Wii U Speculation Thread 2: Can't take anymore of this!!!

We need a Beedle game. My kids would go nuts. They love Beedle.

I want it to be an action-adventure game where we learn how he acquires certain items that he stocks in his shoppes. He has to obtain those bottles, pieces of heart, and sea charts somehow..

Or he could be in the next Punchout as the first opponent, he gives out a Glass Joe-vibe to me.

New thought: it could be an action-stealth game, with Zelda-esque puzzles thrown-in from time to time. He doesn't strike me as much of a fighter, so Nintendo could make it very comedic.

Then again, he has surprised before. For all I know, he could be a decent boxer.

How about an all new high production adventure/action/platformer starring Waluigi????

No one would buy the game but it could be an easy-way-out new IP.

How would that differ from one starring Wario?

Actually, I can imagine. Wario is all about the Greed, but Waluigi is all about trying to be the archetypal silent movie villain; being the Snidely Whiplash type.

And now I'm wondering why I can't think of any games where you play that sort of tongue-in-cheek villain, and there *has* to be potential there.

Waluigi isn't fat, short and boring.

Think of the gameplay/moveset!!!!!!

I'd be game. (har har)

I love to see comedic villains. When the villain character is more comedic and endearing than the hero, the writers are doing something right.

(I also want more games where there's running commentary, like MST3K or Mad World.)

Why have running commentary when you can have caption cards while plinky-plonk piano music plays?

Man oh man.. people are a bit pissy in that EA thread. Like they're expecting E3-type revelations.

They sound like we do, but we seem to have better attitude/humor about the whole waiting-for-details thing. (Our choo-choo train kinda helps, too.)

I love it. I'll take comedic commentary in any form.

Your idea would be really fun to see executed.
(and funny thing.. you say "plinky-plonk" piano and I automatically get what you mean.. ha!)

Real-time Global Warming in a game should have everyone hyped.

And no one will buy them. :(

I dunno.... people bought "traditional" Wii games. They didn't break down the doors for them, but out of the pretty meager selection of generally poor quality port jobs and rushed software, we at least had better performance on the Wii version of CoD3 than on the PS3, and at the least Red Steel was a million seller despite being fundamentally broken (as I recall, something along the lines of the rumble dramatically reducing the accuracy of the pointer).

Question: If we're getting any information from GDC, when will we get it?

15 hours until the floor opens!

I want this now. D:

Luigi discovers oil in the 'wild west' of the Mushroom Kingdom, Waluigi tries to steal all the oil. Steam trains, gun slinging, duels, tower defense, raids, Daisy as the burlesque dancer in the local watering hole. Like Rango, only less existential.

There Will Be Plumbers?

If they went in that direction, I'd want to see Daisy do a parody of "I'm Tired" from Blazing Saddles.

The hell is going on in that EA Stream?

Is EA still a gaming company or not?
Their presentation baffles me, the content has virtually no connection to GDC or the interactive entertainment industry whatsoever. It would be appropriate as a TEDTalks session, but the layout of this is just silly. I'm watching to see if they have anything to tell about Wii U. Most likely they haven't.

I think they forgot what developing games was actually about.

I *think* it's going to tie in to SimCity. Somehow. It's the most logical property of theirs that could have anything to do with this.

I recall lots of essays in the back of the SC2000 manual on the nature of cities, it sounds like that sort of thing.

You know what would be neat...if a game had a certain art design on the big screen, and a totally different one on the controller. For giggles. I mean, sure if you had a "scan" mode, you could argue that's exactly what its doing, but what if you were playing an RPG and on the big screen you're all serious, and on the small screen, its the perspective of a helper or something, and everything is cel-shaded cuz he's young and innocent :P

I think you might have just accidentally pitched Haze.
