The DVD-rom flash for Xbox 360 hasn't hurt it's tie ratios.

Then again, Live is awesome, gamerscore e-peen, and fear of voiding the RRoD warranty are probably what's stopping most people from pirating 360 games.

I'd never dare mod a console it costs more than £50 to replace. Not worth the risk to me. I'd rather import a new one.

Can someone please just tell me why, why, why is it so important to get Linux to run on everything?

Because there are people (I am one of them) that believe you should be free to do whatever you want with electronic equipment that you own. That includes the freedom to modify and run your own software on it.

If the platform denies you that right, the most fundamental way to enable it is to get an OS running on it.

Of course, of the people that know how to do that kind of thing, it's a bragging right to be the first to figure it out.

It's bad enough for me, I have a US Wii in the UK. If anything happens to it I think I'm completely out of luck. I can't imagine NOA or NOE helping me get my 30-odd VC titles back.

and a converter that converts Gamecube Dol files into Elf for usage on the Wii (Which opens up a multitude of emulators and homebrew games and applications).

Waaait does that mean that we can now boot some GC games on the Wii or what? If thats true then sign me up for the mod train.

Just get a modchip to get region free stuff. Region free gamecube games and about 70% region free Wii games.

Or not. I don't want to go through the hassle of modding my Wii, especially as I've already had problems with mine before. I'll wait to see if an easier method comes along.
