Why did Wii U not benefit from its portable mode?

I tried remote play just the other day. It sadly doesn't quite reach the master bedroom...Though the signal does have to travel through two concrete walls.

Is it not enough, considering, that many people play and sleep in the same room?

not at all, I have my consoles in my home office and take my portal all around the 2 story house, a house made completely of concrete, mind you. So no, its not enough and the console is not portable.

It was basically just a “share the tv” mode with how close you had to be and most people don’t have to share the tv. I’m not even on the same floor of my house with the Portal.

I was 20+ miles away from my house the other day, and was still using my Portal (first time testing it that way). It worked great for me. Next week I am going to try when I am on vacation, and see how well it will work. I doubt it will be as good, due to hotel wifi, but worth the experiment. Slower, turn-based games, will probably work with no issue.

For the OP: you could not do that with WiiU. You were limited by the radio signal the WiiU transmitted. It was not over your network.

you might want to do the port forwarding if you haven't already. look it up on youtube. I've used mine an 8 hour drive away. Worked well.
