Why can MS make a CoD game every year but it takes every other studio 5+ years to make game?

Look at the last 20 years, there's been a COD game out every single year and they sell lot pancakes.
Most were good, some were ok but every single one of them featured a huge MP, some kind of SP (minus one) and/or Zombies.
CoD is not a sports game, you can't just copy and paste it like FIFA. MS is smart enough to dedicate its employees to prioritize CoD which makes them money.

I don't see why EA can't do the same with BF. ubi tried with AC.
 
COD is guaranteed to sell 20M+ every time. Can the same be said for other franchises? No. A yearly release would lead to a much quicker fatigue and tank the brand.

Ubisoft at one point was pumping out AC every year and they revised their strategy, because the sales were falling.

Since it's owned by Microsoft and is funded by Microsoft, then it kinda is legit.

It's also Sony who makes destiny and marathon now.
Bungie is just a sub company.
 
The number of studios developing Call of Duty is extremely high. Plus, for some reason, people are dumb enough to buy the same game every year just because it's called Call of Duty.
 
First thing - it's not Microsoft, it's Activision that made whole pipeline for this. MS only bought an well oiled maschine. How they will maintenance it is a completely different story.

Secondly, there are few studios that are working on one title for about three years each and they are releasing them year after year. On top of that there is a tone of outsource working for that. Those games are expensive to make. But they earn tremendous money to.

It's not something that was made in a year. It took them a lot of time to be in this place. And it can be destroyed by some bad decisions.
 
They have like 3 or 4 studios making COD. Campaigns aren't big as well. Also...MS? This has been in place since way before the acqusiition. It's how Activision worked before and probably why MS bought them in the first place.
 
Making a game with no ambition does not take long. It's just like Fifa and Madden, you change the assets, pay billions dollars to have a commercial with a celebrity and the last hyped rap song and you're good. Add some microtransactions for a trans flag costume and you're done.
 
They have something like 10 studios working on different parts of the game in isolation. Just have a look at the splash screen when the game starts.

Huge team, lots of teams.

Its not "a studio" that making CoD, CoD is just umbrella name
There are 4 main studios that making CoD (IW, Treyarh, Sledgehammer and Raven) that making CoD in turns - so technically it takes 4 years to make one.

As for why other not do it - it's a massive machine - along with support studios it's estimated to be 3000 people venture. It's big and many franchises will get exhausted quickly on yearly releases.

CoD by structure is more of GaaS game than normal SP game. And there is quite a few gaas games that do a yearly "releases" aka seasons or anniversary content patches

It's not one studio puting a new CoD out every single year.

They are on like a 4 year rotation of studios, so every studio puts one out like every 4 years.
 
I think eventually Microsoft want to be able push a button and get AI to create them a new Call of Duty game every six months instead of one every year. I honestly believe this is their ultimate ambition.
 
Call of Duty is basically a template at this point, they just throw a subtitle on it, give it a new story and make subtle changes to gameplay mechanics. They also have lots of studios working on one game at once. It's like a well oiled machine!

I'm not hating on it either, I've bought every entry aside from MWIII and find some fun in it every year.

The Teams each have 3 years to make each new game. That wasn't MS being smart, but a practice Activision's brought in years back

Oh dear, it's just going to increase with every new game.
Soon enough, most of it will just be AI slop. And the rest will be human made slop.
 
A) They literally don't. They have rotating teams making games.
B) It's the same shit every year. Making new maps is a hell of lot easier than making entirely new games. You might as well ask how FIFA or Madden get made every year.

Errrr, yes. I am talking about the fact that there is AI content in the game. What's your point?

Sorry, I missed that you highlighted alledged there. Yes, I know that there is definitely AI content in the game as per that disclosure I just forget for a moment there. I was also thinking about if the specific elements people have accused of being AI are the actualy AI assets in question.

Wish it was like that for Ratchet and Clank and Resident Evil. The latter is pretty fast but could be faster.

I wouldn't want stuff like Elder Scrolls, Half Life, GTA, and Fallout that fast cause those are meant to be enjoyable for years but Resident Evil and especially Ratchet and Clank are perfect for it.
 
You realize that they have several teams making games at the same time right OP? Each CoD takes several years to make. CoD's high yearly sales allow for multiple teams making multiple games simultaneously. Not many franchises could afford to do that.
