Wii Screen Shot Thread (56k no)

Then QA could take over and release a couple of shots that actually suggest its on the Wii, no?

What the hell. What does QA have to do with releasing publicity shots? Blame Marketing.

February 2007 Releases

A small but significant month. Wii Play is the perfect demo (packaged with a controller, no less) that can show how the Wii might be used in future games. It should be noted that it is selling like mad in Japan, in the top 2-3 for the past month. Sonic should be a big title but Sega might have worn out his welcome by releasing a number of bad games with his name on the title in the past couple years. Word of mouth, excellent game play, and some great reviews would really help this title.

That said, it's slim pickin's for Wii owners right now. March is looking bigger and bigger.

The following is an organized look at the screenshots released over time for these titles. Each (#) represents a different post with screens for the game. Please note that these titles will be removed from the index at the end of the month.*

Prince of Persia: Rival Swords

Well I've been avoiding posting these because they just look so ****ing tacky with controllers pasted on there, like we're supposed to be able to tell wtf we're supposed to do with them. That being said, this game looks ****ing amazing and if they can nail the controls (ubi? can you?), Ubisoft might be looking at its first million seller (US) on the Wii.

Here goes:

Driver: Parallel Lines

Well this one looks too good to be on the Wii. Hopefully I'm wrong, but these look like bullshots. Then again, Red Steel did look pretty damn good and Ubisoft certainly seems to be coming around in the graphics department for the Wii...so...we'll just have to see. Until then, be content with what we have (and know that a GTA compiliation with Wiimote control tacked on would be completely possible!).

Release in March 2007.

Don't give me that, I know that the Wii can't do shaders because it doesn't use Direct X and whatnot, but that's really the only thing you can call them. That's why I used the quotation marks.

That looks really good.
Yeah, I wouldn't have believed that it was the Wii version if it weren't for the Nintendo Power watermarks. It looks really awesome. Still has some touching up that could be done though, some of those polygon edges are really jarring. That's kind of to be expected though, I'm assuming this game still has a lot of production left considering that the movie doesn't come out until Summer. That's a really good sign though, this game can only go up.

Now if only they can get the gameplay and controls to match the visuals.

You must have some really horrible orgasms. Have you ever tried copulating with another human being?

I heard somewhere that the word for orgasm in French means "the little death." Perhaps what Vong was awkwardly trying to say was that when he saw those screens he died a little inside.

You guys are insane. Now, I love my Wii more than any other current console, but to say "man I can't believe that's on Wii!!1" about any of these screens is ludicrous.

I mean seriously, that Ratatouille game wouldn't even be especially pretty if it were a Gamecube game.

Okay, then show me the licensed GC game that looks as good as that.

Uhhh... what? The environments in those screen have VERY simple geometry, everything, including character models looks extremely low poly. Sharp corners EVERYWHERE. There is nothing impressive about them.

Are we looking at the same screens? We're talking about the rat game, right?

Like I said, I don't CARE that some games have outdated graphics, I love my Wii. But it IS silly to sit and say "holy shit that looks amazing the Wii can do THAT?!"

Okay, so you can't show me the licensed GC game that looks as good. Cool.

You can't read either?

The reason the game looks impressive is not the geometry. The lighting is what is impressive.

Ha, the tiles do look good, but I think they're are tricking people into thinking that the rest of the shots look great.

The textures in this shot look blander than bland.

Edit: I'm going to bed, but to reiterate-- I don't give a shit if someone thinks some screens look good, the Rat shots look fine, but to say you can't believe it's a Wii game (as in, you would think only a PS3 or 360 could have possibly produced such dazzling shots!)... well that's just silly.

The log is bad but the background rocks and the water look quite good. They seem to have bump-mapping and specular, and the lighting is good all-around.

Is this really what folks have sunk to? Microscopically scrutinizing screenshots Winnie the Pooh to compare them against Ratatouille?

Wow, what? Branduil asked for a licensed game to compare to Ratatouille and I tried to provide him with one. I do think Ratatouille looks rather impressive, but my point is that kids games these days aren't the horrific looking shovelware like they used to be. Winnie the Pooh looked great and it was a really nice game for kids (not the 10 year olds who'd rather play GTA, but the 4 - 8 year olds you'd play a game with as a parent/nephew/babysitter)

Woah. That looks pretty damn impressive. This game probably looks great running.

Yes it did. I uploaded a trailer to youtube, if you're interested.

Hey bitches this isn't the "GAMECUBE screenshot thread" get that shit out of here. I'm all for discussion and comparison but cut that shit out.

Finally someone else took notice. I, for one, really liked to play Cars with my kids. A few missions were borderline nasty.

Well, that's cool.

edit for clarification: my curses are targeted towards WastingPenguins, not any of you others. :D

I don't see the big deal with Ratatouille... looks like an Xbox game imo. Wii should be more than capable of that.

DQ Swords is looking excellent as usual... BAM Bash looks fun actually, though who's developing it?

Wow at that dithering,

Hey, at least its not a bullshot, right?

It actually looks pretty damn good to me.

Medal of Honor: Vanguard

This is shaping quite nicely! The lighting this little machine is pulling off is awesome.
