Wii Screen Shot Thread (56k no)

Woah, that winter sports game looks great. Jenga looks like an impressive 20-30 dollar buy. Band of Brothers look awful, why port? why?

Verdict?
No More Heroes wins.

I was interested too, so I investigated. Those are Wii shots. They don't make games for other consoles (other than the DS). BUT!! They did make Ninjabread Man, so temper your expectations immediately.

Wow, if the graphics turn out super awesome and the gameplay isn't too bad..

talk about a way to redeem yourself.

Looks like I should get some knives and fork ready.

Billy the Wizard

You know, I've never played one of their games, but they have some pretty great character designers. I'm sure this is all trash though. If not, consider me excited.

there's no fucking way they're making games that look this good and not a fuckin one of us have seen or played any of them. Billy the Wizard has to all be FMV or something. What are we missing here?

or could these be real?!

It’s just another day in Lonropia and Kari, an apprentice magician, decides to summon up some of her favorite treat: Takoyaki! But instead of delicious Takoyaki appearing, a shower of colored Ocotpi rain down from the sky.

A guardian angel appears and informs Kari that she must rid Lonropia of the Octopi. Now she must embark on a journey to find the prince Exaultus. Surely he will know what to do!

Hurry up and rid your screen of Octopi before your enemy beats you to it! Line up your Octopi in groups under the Octo-nets and watch them disappear! Line up as as you can and create a massive chain.

Pull off a giant chain and cripple your opponent with a nasty Sea Urchin attack! Clear your screen of Octopi as quickly as you can to win the game!

I like the art for Cocoto Magic circus.

Also, WOW at chocobo! Even Oppona looks really, really good. If that's what the Wii can do all generation, I'm not complaining.

yeah me too. it's like Yoshi's Island meets Halloween Duck Hunt or something.

Word of warning to the people getting excited about CONSPIRACY ENTERTAINMENT games: these are must rent first type games. The videos on their site look nothing like these screen shots. Check out the Billy the Wizard one. Standard early PS2 fare.

That being said, somebody that works for them is a fucking fantastic artist. I especially like their color choices on their box art. They're doing a great job so far, even if most of their games look like above average shovelware. What we need to see now is some of these ideas fully fleshed out with attention to details, textures, and really great game play and control.

We're watching you, CE. Make great games and get our money. Make bullshit and be the laughing stock of the internet.

Reminds me of LBP. Too bad they aren't copying that game.
Yeah, it does. Couple that with SMG physics, LBP can be easily done on the Wii.

Oops, what did I just say? Hopefully, the topic is too boring that nobody else is reading this thread :lol

Yeah, I actually thought some of the art in those other shovelware title is above average. The people working on them should definitely have higher aspirations, they could do wonderful stuff with the right devs and right mentors.

A Puyo Puyo Ripoff, huh? The artwork agrees with me somewhat (despite the shot of the blue thing with the strange eyes in your post). The boxart is really nice, too.
We shall see how this pans out...

Props to their artist/chara designer/boxart designer by the way. Good work.

EA keeps catering for the PAL casual market on Wii..They should start to make some games for the US casuals. Even the US casuals are a bit hardcore.

I played Billy the Wizard about a year ago on PS2 (along with a stack of other Data Design games that are currently getting ported to Wii).. it's.. well, bloody awful. I guess those screens are from the PC version or something, but it looked terrible and you could pretty much count the frames as it chugged along. It got especially hilarious flying around outside, think GoldenEye multiplayer style frame rate action!

Wow! Another ancient port! Developers continue to shine on Wii! This was originally on PS2 and GameCube, PAL-only.. I think it had the honour of being the only light gun style game on GC.

Jesus, Wii is becoming a fucking dumping ground. I know Conspiracy and DSI etc. have been churning this shit out on PS2 for years, but on PS2 third parties actually turned out some decent stuff to make up for it. God 2008 better have some surprises.

It comes with the territory of being the number one console in the world.

Think of it this way: If you're a horrible developer and you know you can only sell to .5% of a particular audience, are you going to put your bullshit game on a system that takes a lot of money to develop for and has a lower install base, or are you going to take the easy route and put your game on the cheaper to develop for console with as big of a base as possible?

(.005% of 20 million is 100k)

Looking back, the NES, the GBA, and the PS2 were the three biggest software dumps of all time. It was really disgusting, honestly.

(.005% of 80 million is 400k)

But the Wii will get its share of good stuff too.

Like I said, I understand the reasoning behind it: flood the most popular system with as many cheap games as possible. It's just infuriating is all, since there's yet to be any sort of real counterbalance.

It could be because it's 3am here, but that really got me. Trauma Center is looking great. Love the artwork. Thanks for all the pics PantherLotus. Keep it up!
