfect Ryan. Harrison Ford was a great Ryan and I enjoyed his movies. I really liked the Sum of All Fears movie but Ben Affleck wasn’t the best choice for Ryan.
Shadow Recruit is an okay not great movie, but I really enjoyed Chris Pine’s performance. I thought he had terrific potential for the series but if they stuck with some of Clancy’s material it would have been better (granted it was kind of their bastardization of Cardinal of the Cremlin but really it’s just because of the Moscow setting).
The Amazon tv series is really good and I think Krasinski is doing well enough but I can’t help but wonder if he was the right guy. I wish they’d found a way to keep Chris Pine. I am looking forward to season three. Tom Clancy is turning in his grave over how they depicted Greer though
