The whole point of the article is to get clicks. He won't change it until it's already done the circulation around the internet.

It annoys me that people with sites think they have all the power, maybe I should make a website and spread lies about the PS4 and Xbox 720 and see how much people believe me lol.

Eurogamer have been lying about all sorts of news articles for years. Wii U isn't the only victim, just the latest one.

This is probably the 20th time eurogamer have deliberately quoted some wii u dev out of context to say "wii .... ..... is on ....... [p.....ar] .... with ......... XBox 360 and ...... [PS3]".

Selective quotes work wonders when your revenue model is based on hit counters.

I read that one of Castlevania LOS 2 guys said on twitter its not coming to the WiiU since it has Zero install base. LOL I dare a dev say that about the 720 or the PS4, Our game is coming to the WiiU since 720 and PS4 has zero install base, never gonna happen.

Good points Rosit on the Gamestop event, I could see Nintendo having the Nintendo Direct next week, clearing up a lot of things before that event starts, it would be pretty bad for something big like that to happen and Gamestop still has no clue when they can start preorders. Hopefully we have price and release date by that time too, but hey also Nintendo of Japan could care less lol.

Not to mention they have been close lately......

It was also interesting when Iwata hinted strongly at an investor's meeting that all this rumour bullshit might be consider it business interference. I think he was not so subtly telling people to back off a bit.

I dont recall that, but at the moment, sites like eurogamer and gamesindustry etc are all running FUD campaigns. Whether they do it for someone else (less likely) or down to their own personal preferences (more likely), it's obvious that there is more effort being put in to generate click revenue than there is to reporting accurately.

I personally don't care how powerful the Wii U is, but I do care about how accurately it is conveyed.

I find it funny that MS and Sony fans keep saying Wii U runs graphics from 2005, yet you don't see Nintendo fans bashing the other consoles when they implement primary controllers from ten years ago. :p

Well journalists at least no one is pulling the bullshit weaker card anymore. What I find frustrating is many people's wishes that Wii U to be on par with the current gen just so it won't be competition to the other two. On the same side I see a lot of Nintendo fans who hope the PS4/720 are weak just so they don't overshadow Wii U. Why can't people just enjoy things as they come?

Likewise.

OK I think I mis-remembered and Iwata was talking about games, but here it is anyway.

The quote from Iwata in an answer to question #4 from an investor

Iwata said:
In addition, there have recently been negative campaigns on the Internet in which false opinions are deliberately posted to ruin the reputation of a product. Such vicious rumors are a big problem and could be considered business interference.

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.

It's almost like GamesIndustry is part of the Eurogamer network....
It is.

It means nothing, it could only be Nintendo revealing obvious things like system price, launch date, OS, Miiverse and stuff like that, I doubt that we are going to get "real" news as new game development, MH5 or some other megaton.

we know zero about the miyamoto and the retro studios game. and do you remember how fast they pulled off the the mario tennis game?

i wouldnt put up my hopes too high, but here is definetly room for possibilities....

Did they really not forsee this by having every title at launch be a Wii port, current gen port or low cost?

Well Nintendo was in a rush to get Wii U out before the other consoles to give them a head start. I would wait until they have their September showing to see games that are actually not in the launch window.

You think they're gonna show games beyond the launch window in September? I don't recall them doing that at the September 2006 press conference... just playable builds of the launch games, price, date and we finally saw the Wii menu screen.

I hope we don't have to wait til E3 for more game announcements.

Of course they are. They aren't going to leave the Wii U floating around in limbo from post launch window to E3. Wii already had Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy annonced for late 2007 anyway at E3 2006 so you can't compare Wii U to Wii at this point. Look at Nintendo's lineup. They have literally not announced a single game coming to the system outside of the launch window. I imagine we'll actually see a lot of games announced at the September conference, probably even EAD Tokyo's or Retro's new game, possibly even a brief glimpse at Smash.

Iwata specifically said they would.

Iwata said:
Finally, another issue is that the visibility of the future software lineup is unclear. During E3, titles for the overseas markets were highlighted and the titles we introduced then were only the ones to be available at the launch time and within the launch window period, which might make you wonder, “What will become of the software in the next year?”

It is our intention to convey a strong message this fall with the information about the price and the launch date and then to create momentum good enough to convince our consumers to buy (the Wii U), but currently, there must be some concerns. Overall, we believe that the current share price has been determined based on what I mentioned today. In the near term, with the introduction of the Nintendo 3DS XL followed by new software titles in July and August, the most important issue is to what degree we can change the business momentum of the Nintendo 3DS in the world. Then, subsequently, when we launch the Wii U, we intend to announce the next step by saying what will happen in the future, and by doing this, we would like to change the evaluation in the market.

Do you think Pikmin 3 and P-100 will be out before 2013? I can see them stretching the already announced games from November to E3. Then we get 3D Mario and Smash Bros.

It's not entirely unlike Nintendo to have a nasty dry spell post launch window...

pikmin 3's been done for at least a year. no point in them sitting on it when the best chance it has to sell is at launch.

Pikmin 3 yes. P-100 I would guess is probably January.

True.

I'm assuming NSMB U will sell out relatively quickly, leaving millions of soccer moms with no other choice but to pick up a Wii U with Pikmin 3 for little Jimmy.

Yeah, well he acknowledges the problem that nothing beyond launch window is known, but also says that he apparently wants to focus only on launch regardless and reveal future plans not until the console is already out. So, doesn't really sound like september...

That's what I've been thinking too. Would be typical for them to delay several projects deep into 2013, with no new announcements until next E3. Their ridiculous launch window is constantly growing anyway. I remember some Nintendo statement that they are preparing their batch of next year holiday games as their next step already, so I'm not hopeful. Although I'd love to be proven wrong, because going straight into a drought before even revealing a couple of fullfledged games specifially made for the system would be laughable and embarrassing on a new level.
And since the literal worst case scenario has already occured at this E3, I wouldn't be surprised if they'd try to compensate launch buyers next time with some low budget looking Mario Kart, since they are apparently having serious trouble with HD development or are beyond arrogant at this point. Then Reggies gonna act all baffled that launch buyers would be pissed, lol.
Though I should hold off some final judgement, since people are for some reason still hopeful for Nintendo Direct and the launch event (which sucked for 3DS btw) to redeem this mess.

actually the next closest thing would be nintendo land or rayman legends or rabbids land.

It's a game. Easy to print. It won't be sold out; if it is sold out, it'll be restocked with plenty of games within a week. Happened with NSMBWii.

Plus, chances are good that this one could be a downloadable title, if I'm not mistaken. So stock is somewhat irrelevant as they could even just advertise the game's availability online, or sell download cards at stores.

Then hopefully when they set up the Wii U they'll figure out that they can buy the game on eShop, or at least the clerk at the store might tell them.

Guys, I'm scared I might not be able to get Wii U at launch. I'm planning on preordering at BestBuy. Would I have to wait in a line in the morning for the preorder the day it opens? Would it be sold out fast?

I'm scared of another Wii repeat, except this time I don't have time to call all the local stores every day like I did when I was like 11.

2006 they had already shown Wii games for the next year at E3, and plus Iwata said they will announce new titles for 2013

As for Pikmin 3, if WiiU is out in Oct I think it will be the Nov 18th game while NSMBU will be at launch
If WiiU is out on Nov 18th I think Pikmin will come in Dec sometime before Christmas, I doubt it slips to 2013

Yeah, I think I did one too many. Oh well. Hopefully it'll die an early death.

The other thread should of never been made in the first place, I wish Iwata would come out and be like...

"YOU KNOW WHAT!?, HERE ARE THE FREAKING SPECS, SERIOUSLY NOW I WON'T HAVE TO GET EMAILS ANYMORE ASKING HOW POWERFUL THE WII U IS!!!"

Lol.

SiNG?.

Safest bet is to line up outside your local Best Buy 12 hours before it opens on launch day.
