So audio via RCA cables to my receiver, will I get surround sound?
The page is just a glorified website anyways so the US update might not be until tomorrow.

For games that support Pro Logic, sure. So Wii games, and.. no Wii U games.
At least, I don't THINK any Wii U games support Pro Logic.

Oh, nice. The update apparently made it so that Wii VC games are displayed in the correct aspect ratio, rather than being stretched. Now I don't have to connect component cables and change the screen resolution just to fix that.

I'm quite happy with the gamepad streaming of Wii games. The picture is nicer than it appears on the tv, although it is still a bit blurry. Less lag than on the tv too, which is good since I picked rhythm heaven again.

Oh my gosh glorious keyboard support. Paired with a wireless keyboard, it's amazing. Wish there was mouse support though. (my keyboard has a touchpad for mouse movement)

TV was/ is on. I have edited my original post. It appears that the game pad can not be connected to the Wii U via the USB cable when you start off-screen play for Wii games... Or you must have the SD card slot empty or no game in the system. Not sure which one, but I'm betting it's the USB cable connected to the Wii U and game pad.

It seems only those in EU/AU get the new eshop tune. NA 's remains the same.
I'm in NA and def. had new music.
it would be just simulated surround not true surround sound. and yeah only on wii games unfortunately. But I'm glad they did this. Now I can at least have my audio going to my tv, and to my wireless surround sound headphones(but only stereo)
A lot of people have never had problems with netflix, I sure have not, so I dont know what the issue is there

It probably was your SD card. I was trying to run a mod for Brawl off my SD card and it crashed the game, even when I wasn't trying to load up the mod. Removing the SD card fixed it for me. Although it sucks, because my VC games are also on the SD card

I wonder if they have to pay for that license now that the system supports it. And it wont work on current games because they were not programmed for it. I wonder if new games can now take advantage of it. Or perhaps current library could get an update.

No, it is just for Wii Mode. Now in sound settings it clearly states that if your system does not support LPCM or something...you are basically screwed.
mine is fine, people usually only post about something if they have problems with it. Not saying it inst an issue though.
still wonder how the licensing works with that...

I stand corrected. =P NA too, just checked, and it indeed has the new tune. I guess some may have to check in after waiting a bit. I still had the old music right after updating.
Yea like majik13 said people post when they have issues, meaning it could be 80% working fine and 20% having issues.

Wow I just got the new music too, having had the original music after the upload earlier. Bitchin! I wonder if it alternates between the two? Or maybe based upon time of day? For some reason I can't see them just ditchin the old song entirely.
[Edit] Okay browsin the shop to this song is starting to put me into some kind of idyllic mental fantasy land. Nintendo why u do dis ;-;

im not trying to say it affects everyone. It just seems to pop up enough that it shouldn't be ignored. plus not everyone uses netflix on wii u. But the problem I had with pre update was on occasion (not all the time) nefflix freezes when trying to start up. The screen goes black. When this happens you have to hard reset the wii u. I seen plenty of people on forums including nintendo tech forums talk about this with no sure fix.
Im going to delete and redownload netflix right now because it just doesn't work at all.
edit: got it to work now. Just delete and reinstall.

I was super excited thinking I could play Xenoblade in bed. Well, I guess I can sort of, but where could I put the GamePad? I'll give it a shot but I'm not sure how it'll work out. It's better than nothing, I suppose.

Does the regular wii mote work? I only see people talking about the ccp. I had to google ccp to realize its classic controller pro. Any reason it has to be pro? Any advantages over the standard classic controller? Will the regular classic controller work?
The no gamepad buttons thing seems so ridiculous, do people assume they will fix that? This is a killer feature but having to use a controller gimps it.

Heh, that would be a neat thing to do. I wouldn't want 'em to ditch the old one entirely. While the new one sure is snazzy, the previous was quite nice as well.

Seems to Gamepad power button in Wii mode just sleeps the screen.
Messing with the Wii U today made me realize how short the gamepad's battery life is.
If they don't announce the battery pack during tomorrow's conference, I'll probably import it. (Youtube guy said it's fine on NA system.)

There are definitely OS speed improvements all around. It could still improve but it is vastly better than what it was like before.
yeah I only checked briefly and seems the system settings is a lot faster, at least existing it. That was the major one for me. Though I hardly ever go there.

I tried Skyward Sword not terrible by any means but it would probably require patching the game to use buttons.
