Geez, what the fuck is in the water over there at DC?

Edit:
you know what, it's not just the Bruce/Barbara relationship, it's the entire violence into sex trope that takes it right over the top into creepy land. Fuck.
Yeah it's gross. Just completely unnecessary. But hey if there's a female character in this "mature" cartoon we gotta have a sex scene.

The article says the movie is a "too faithful" adaptation...but the very first negative thing they mention is something that was 1000% NOT in the original comic.
It completely alters Batman's motivation; now he's also going after the Joker because Joker messed with his Sidekick with Benefits. If they're going to add a scene to make Barbara getting shot hurt more, than give us something that shows us her relationship with her dad. It makes zero sense in a movie that was supposed to be this faithful adaptation of a highly revered story. Stop trying to make Barbara and Bruce happen, it's gross and now it's spread to the Killing Joke of all things.

EDIT: Plus, the original Killing Joke already has issues nowadays with its implied sexual violence against Barbara and using her only as motivation for the male characters.
Then they turn around and give her a sex scene in the animated adaptation with her dad's friend. You know, because Bruce needs more motivation.

People were already pissed about Killing Joke being cannon and now this. The think pieces and articles with be plentiful. There's going to be a major PR campaign after this.

Manga/ Anime series, I personally found it kinda boring now why is it mentioned in the thread:

The guy named is Daikichi or something, his grandpa died and left this little girl who is belived to be his daughter. No one in the family wants to raise her but Dai grows up and adapts her and they live together for 10 years as father and daughter

10 years later, when she is a teen she develops a crush on Daikichi, but since she is his aunt they can't be together. Through a bunch of contrived horseshit we find out they are not related by blood and they have a relationship at the end, ignoring they fact Dai known her since before she started school and they been father and daughter for 10+ years.

Oh and she wants to have a kid with him and raise it just like Dai raised her
Yo bro I don't remember this in the anime...

How can it be canon? Batman
killed the Joker
at the end.

After Norman x Gwen nothing phases me anymore.

Pretty much. That and Terra/Slade is just fuckery. These middle-aged men need to stop self-inserting themselves into stories.

But this Bruce/Babs thing is still incredibly shit though considering it's 2 heroes involved and the power dynamic is extremely fucked and it's seemingly 1 guy who's trying to push this twisted relationship into the mainstream. This adaptation absolutely did not need that shit in it. I think I might skip out now.

Ugh, this so bad then the twins had to come in.

Bruce Timm really wanted this to happen it seems.

Is anyone else as gung-ho about it as he is?

Maybe thats why he likes it so much since its mostly a unique relationship to his work and not normal Bruce and Selina/Talia.
WW and Bruce wasn't as uniquely his and is a hard sell outside of Justice League settings.

Paper or plastic?
Gross and dumb. One aspect of Timm's interpretations I've always found disturbing. Oh and he couldn't have picked a more inappropriate vehicle for this nonsense too.

Sort of pertinent, but I designed a house for a couple with an odd history. He was about 60 and she was about 35 and was childhood friends with his son growing up.

He babysat her and changed her diapers occassionally.

Now, I don't think Bruce ever put a bat-diaper on baby Barbara, but...that's what Bruce-Barbara reminds me of.

In real life its weird and gross but honestly it isn't a huge deal to me in the universe it was initially referenced in.(comics made it especially weird with the pregnancy thing)

Just going by Amanda Waller in Batman Beyond she is pushing that Bruce is like the best human around so its no wonder someone like Barbara could fall in love with him especially with their shared interest and spending time together like every single night.

On Bruce he is an emotionally damaged person, and Beyond showd us it lasts nearly all the way to his end with no hope in that department.
and the relationship doesn't work for the same reason that Bruce actually went with it, he is a seriously fucked up dude all the way to the end.

Honestly as much as I love BTAS I don't enjoy that aspect much anymore, he just got colder and colder and there was literally no hope for him anymore.
Though at the same time this

Is Batman at his absolute best to me.

And here I was, looking forward to
Barbara's actually-a-character-here prologue in TKJ
. Who allowed this?!

Personally you don't fuck your friends kids. Simple as that. Even if Gordan was significantly older and Barbara was Bruce's age, it still would be wrong in my view.

Yeah later DCAU Batman feels noticeably colder and more detached than early TAS Batman. But that's a minor complaint I have with Timm's Batman, at most. The "trying to make Bruce x Barbara happen" stuff is a major issue I have.
