Being a fan of the DKC series, I am looking mighty forward to Jungle Beat coming in these next few days. I'm glad the series is to going back to its fast-paced 2D roots. But you know, as I look at the previews and movies, I've been wondering. Where the hell are the other parts of the series? Here are the things that I'm realizing about the game.
1) No other Kongs. There is an entire Kong Family to cover. Diddy Kong (my personal favorite), Dixie (who still hasn't had a 3D adventure), Cranky, Funky, the whole gang. I always liked the whole family in the series. But in Jungle Beat, there is literally no supporting cast. Just Donkey Kong himself. Couldn't they be the monkeys that DK is trying to rescue (rather than those white-colored monkeys)?
2) No Kremlings. Or K. Rool. The crocodile people are the main villians of the series. They are like the Koopas of the DK series. And I was hoping they would have some sort of role in this, seeing how they are the Kongs' arch-enemys and such. Maybe they could've replaced those KISS-type Kongs with tough Kremlings or something? I mean, they are in Mario Power Tennis, but not this?
3) No Reoccuring Animal Buddies. No Rambi, no Enguarde, no Squwaks or Expresso, nada. Well, we do have animal buddies in this game, but...they are exactly the same as the old ones anyway! That ram you ride in the snow levels? Could've easily been Rambi. Those parrots that you ride throughout the levels? Could've easily been Squwaks. Eh, couldn't they have just used them instead?
Basically, everyone in the DKC series is absent from this game. But not just that, most of these characters in the game could've just as easily been in place of others. Konga was a completely different game, but at least it still had some staple characters through the series. If this is the Donkey Kong game for the Cube, then just why are these characters not in them? It just seems incredibly odd that they are leaving them out. And if this new studio keeps producing the main DK games, they may never show up again! Did anyone else notice this?
Well......at least the game will be fun, eh?
