Ugh, stay away from the quantum leap thread guys. Bananas, I say. Bananas!
They are all saying the launch games of PS4 and Xbox 720 will blow away PS3 and Xbox 360...

I wasn't being defensive I was actually saying indie developers don't care as much as power as other developers but more for what the console can do, that's just how I see it though.
I don't think all indie developers think that way, and you can't just assume they don't care. To be honest I think people shouldn't make groups of things and assume everything there works the same way and then use that to justify something.
Well, that is true, but the Dreamcast took a part in it, no?
Anyway, I'm just happy we'll still have some competition around.
I don't think all of them do I just think a lot of them do.
And it's NeoGAF, the place of assuming.
Yeah, but assuming things that way is what makes some people from the quantum leap thread so stubborn. Everyone thinks he knows better. Don't know, people these days love to complain about everything. I mean, why just not sit and enjoy the game? It's like they think everyone could actually be a reviwer.

Lots of people are assuming that Xbox 720 and PS4 launch games will look as good as Star Wars 1313, I feel people might be disappointed.
I don't know, I think their games are going to look really good, yes even at launch. And even ignoring the "power" of these next systems I think there is an important factor being ignored... and that's money. Part of the reason that WiiU launch games don't look necessarily mind blowing is due to the fact that none of the games have huge "AAA" budgets, nor a lot of development resources. Most ports are being outsourced from the original game teams. Sony and Microsoft highly value the advancement of graphics and I'm sure they are going to sink a ton of money and resources into their first party launch games to demonstrate this. They both already have excellent relations to third parties, and I have this feeling... that... I don't know... 3rd party publishers are going to dump a lot more money into developing titles for it. So to sum it up, there is a lot more to consider than just the hardware itself. There is a lot of business going on here. Yes Wii U is going to be more powerful than 360/PS3, we know this based on the probable amount of RAM alone. I'm just worried that not a lot of people will bother to push the system, besides Nintendo and even then they will probably only really push it with their big franchises.
I just hope it's not another disappointment...
It will be for some people.
Meelow, stop posting in the other thread. It's too much of a mess. You're not gonna win, man.
It will be for some people.
Are all the events on the same date?My hope is that we hear of some good, solid 3rd party titles from the Japanese event. I'm not expecting anything substantial from NYC, except maybe Black Ops 2.

Someone has recreated Blastoise using UE 3, Nintendo really need to do an HD Pokemon game IMO.
Edit beaten by a long shot, but still that looks amazing.

Keep those expectations in check, boys.
It would never look like that.
It look more like this:
I think expecting any significant new game reveals/announcements, beyond the predictable (eg: Black Ops 2), is letting expectations run out of control. At this stage in the pre-launch period a wise man will expect marketing and promotion, and take any big, new announcements as unexpected surprises.
Sometimes I feel some fans will be living on the verge of new game announcements for every Nintendo Direct and press events leading up to the Wii U's launch, and I think it is these people who will be most disappointed.
They likely meant "this holiday season" instead. I can swear the main ZombiU PR chick with Ubisoft has been pretty adamant about it being a launch game.
"PR chick" was one of the lead devs, by the way.

How they handle Pokemon is what has me hyped for the Wii U more then anything else, they have the power now to challenge the big console RPGs, and kick their arse basically.
Honest question what audience is Nintendo focusing on the Wii U, the core or casual, because I think it's Core with a little bit of casual.

You know, it isn't unreasonable to expect something big this September. A few months ago Iwata said that they would detail not only the launch games, but also some games slated for 2013. Either we'll get new announcements, Iwata is a liar, or he simply is referring to games we already know about that won't make the launch window.

Since I'm tired of the graphics debate right now, let me throw another discussion point into the pot:
What do you guys think about companion-apps/games?

Yes, from the Japan conference I agree. Nintendo has been virtually silent on the Wii U in Japan. It will be a blowout, and there has to be a number of Japanese developed games announced for the launch window- right now there are 3.
Yeah considering there only 3 Japanese games for the "launch window", which stretches well into 2013, a couple more titles being announced seems pretty realistic/feasible.
I doubt it will be pointless theres gonna be plenty to show. 1hour announcement of price? ok.Yes, the NoA event will be pointless, apart from price. Except for CoD we're done with major game announcements from Western 3rd parties for now and also with 1st party apparently. Most of the 2013 titles will be the same shit from E3, but delayed or simply at the end of this ,,launch window''.
Overall, a ridiculously terrible introduction of the new Nintendo home console, that isn't going to look too much better after the 13th, but maybe there's still some neat surprises among Iwatas Japanese announcements. I'd love to see Tales of U. PAL lands never got it back then, so I'm currently playing Tales of the Abyss for the first time and I'm enjoying it so much more than Xenoblade and Last Story.

Out of Nintendo and Sony who do you think will get better Japanese support next gen?.
