It's clearly one of the biggest fan favourites and THE most requested game for remastered/remake/sequel on PlayStation, and yet so far after 10 years it's nothing. ZERO! news from Sony

And now Nintendo has swooped in and courted From Soft for what is literally Bloodborne 2 just with different name, Duskbloods

What is Sony doing??? Why have they abandoned Bloodborne brand?

It's Demons Souls all over again, they just won't ever learn.
 
Because its created by Fromsoftware. They want to create a game and expect people to praise them, not From. Also, the direction they are moving its different from that time.

This is the biggest fuck up by Sony. Probably an all time biggest fuck up. They have been investing literally hundreds of millions in Fromsoft. But refusing to order a sequel to the most requested game from their fan.

Then Nintendo comes in and literally has them do a spiritual sequel with blood in the title.

Herman needs to resign. This is like letting your wife get fucked up your school bully then being forced to raise his bastard son.
 
I couldn't care less if it was on the Switch 2 or PS5 or whatever. I'm just stoked we're getting a new From game, and one that seems Bloodborne-adjacent!

I'd say the handling of Demon Souls was the bigger fuckup.
 
I'm a bit depressed that Sony is not pushing another bloodborne but happy that I'll have the chance to play on the Switch2... But that would have been glorious on a PS5 Pro....
 
When they closed Japan Studios they lost the source code and literally have no idea what to do so they're just ignoring the IP hoping that people eventually stop talking about it.

the multiplayer part is probably just like other Souls' games co-op/invasion, but it will be primarily single player game

Starting to think the theory of them losing the source code might be true, but if they never do it at least it will eventually run at higher resolution/frame-rate with ShadPS4 emulation.

You literally don't have any source on that. But what we do have, is this tweet putting emphasis into it being a multiplayer game.

What can I expect from you, though? The fact that this was the first thing that came into your mind speaks a lot. Thoughts on From Software owning the IP?

I guess Fromsoft got tired of developing stuff for tired old consoles and now Nintendo provided them with some real power.

For real. Every decision has been awful this generation.

1. The obsession with live service games that either bomb immediately or get shit canned before release has crippled their first party studios' output.

2. The obsession with making Horizon a major franchise has not resulted in any huge success stories. Horizon continues to get blown out of the water by its competitors.

3. PSVR2 being more expensive than the console to which it is attached, figuratively and literally. And it also lacked backwards compatibility and was then abandoned basically a year later.

4. A $200 pro controller.

5. No reduction in price for the base console. In fact, price increases in some regions.

6. An $800 pro console that doesn't include a disc drive or a stand, and offers marginal at best improvements over the base console.

When is this going to end? They need to get their asses kicked badly.

Miyazaki said he didn't see the point of a Bloodborne remaster or remake now, that made more sense to wait another generation, as happened with Demon's Souls. So pretty likely may be coming (plus the PC port) on the PS6 release window (so maybe late 2027/early 2028).

Regarding adaptations, when Sony got a portion of FromSoft mentioned that their collaborations would go beyond games (movies, anime...), something mentioned in the Kadokawa shares acquisitions by Sony. Pretty likely out of different adaptations of FromSoft stuff that are coming Bloodborne may be one of them.

Regarding the sequel, FromSoft works in multiple games. Considering their partership with Sony, pretty likely are working on it.

Sony was saved by its loyal and patient fans including me. I'm not happy with lack of exclusives from especially RPG from Japan. But I'm satisfied with my base Ps5, it is a good console and those with Ps5 pro are luck with technology they have and its future proof with pssr ml. But there is 4 more years for Ps5 before Ps6 and with new leadership and new direction going back to its roots which is single player exclusives, I'm sure everything will be fine again.

I certainly hope so, but everything we've seen of arrogant Sony in the past indicates that they won't change their approach until one of their competitors really gives them a run for their money. And that's not likely to happen because (a) Nintendo runs their own race and doesn't try to directly compete and (b) M$ has spent themselves into such a large hole due to them losing money on Game Pass and the attempts to acquire publishers to provide content to Game Pass, that they're basically resigned themselves to being a glorified third party publisher.

Sony is very clearly not calling the shots with FromSoft. I don't see why people don't get this.

You think Sony is watching them launch a live service Bloodborne on the Switch and thinking about how great that is?
 
Cause the game didn't actually sell that well and most players bought it on sale or got it from PS Plus?
I've never heard the name Bloodborne mentioned in real life, have you? There you have it.

Fair point. But Elden Ring sold, what, 20+ million copies? Seems to me that Sony is missing out on doing a remaster or a sequel and to help market either or both, they could easily include "from the studio behind Elden Ring...".

Sure, and they probably consider it.
But they don't have the source code, and From basically hasn't touched the code since release.
It means a full remaster is needed, which is expensive.
People complain a lot about Sonys first party remasters, but those are probably so cheap to do that its impossible not to profit from it.

I mean, Shu was quoted as saying they didn't care about AA games. After Astro Bot's success, that may change, but Sony is a big ship and it takes time to turn. Hopefully a new Bloodborne is back in discussions at least.
