A 2D Mario is coming in early 2012 for the 3DS anyway.
Did you mean perchance by the end of 2012/early 2013?
As for now we haven't seen an actual screenshot yet.

...damnit.
A 2D Mario is coming in early 2012 for the 3DS anyway. I think we can expect to see a trailer of the big new 3D Mario. Wow...this is extremely exciting, since you basically now that it's going to be in the top 5 games of the generation.![]()
Hype train crashed, I take it? Anyways, if you could have three third parties be on board with the Wii U, who would they be, and with what titles?
The 3DS didn't have the "big exclusive" at launch. The market was full with pet simulation games already, so why bother buying another one? They didn't have something in the scope of a new Zelda or a new Mario. Since they can't deliver these two at launch (need more time), we can expect to have more smaller franchises to come out at launch. Pikmin 3 is a given, would make most of the Nintendo fans buy a system, which results in a solid launch for them. But other than that? What are the most successful franchises of Nintendo?
Mario Kart
Mario Jump&Run
Smash Bros
Wii *blank*
What else?
I hope we get a new Mario design for any of the WiiU games featuring him.
We've pretty much had the same model (and graphics) since 2001 and with the 3DS being in the Wii ball park, it just extends it.
You know, other publishers aren't hesitant to release the same (but actually different) game on both home consoles and portable systems simultaneously. Maybe Nintendo is planning something similar, though it'd be better if they had something in mind at least a little more interesting, like cross-system play.
Is it enough new design for ya ?

Mario through a modern engine with to-the-roof-poly-count-models & more-than-real-breathtaking-lights & never-seen-before-photorealistic-textures !
Who's everyone? Crazy people?Who'd want an hour of port confirmations over EAD games in HD that will melt your eyes with their beauty after 5 years of waiting for Nintendo to go HD.
Games like Assassines Creed 3 and others coming to the console will happen, and it's going to be nice when we can be one hundred percent sure about it, but that alone won't sell anyone on the console and their big E3 re-reveal also needs 1st party titles and good showings of the tablets features to convince people.
Nintendo has alot more exclusive power then that, DK,Kirby,Star Fox,Wave Race,F-Zero,Eternal Darkness and Miyamoto is suppose to be working on a new IP and we know Retro is working on something as well, there will be more then just Pikmin, which honestly is no guarentee to be a launch title either.
EDIT:
Oh wow, still in 2011, even in march.![]()

"Super Mario Kart IDRL (In Da Real Life)" with a modern engine featuring to-the-roof-poly-count-models & more-than-real-breathtaking-lights & never-seen-before-photorealistic-textures !
It could be a concept !
I'm just talking about the franchises that really sell a lot. A LOT. Killer apps. Wave Race isn't a killer app...at least not for Nintendo.
Awesome, thanks, so it's essentially for framebuffer and post procession. That means my question becomes "Is that really such a benefit that it's OK to put up with slow main RAM access?".
NOTE: I haven't finished reading the entire article, it's MASSIVE.
i just want yu suzuki and sega to love eachother and produce the 3rd true entry in the best series ever.
Speaking of which, I have been thinking about Nintendo introducing on WiiU a new enhanced version of Miis: making use of Utablet's built-in cameras, players may just scan their own face and simply put it on top of their Miis, sort of what they made on Mario kart's arcade by Namco.New Super Mario Bros Mii is a must at launch. This system is going to be sold on the idea of switching back and forth between TV and the Controller (at first at least). NSMB Mii is the perfect game to display this feature so that the masses jump on the Wii U boat, and it becomes the "hot" thing to buy for the holidays.
Rémi Gaillard : The Game ?

Pikmin 3 will only appeal to the core nintendo fans, and some others. I don't expect it at launch. If anything, they'll have a new IP ready for launch.

Eugh, to much blonde chicks, not enough polygonal borders!outrun 3, fools.

Fuck damm! I just had a fever driven futur vison of...Isn't there a Sonic Racing 2 or something rumored for the end of this year?
On the question of first-party titles vs third ones that is developing since a few pages, don't forget that there is another kind of game type, which i'm rather interested in: third-party titles made with some help/collaboration of Nintendo, at least in the initial stages of development. Killer Freaks is a third-party soft, but one of the most interesting and intriguing one of the known line-up, thanks to its asymmetrical gameplay ideas. Their VIP place at E3 2011, their endorsement by Nintendo (with their roundtable and Q&A session) is a proof (+ some statements regarding that by Nintendo) that Big N may try a new kind of approach/relationship with third-parties that could come to fruition and results in very enjoyable exclusive games, with the IP/ideas/background/gamedesign of these studios + a sort of Nintendo seal of quality.

We've already seen these collaborations in the past with Sega, Square, Capcom or Team Ninja. Maybe this time, they want to work with western develeopers as well. Bungie, Crytek, Epic, Valve,... They could support Nintendo in some of the technical aspects of development, since a lot of them are familiar with the new engines. I would love to see NeoGaf if a Bungie+Nintendo fps ever happens. xD

I'm still betting on Crytek and Nintendo working on TS4 for the Wii U.
Just fits too perfectly.
Well, this isn't new for Nintendo.
And it's something that they've been doing a lot of lately.
Promising to help publish or fund or localize a game in order to secure exclusives.
It's served them well on the 3DS, and you can bet they'll do more for the Wii U.

Welp. Registration just opened about 2 hours ago. I wonder if any exhibitors are chatting about their projects while in line?![]()

God - we need twitter moles!
We need to compose a list of all the devs/insiders who have the tweeting habits of a 13-year-old girl. Someone is bound to let something slip!

Retro is working on a game for Wii U right? Is a new IP too much to hope for?
Retro's entire existence is to revive older IPs and franchises.
Don't expect a new IP from them.
