So... I know everyone is here to discuss and speculate about what is coming for Wii U. What are the insides of the Wii U made up? And when is Miyamoto, Iwata and Reggie coming for all of us in order to ride their Train and end up crashing into the abysm of nothingness, you know fun things. But,

- Who is planning on buying the Wii U?

- Why are you going to buy it? And if not, why not?

- What is your opinion about the console? What does it needs? What does it lack? What other information are you waiting Nintendo un unveil?

I'm not.

It's weaksauce and on par with 360 and doesn't have a high clocked CPU and its missing a direct port button for developers to use. It needs POWER and better online and a proper controller. It's a Dreamcast. RIP Nintendo. Nintendo should go third party.

Dito, let us pack our bags and move to iOS/Android gaming because its DAT FUTURE!

- Who is planning on buying the Wii U?

Of course I am.

- Why are you going to buy it? And if not, why not?

I'm buying it because the Wii U is launching with games I want to play. Additionally, it seems like a really neat piece of tech that I will enjoy for years to come, much like I've done with every single Nintendo console before this.

- What is your opinion about the console? What does it needs? What does it lack? What other information are you waiting Nintendo un unveil?

I like the Wii U despite the lackluster E3 showing. However, the Wii U still needs a game with a "wow factor", something that shows us what the system is truly capable of. I'm sure we'll see something like this within the next 6 months, if not at the fall conference.

- Who is planning on buying the Wii U?

Pre-Ordered at Amazon.de on June 20th

Remember: this was shortly after E3 2012. Which brings us to the next question..

- Why are you going to buy it? And if not, why not?

Because Nintendo is unlike any videogame company. Their design philosophy is what inspired me to become a possible game designer on my own. I love how they put gaming itself above anything despite any trends. You buying a Nintendo product means that you buy a videogame device, not a multimedia thingy.

I see Nintendo hardware as investment in the future because they deliver at least 1 or 2 videogame masterpieces every hardware generation. This is their biggest weapon: their incredible iconic franchises.

- What is your opinion about the console? What does it needs? What does it lack? What other information are you waiting Nintendo un unveil?

Well, I like the Wii U and I couldn't give less of a fuck about its power - but it would have been incredible if it supportet 4 Gamepads in my opinion. Imagine playing a co-op game with your friends in the same room, everybody with their own screen and.. man, that would have been really cool and the only reason where I would agree that more power is necessary.

And if visuals are so important to you - buy a fucking PC you idiot. Seriously. Doesn't cost much and the leap will blow your fucking mind.

Online features.. mhm. Nintendo and online :lol
They should put stuff like leaderboards and shit into games like NSMBU, but other than that I don't expect much of them. Miiverse is really interesting though and I can see it being a killer feature; they basically built their own Twitter and it would be cool if you could access it from 3DS as well as from smartphones.
I will probably stick to my 720/PS4 when it comes to competitive online play.

---

I love all the big three in some ways; I love Microsoft and Sony and own all their devices, but Nintendo will always have a special place in my heart because they are Nintendo; crazy dudes who make insane decisions and genius games :lol

- Day 1
(If Nintendo gives me enough warning of how much to put away for it and a date soon)

- I am hoping for a Xenoblade quality JRPG / I am already sold on DQX for Wii U - there are plenty of other game to make this a must have purchase for me.

- My rage for the Wii U knows no limits, Nintendo's secrecy has frustrated me to no end. I seriously resent them and I believe by early 2014 this console will have some great games to offer but still the weakest by for of Next Gen. That is what I have accepted.

I am hoping Nintendo goes on a hype Blitz from this week to launch with some surprises that makes up for the shit that was E3 2012 - I am also hoping they find a way to code that old Wii games can stream on the gamepad for off TV play. Xenoblade in bed :3

I am planning to buy a Wii U, but I am not planning to buy one at or near launch.

I think that $300 is far too expensive for a game device.

I think that $250 is a little too expensive for my tastes but I'd bite if the pack-in was good.

It's possible to shift my opinion, but my interest has to be earned with either mindblowing features that I could barely imagine on my own or with titles so staggeringly great that I cannot wait for the console to drop in price. As I'd said before, something crazy like electrostatic haptics would have pulled me in at any price
not exceeding $350
, and a solid local multiplayer game with freely tradeable user content (like a new TimeSplitters) would have gotten me to pony up some extra clam.

Toilet console gaming is a nice hook, but it's not one that makes me willing to spend more on a new console than I was willing to last generation. And my friends are incredibly set in their ways, so there's no real possibility of getting them interested enough in asymmetric multiplayer games to justify the purchase.

I still think that Nintendo's strategy with regards to downloadable retail games would make a fully discless, $250 sku possible. I would go for that, but since we've not heard of anything like that happening, my consumer mode is currently deactivated.

I am going to buy it but haven't decided when. I need to know the price and the final list of launch games before I decide on when. I think what it does lack as of right now is 3rd party support. It could be better but it also could be worse.

There's a major disconnect with the separate screens vs the handhelds.  With the DS/3DS they're right next to each other and both screens are more or less within view of each other when playing, which is why games that span the screens work ok.  With the Wii U you can completely lose sight of the other screen unless you're holding the controller up, and even then there's still a matter of completely different focal distance (...slightly negated if you only have one eye).

Wow. The focal distance one is a very educated tought. There is likely to be a significant difference betwen DS line an Wii U, and while I guess our eyes will get used to it with time there will always be a difference wich would be even more noticeable with tired eyes. At least we will excercise our eyes more than if we were only watching the TV

I'm planning to buy it. I buy almost every console, so...plus I love Nintendo titles (not only the trinit zelda-mario-metroid, but also for example Fire emblem) and I love to have something new-different to play with (this is the main reason I loved the DS and the Wii, for example) also for third party titles.
I'm not still sure about the purhcse period: at launch? could be with the right price, because there are a lot of games for the launch period that interest me. but the lack of future-vision scares me, because I'd like to avoid month of emtpiness between one game and another.

wow it's heated around here °_°

Just a notice: prepare some clean footage of third-parties builds from E3 (and also Comicon) to compare them with what we'll see at Gamescom in a few days :)

I declare open the UHPUTWUL* (pronounced YouPouteWoule) !!!

I'll be taking as much pictures and video I can from Ubisofts WiiU offerings. Ubisoft was very nice last year, they let me film a complete match of GRFS.

I'll take requests^^

I think he means "in addition".

I've heard the same thing a bunch of times "oh, this game didn't *need* a PC port..." Usually because they assume (a) can't sit on couch, (b) hate for mouse/keyboard controls, or disbelief that somebody would actually use a gamepad on PC, or (c) assuming sales will be worse on PC than the console versions (usually true probably), or (d) some combination of a, b, and c.

Why would anyone care if a game also comes to a platform not of their choice? The more, the merrier as far as I'm concerned.

I saw this on Gamefaq
Don't judge me lol
about this guy's predication about the 8th generation...Lets just hope none of it comes the way he thinks it might be.

That sounds like the Mayan Calendar of video game predictions.

This is, without a doubt, the most in-depth and detailed Gamefaqs rationalization for why Nintendo is going 3rd party I have ever fucking seen.

Note, however, that it only requires the utter destruction of the entire video game industry for it to happen.

Even when Iwata cries, he laughs.

Pretty much when I read it I was like seriously?, this would be a horrible future for games.

It also says Sony and Microsoft are going to be bankrupt.

It only proves some people want Nintendo to go 3rd party so bad, they'd rather the world burn to see it happen ;)

I will buy it, since it's still a Nintendo homeconsole, but I do not know when.
What it needs is system sellers, which it is completely lacking at this point. And despite some delusional believe that Nintendo Direct or the launch conference might bring several goods, I'm expecting nothing apart from more Nintendoland pushing. I've been through so many bullshit PR statements and annoyances when it comes to Nintendo, all I see right now is every sign pointing towards a drought. Which is pretty fucking unacceptable at the very beginning of the consoles lifecycle that will not even see a fullfledged Nintendo must-have game yet. (Built from the ground up for WiiU, unlike P3)
There's some nice-to-have titles that I would surely pick up if I already had the console, but it lacks a couple of ,,bombs'' that get the console into my home in the first place, anything that gives me confidence in the WiiUs future or tells me that Nintendos next generation has arrived and hence deserves a 300€ buy. Right now, it's the exact opposite.
All I can hope for currently is that they fall flat on their face with Wii Fit, Sing, Halfassed Warioware etc and get their shit together sooner than later. The partnership with Platinum is the only thing indicating that they might have not completely fucked up.

At the moment it's looking probable. All I need to seal the deal for me is that before launch we get announcements of some of the key third party western games.

- Why are you going to buy it? And if not, why not?

I want one console next generation if possible (Unlikely I'll spend the money on a second).
I like Zelda and Metroid.
I want third party western games.
I feel as far as gaming goes, I get real joy from Nintendo stuff. The other platforms I tend to find are a but more sterile.
I'm interested in the GamePad.

- What is your opinion about the console? What does it needs? What does it lack? What other information are you waiting Nintendo un unveil?[/B]

As mentioned I want more Western third party support.
I don't want my account tied to a console so if it dies I lose stuff.
I want more grunt in my console but I'll live with how it's panning out.
I want to know about the OS and how all that stuff works.

On my friend's PS2 and Xbox 360 games, I occasionally (much more than I should have to) look down to check and see which buttons are which and then back at the screen. This takes a fraction of a second. I don't think it will be any more difficult to do so with the GamePad, and I suspect it's less much annoying when the reason for looking down is a bit more valid or practical (double-checking which letters are where for a QTE is a really annoying reason to do so; that's one of the things that makes me not a big fan of that particular mechanic).

1) I am, on launch.

2) I'm buying it ON LAUNCH because it will highly benefit my YouTube channel. New console equals a new opportunity for subscribers and views. That's not to say I wouldn't normally buy it, because of course I would being a Nintendo fan and all, but if it weren't for my channel, I wouldn't be buying it at launch. But yea, people will be on the internet looking for Wii U info and videos and footage and such, so I'll definitely be hopping on this opportunity.

3) I think it's fine. The only thing I want is a HDD, although, Nintendo hasn't said that they wouldn't launch a model that does have an HDD so it's still a possibility, maybe. Pretty much, all I want is some information on Nintendo Network and console features. Things like, will it have cross-game chat? What does the friends-list look like?

I'm highly disappointed that they didn't show the operating system or anything like that at E3. The only thing we've seen is Miiverse.

But when does the vitality sensor come out!?

It will be packaged in with every copy of Half-Life 3: Episode 5 3/10 - The Legend of Lamar, for the Wii 3, Windows Fart, Apple Orange, and Linux Newell. It'll be the last game released for Wii 3 and consoles in general, Spring 2025. D:

I really think we'll be seeing a head-mounted display before the end of this coming gen. Then again, I've been known to get ahead of myself with my predictions.

I don't think there's too much more to it than Call of Duty until launch. Activision also has always been extremely silent on the Wii versions, but other than that I don't believe there's still any NDA holding back some key-title port announcements, especially since WB has already started to announce their shovelware out of nowhere. Then there was also Reggies statement ,,lolol with titles like Batman I will build an install base that will automatically attract other 3rd parties''
At best, I'd hope that Iwata has further strengthened Japanese relationships and perhaps gathered even more exclusive projects like P-100. Pretty much the best and only thing I could imagine happening at the september conference.

Doomed, doomed, we're all FUCKEN doomed!

Getting sick of this shit. Negativity gets hits I guess.

I guess it's time to let HylianTom out of my basement since MDX did leak something. Go along now Tom, you are free. You too monkey, get out of here, no more cookies for you goddamit!

I hope I can get some good off screen footage of Zombi U and Rayman Legends. I'm going to test the analog sticks and how they compare to other controllers. Does anyone know if Batman Arkham City is also there for WiiU?

Nintendo renames the Nintendo Direct to "Nintendo Doom" and announces what bombs it will drop to wreak the doom upon civilization. Muahahahah.

Watch them announce Nintendo Direct during Sony's conference. I remember they announced the Wii global price drop and the New Super Mario Bros. Wii launch date in the middle of Sony's TGS Conference. :lol

Imagine this occurring simultaneously tomorrow:

Sony Gamescom:
This is the new PS3 model. Base model is $149.99.
Nintendo Direct:
Wii is now $79.99.

Sony Gamescom:
Lets look at some Vita games.
Nintendo Direct:
LOOK AT ALL THESE 3DS TITLES COMING BEFORE THE YEAR IS OUT.

Sony Gamescom:
The Future of PlayStation is bright.
Nintendo Direct:
Preorders start now.

I'm still mad at Nintendo for not celebrating Metroid's 25th anniversary :(
Hopefully, they celebrate her 30th one in 2016.

btw... I saw a S&SASRT Wii U cover (fake of course) and that shit looks amazing!
The more I think about it, the more I think Nintendo nailed it this time with the boxart.

I have yet to see a game cover that looks bad with the Wii U template :p

edit: here..
it is like they were born to be together lol
