Wii U Speculation Thread 2: Can't take anymore of this!!!

The Arcade version is the best selling 360.
Nintendo is basically doing the same thing here.
Let everyone have access to a cheaper system, but allow those that want to use more storage do it easily.

Here is what I like speculation for:

As you know, Nintendo does not plan to enhance their Wii games for HD displays.
This means, they will look much better being played on the controller.

So how are Nintendo and other developers going to allow Wii games, particular games exclusively motion controlled, to play on the Tablet? For example, how will Skyward Sword be handled?

Will we be able to get a patch for traditional controls? Will they use touch controls to replace motion controls?

SS doesn't need the sensor bar during play.

I really don't see it having Sega Saturn on it.
That thing is a bitch to emulate.

And SEGA probably lost the source code to all the good games too. So no porting :( I'd love to get my hands on PD and PDZwei (and Saga!)
Dreamcast titles would be sweet too, JGR looks pretty amazing. Was Shenmue 1 and 2 on Dreamcast as well? It'd be cool to see what the fuzz is all about, especially since I too want to look for some sailors.

The size of the screen shouldn't affect the size of the action, I don't think. The characters would still be performing the same relative motions.

Im not concerned about that, Im talking about the size of the screen. I wont be in your lap. Obviously you will have to move the controller away from you, at a distance to make those motions. So how will you be able to even see the action?

Can someone make a mockup of the official Nintendo HDD, with Wii U logo on it?

?

yes, a friend has one and I'm pretty sure the one I used was originally white.
I'm planning on buying one when I get my Wii U :P
I'm sure we will got some official Nintendo HDD from some manufacturer, we got an official keyboard for Wii from Logitech, an official SD card from Sandisk. (by the way newer 16gb SD cards Nintendo branded never left Japan) =(

I hope Headstrong is able to finally make JGR for Wii U like they were trying to for Wii, but Sega didn't approve. :(

Would be bitchin' with the touch screen, to draw your own graffiti and paste it anywhere! And the cel-shading with the Wii U's power? Mmm so good. :D

I wonder if we'll be able to send video messages to people, anyone think of that? Or would message sizes be too big? Maybe they could condense them into something manageable.

Has there been any updates on the state of 3rd party developers? I've not heard any fresh rumours lately which is odd because if it was a MS or Sony machine that was coming out of the gate this year, we'd have a list as long as your arm.

I think Nintendo is going to hold that back until E3, with their hope being to downplay expectations and then shock us with however much support they actually get.

Wasn't it 1.5GB Flash to -> 2GB?

It was, though only half is useable by the user.

All under NDA, but Project CARS was announced for the Wii U, which is a good sign.

It's a stupid arse way of building excitement. A steady trickle of teases and snippets is much better then this wall of silence.

But then the'll be an explosion of hype which will continue to gain momentum between E3 & launch.

Those few months will be very important for Nintendo.

At this point I'd rather speculate on what the OS is going to be like. There are some similarities between the Wii and 3DS OS, most in how you as the user see and arrange things. I do wonder if we're going to see something similar on the Wii-U. Though if they do that, it would be nice to see a folder option, or a collections option. That way you could throw all your NES VC games into one, and SNES into another, or how ever the fuck you wanted to organize shit.

I'd imagine the Wii U UI will be a cross between 3DS and Wii. The controller will look like the Wii's main home screen and the 3DS' bottom screen, with channels and apps, while the top screen shows the current selected channel.

I'd like to see how multi-tasking is handled in the UI though. It's been implied we can send images or video to the main TV while we continue looking at something else on the controller, so I'm interested in seeing how we transfer things. A button, or do we grab them and "slide" them off the screen fast?

Anyway, just pouring over the questions and answers for the briefing for any Wii U info. There's a lot of "we can't say much until E3" though.

Home Button brings up the UI on the controller and you use the touch screen from there.
Seems simple.

I meant like, when viewing websites on the controller, we're supposed to be able to "send" images and (possibly) webpages/videos to the TV screen, so other people can view them while we continue to browse other websites on the controller. I want to know how we send specific things to the TV. I suppose an option to send to the main screen in one of the corners might work.

I do hope we get full access to the UI during games though. I want the home button to work like it does on the 3DS, rather than the PS3 (games continue running on PS3 instead of completely stopping) and especially the Wii.

As a Wii only gamer (sad, I know), I am looking forward to some re-ports like Arkham City.

However, what do you guys think about the big 3rd party games coming this year as far as Wii U:

- CoD next
- Bioshock Infinite
- GTA V
- Resident Evil 6
- Tomb Raider (confirmed to be a no?)
- Assassin's next (or will Wii U get a separate title?)

- Bioshock Infinite (Maybe, leaning towards no but I really hope it does)
- GTA V (50/50)
- Resident Evil 6 (Yes)
- Tomb Raider (No)
- Assassin's next (Yes)

My predictions.

I also hope MGRising comes out on Wii U.

It'll work like the 3DS, but better.
Probably a wider range of programs that we can use while in game.

TR seems like a no for dumb reasons.
BI maybe not.
The others should happen pretty easy.

I'm very dissapointed by this. I was really looking forward this game on Wii U and
like I said before, it seemed to be a safe bet for Wii U and the stupid and lame excuse
they gave was just a kick in the balls to Nintendo fans after bringing the previous installments to Wii.

Allthough I'm surprised about Ken Levine being in the developer reel and afterwards telling "Yeah we have no Wii U plans at the moment.

CoD - Definitely
Bioshock Infinite - Looks like a no at this point, but you never know
GTA V - Yes, although the question is whether it releases at the same time as the PS360 versions, or if it'll be a late port
Resident Evil 6 - Very likely
Tomb Raider (confirmed to be a no?) - You sort of answered your own question there! Maybe we'll get a late port, but I wouldn't say so
Assassin's next (or will Wii U get a separate title?) - Very likely to be AC3. Those games cost a lot to make, so I don't see them doing a separate one just for the Wii U (especially with AC3 releasing at the same time)

Question is whether or not the games that DO come to wiiU will be enhanced in any way (aside from controller screen use), I mean graphically. Obvious answer is no, but one can dream.
