I don't think so. I was under the impression that they represented the most popular games/apps of Wii U's connected to the internet. Am I wrong?
I believe that is correct.

Yes it does. You can use that and use the gamepad screen at the same time. That's how I play
Has it been confirmed that you'll be able to play Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101 on the gamepad only?
My biggest fear going forward is that developers will underestimate how popular that feature is, and throw silly features into their games that prevent them from being played from the gamepad.

Pikmin 3 was played from the pad at E3. I'm pretty sure Wonderful 101 was played from the gamepad too because you had to draw circles using it. So unless they removed that function both games should use the gamepad.
I'm wanting to know if you can play those games from the gamepad exclusively. No tv involved.
Downloading the NBA2K13 Demo
I have not played my Wii U for a few days been hanging out on mangaGAF reading TWGOK to catch up so reading 200 chapter too a while.
Now I need something to play, getting back to my backlog and miiverse
first thing I did on Miiverse is report a penis drawing damn kids get off my Wii U![]()
This WiiU actually makes me feel like an idiot. There are really simple interface things from the Xbox 360 and the PS3 that I simply don't know how to do on the Wii U. I'm not necessarily knocking the system because I really dig it. However, there are annoying UI/interface quirks that I'm willing to plead ignorant to, provided they're my fault...
1. So I just bought COD: Blops 2 and it's fantastic on the WiiU. However, I just wanted to EXIT the game. That's it. Exit and eject. How on earth do you do that??
a. I hit the HOME button, which seems to work on every other Wii U game, but the "You no can do that icon" came up, stopping me cold. I backed out ALL the way to the main menu within BLOPS. Nothing.
b. against my inner gamer judgment, I simply ejected the disc, which promptly told me to re-insert the disc. Didn't think that would work, but what could I do? I re-inserted for fear of breaking the damn thing.
c. thinking of no other option, I simply turned the power off via the game pad. When I turned it back on, guess what? The Blops 2 game was STILL on.
d. So i reached behind my WiiU, which seems to be the only consistent way of solving problems with the system...and i pulled the plug. Upon restarting the game, I'm back at the real WiiU home screen, and finally ejected the disc.

It really shouldn't be this complicated. Any idea how I could've handled this differently?? I've owned nearly every gaming system since gaming systems began, and this is the first one that actually makes me feel incompetent. Suggestions?

This is apparently getting patched, but yes, the deactivation of the HOME button in BLOPs2 is maddening.

Option c. Should work - this turns the console off then on again - returning you to the main menu
It was the same in Wii versions of the COD games.
Is there any way to change the games tiles that show up in the plaza on your main home screen? I have a lot of games that I don't really want there that I would like to switch for others.

I'm hoping that over time it will just show the last 10 games you've played. I really don't like the idea of seeing games that aren't available in my region.
They are regionally sorted, no? I believe you can change your region, but don't quote me on that.
Possibly. I'm in Australia and see Trine 2 which I know is available in UK (PAL) and is not available here or in New Zealand (both PAL).
I also have that feeling tbh. I bought one of those new slim bundles around the same time as the Wii U and it feels way more modern than the Wii U. I've been playing Asura's Wrath, Vanquish, Bayonetta, and Persona 4: Arena on it. The games just seem more visually impressive (and have better production values), which is depressing as it came out the machine came out in 2006 and the Wii U is a product that just came out in 2012. It's honestly a similar feeling to playing my Gamecube while playing with an Xbox, the Xbox comes off as more technically impressive.i guess i am happy with it. But its is very odd that I feel my PS3 is more "new gen" than it. I can only imagine how Ill feel like when 720 and Orbis come out.
Managed to get a new premium Wii U for 225 pounds so I figured I'd ask a few questions.
In the european eShop, are there any demos of eShop and/or retail games?
NSMBU any good? Playing NSMB2 currently but I hear U is a lot better?
And ZombiU has been getting some mixed reviews so I don't know about that. Is the action any good or do I just smash my cricket bat again and again the whole game?

There are a few demos - ZombiU, NBA and Rayman, if I recall correctly.
ZombiU is excellent but don't expect an action game. It does not - deliberately so - empower you as a player. It is a survival horror game. The action is good though, incredibly tense, and you do get better weapons than the bat, though the bat will be used a lot throughout the game.
I guess someone here will know the answer to this, in Europe with the whole 11PM-3AM thing can you play games outside that time or do you have to play it inside that time as well as buy it in that time?
I'm always sleeping at that time![]()
That would be a plausible explanation if that same game did no run fine on less than .5G RAM elsewhere. I can't imagine it requiring more than 1G on the WiiU.if you have the home button activated that means wiiu can access to miiverse, youtube and the webbrowser while the game is being on hold. this functions uses up 1 GB of the RAM. maybe companies disabled this feature to be able to use the full 2GB?

Also, why the fuck is there no easy way to stream video and turn off the Wii U game pad screen. Why do I want to drain my pad's battery with just descriptions of the videos. It sucks when I want to watch hour+ long videos on it because then I worry the battery is going to die. Why can't I just use the Wii Remote for the Wii U video apps. Since I can't use any other controllers it totally removes any possibility of me using the Wii U as a streaming device. *sigh*.
I'm getting more disappointed every day. Pikmin 3 & Monster Hunter 3 can't come soon enough.
It's probably a lot faster to turn the console off then on again, but I usually go back to the main menu (where you can select multiplayer/campaign/zombies) then press the HOME button. Annoyingly and confusingly, to do this if you are in multiplayer, you have to select to go back to the "campaign" menu. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for the heads up. I thought it was me. Since the HOME button is deactivated until patch, how are people actually exiting the game currently?? I was on the MAIN MENU and the HOME button didn't work. Maybe I'll go into CAMPAIGN and try it from there.
Either way, thanks both of you.
I'm trying out the Zombi U demo and it didn't take me very long to adapt to having to switch from the TV view to the gamepad view. I guess all the hours spent on Nintendo Land do help with this after all. It has become just as natural for me as holding a classic controller or playing with a keyboard and a mouse.
I was also a bit anxious at first as I can be susceptible in motion sickness in games where you are in a succession of corridors especially if the fov is pretty low but so far so good. My guess is that the fact that the fov isn't too zoomed in so you're not staring at walls half of the time and the constant switching to the scan view helps a lot.
The demo is pretty good and has pretty much convinced me of buying the game. The emphasis is on exploration and good planning rather than pure combat. The developers seems to have nailed the survival part, it really does feel as you are barely holding on to life and that you could die at any moment and this is where the tension comes from.
A few reviews have noted issues with the touchscreen not being responsive enough. I've had no issues with this at all. It is pretty responsive, dragging and dropping items, moving items in the inventory and selecting them feels natural. The only issue I had was when I was trying to tap the small dots on the map to show scan information, sometimes this didn't feel too precise.
Tap “Don’t Auto-Obtain” and enter in the DNS info as follows:
User 8.8.8.8 for Primary DNS, then press “OK” to return to the DNS screen.
Use 8.8.4.4 for Secondary DNS, then press “OK” to return to the DNS screen.
Tap “Confirm” to return to the manual settings screen.
Just tried playing the Rayman demo for the second time. Of course it prompted me that I was using one of my 30 plays for it.
Anyway, once booted it seems I cannot play it again. I have no audio, and it just keeps looping the intro video
Is this a known issue?

Hm, I had this problem too. Have you tried turning the TV on?![]()
My brother got his 360 with Perfect Dark Zero and Kameo at launch-era and it was way more impressive than my OG Xbox. He never bought any of those uglier games. While the OS was really basic it was speedy and functional. That's pretty much the exact opposite of the Wii U so far. I really hope Nintendo fixes the issues, but they doesn't have the best track record in this area. Didn't it take them an eternity just to add SD card support on the Wii? I don't even think they added proper SD card support on the DSi. I have little faith when it comes to Nintendo fixing the bad Wii U OS. You shouldn't say that just because MS and Sony modernized their console's OSes means Nintendo will too. Microsoft and Sony are known to be much more competent when it comes to updating their consoles, and Nintendo is known to be pretty backwards when it comes to a lot of things, this being one of them. You have answered your own question there. Very early, launch software on the Wii U in comparison to a machine that has had years for the devs to get up to speed. Remember the launch 360 titles that were up-ressed XBox tech games? Remember the o/s and online functionality of the 360 and PS3 at launch in comparison to what it is now? Yes, devs and console manufacturers should do a better job of getting their shit together for launch since they know they are going to launch a new console years in advance so it is hardly a surprise. When do they ever though?
Having to do that once I start any video is a big hassle. I'd rather just turn on a different piece of hardware then start up the Wii U if that's my only solution. Do you know if the Pro controller works with the Netflix/YouTube apps?Have you tried turning the gamepad off via the home button controller options?
Yeah I ended up buying a bunch of launch games and apart from Tekken I'm not feeling any of them. I'm really burnt out on Mario games as I played SM3L and NSMB2 this year, and NSMBU isn't different enough to make me care. CoD: BO2 makes me feel sick as I have really bad motion sickness with some first person games (only fast paced ones like CoD). I recently beat Super Scribblenauts on DS so I don't want to start Scribblenauts Unlimited so soon after. I really want to play Zombi U but I'm such a pussy and get scared easily. The game seems really good though. Now that's one thing we can agree on!i has three Wii U games sitting here [discounting Zombie U which I've finished the campaign of twice and am feeling rather burnt out on] and I'm not currently feeling the urge to play any of them :/.
Better get DNS servers from your provider and enter those (for example go into a command-line by starting cmd.exe and then enter nslookup to see the DNS servers of your notebook/PC). I think Wii U has a problem getting DNS settings, not using the provider DNS servers.
If you enter 8.8.8.8, you are using google DNS servers.

No, why?
I just deleted the demo and am redownloading it.
